Most berthers are making a conscience ef- — Jeff Dickey, Safety Committee Chairperson BOARD CHAIRMAN MESSAGE Joe Balocca, who has volunteered countless hours to the Club, puts it best--"do what you can, when you can, if you can." Joe helps. Be like Joe. Joe isn't alone. Every VYC member proudly states the fact that we are "a volunteer" club. And everyone knows that, without all our great volunteers, very little would get done. So what can you do to volunteer to help? First, you could check out the Club calendar here in the Binnacle or online. Find an event when you are free and volunteer, let our Club Manager Matthew or the Commodore know and they'll put you in touch with someone. Or second, you can just show up and start helping. The bottom line is that you "do what you can, when you can, if you can." You don't have to spend the day or many hours to contribute. Do you have 30 minutes? That can help and it will be greatly appreciated. And if you have more time to contribute, that's appreciated too. I CHALLENGE YOU! At the last Board meeting, I made a challenge to all members. The Club has so many needs; dock repairs, dredging, the structure under the bar, painting, roof repair and the list goes on. To help this Club we all love so dearly, I challenge all members to donate, each month for the next year, any fixed amount ABOVE your monthly Club invoice. Can you spare an additional $5 a month? $20? $100? Or more? There is a sign-up sheet on the Club bulletin board. Join those of us who have already pledged.
