49TH MEDAL OF VALOR CEREMONY

Seventeen LAPD officers who distin- guished themselves by conspicuous bravery and heroism above and beyond the normal demands of police service to help keep families and communities safe were awarded the distinguished Medal of Valor. The 49th Medal of Valor ceremony was hosted by the Police Foundation in the Grand Ballroom at the Hollywood and Highland Entertainment Complex on Thursday, May 20, 2010.

The Mistress of Ceremony this year was actress, author and community advocate Jamie Lee Curtis. The stories of heroism performed by each individual officer were read before a crowd of approximately 1,000 colleagues, community leaders, elected officials, family and friends. Exhibiting a sense of humility each officer proudly stood at attention as Chief presented them with the prestigious medal.
