Must be at Puke Ariki by 1.15pm Friday 6 August: 10.30-12.30pm. Must be at Puke Ariki by 10.15am Duration: Two hours Location: Puke Ariki foyer (outside the i-SITE) Maximum: 10 pax Step back in time and experience the history of colonial New Plymouth. An easy pace walking tour developed by volunteers of Puke Ariki, the New Plymouth Historical Walk will bring the history of New Plymouth to life as you enjoy an easy stroll around the CBD taking in landmarks, places and moments from the past. Early European settlers stepped off the boat with just the bare essentials and dreams of a new life. Hear stories of hope and anguish, struggle and triumph. Discover how a bush-clad shoreline was transformed into a bustling community and meet the enterprising characters who faced down every challenge to achieve success. You will leave the walk with a New Plymouth Historical Walk booklet as a gift. Then this is the trip for you! Your guide will pick you up from The Devon Hotel and will make sure you see all the best spots to snap those iconic pictures in the most efficient manner. Famil 3 Taste of Taranaki Operator: Discover Taranaki Time: Monday 2 August: 1.30-4.30pm Duation: Three hours Pick up: The Devon Hotel Maximum: 25 pax A tour to titillate the taste buds: thanks to Discover Taranaki Tours. You will visit one of New Zealand’s boutique coffee roasters for a tour of their roasting floor, hear how the business was established, what makes a good coffee and enjoy a brew yourself. Also included is the opportunity to experience the artisan art of making chocolate with a local chocolatier, hear about the history and the process before seeing chocolate moulded and trying a variety of unique flavours. Your last stop will be at a boutique gin distillery where one of New Zealand’s premier gins is made. Here you will view the distillery, learn about the process of making gin, enjoy a cocktail and taste the various gins on offer. Famil 4 Taranaki Maunga Taster Operator: Top Guides Time: Monday 2 August: 1.30pm – 6pm Duration: 4.5 hours Pick-up: The Devon Hotel Maximum: 10 pax Additional info: Delegates must have a good raincoat and suitable footwear for hiking. At the heart of the region sits Taranaki Maunga with over 200km of walking tracks ready to be explored. With lush forests, twisted trees, alpine landscapes, mountain streams and waterfalls, a walk on Taranaki Maunga will leave you feeling invigorated and amazed at his beauty. Top Guides will take you on a Taranaki Maunga excursion. While this experience will have you hiking on the maunga, the exact location will be determined based on weather conditions and track developments. A seriously cool experience is to be had with the team at Egmont Honey, one of the largest producers of Manuka honey in the world and exporting globally. You will be taken to the Egmont Honey factory just out of New Plymouth to watch the entire honey making process through the glass wall packing rooms followed by Manuka honey tasting. Famil 6 Tell Me More Tour Operator: Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre Time: Monday 2 August: 2.30pm Monday 2 August: 3.30pm Friday 6 August: 10.30am Duration: One hour Location: Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre foyer, 42 Queen St, New Plymouth Maximum: 25 pax The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery has been presenting contemporary art exhibitions from around the world since 1970, and in 2015 opened the Len Lye Centre to showcase the work of New Zealand’s most acclaimed international artists. This 60-minute tour will give you an insight into the history of the gallery, the stories of Monica Brewster and Len Lye, and a tour of the current exhibitions.
