FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, FREIGHTLINER CASCADIA

The outlets in my bunk aren't working, why not? The outlets in the bunk only go live with Shore Power. Open the driver's side-box and look straight back for the black box that says Shore Power. Make sure the little says “on”. Close the side-box and run an extension cord from an outside outlet (home, truck stop) to the small plug-in right below the driver's side-box. The outlets in the bunk should now be live. No, you can not run Shore Power from your . If no Shore Power is available, plug your devices directly into your power inverter.

What is a Bunk Heater? (Auxilliary Heater, Espar Heater) It is a small , not a part of the truck itself, that keeps the truck interior heated while the truck is turned off. It uses your diesel fuel as a fuel source, and battery power to run the ventilation. It operates by turning it on, and adjusting the small dial to desired comfort level. You can not run the Auxilliary Heater while the truck's engine is running. This makes it so that you can stay warm in cold weather without running the truck's engine, a substantial fuel savings.

What is Optimized Idle? The DDEC Optimized Idle feature reduces engine idle time by running the engine only when required. Optimized Idle automatically stops and restarts the engine to accomplish the following: • Keep the engine oil temperature between factory set limits 60 – 104°F (16 – 40°C) • Keep the battery charged to start the truck>12.2 V (12 V system) • Keep the cab/sleeper of an on-highway truck at the desired temperature (using the optional ). Other benefits include overall reduction in exhaust emissions and noise, and improved and engine life by starting a warm engine and eliminating starting aids.

How do I Re-Gen this truck? Why do I need to do this? As you drive your late-model truck, DEF Fluid helps keep heavy soot from leaving the stack, and it deposits it into the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). This soot sits in the DPF until it is removed. It's removed by the Re-Gen process. The truck reaches a temperature hot enough to turn the soot into ash. Ash will eventually need to be removed by a repair shop, see your owner's manual maintenance schedule. The truck will typically go into an automatic Re-Gen while you're driving, but not always. At times, you may need to start the process yourself when the truck asks for a “Parked Re-Gen.” 1. Start truck, let it idle. 2. Truck needs to be at operating temperature (water temp at 150 or above.) 3. Cruise control off. 4. Parking brake set (don't touch any pedals.) 5. Press and hold the REGEN button on the dash until the truck goes into high idle. 6. When it's finished, truck will idle down, and you're good to go.
