This filmography was created with reference to “Kawasaki City Museum Cinematheque News (Kawasaki City Museum. Oct, 2006)”. We added found information from primary source and interview with artist for this filmography. The rules of description are as follows. 1: Clarification of the basic information. (Title | Date | Event title and venue) 2: Clarification of the format. (Film gauge or video type and aspect ratio; Presence or absence of color; Presence or absence of sound; Run time) 3: Clarification of the used medium. (For example, expanded cinema, installation and performance) 4: Clarification of the production staff. When there are sponsor company and production company, we listed on the first line. We are happy to report that we have successfully moved 4 News from the Gfrom the School of Social Work building to the 4th Publications Program floor of Weiser Hall. Our excellent staff didn’t miss a beat as we quickly News from the 7 transitioned from the office move to an academic year Japanese Language Program filled with special events that commemorated CJS’s 70th anniversary. In Fall 2017, we organized three special 8 CJS 70th Anniversary conferences that covered CJS’s luminous history from the Conference Series early years under our founding director Robert B. Hall through the Okayama Field Station of the 1950s and the trade friction 12 Michigan in Tokyo of the 1980s to the recent collaboration with the city of Ishinomaki in its efforts to recover from the 2011 earthquake. 14 CJS Welcomes The festivities overflowed into Winter/Spring 2018 with 2 Princess Akiko of Mikasa events such as the conference on US-Japan relationships that spotlighted the role of CJS in shaping this important 16 Opportunity Time bilateral relation, and a visit by Princess Akiko of Japan’s Imperial House, the first visit to CJS by members of the 18 A Champion for Japanese Language Imperial House since 1953, when then Crown Prince (current Emperor) Akihito toured CJS. -

The Japanese literary tradition contains an array of poetic forms since its earliest extant texts, though some, like waka and kanshi, dominated poetic production for centuries. With Japan’s increased exposure to Western literary forms after the start of the Meiji era in 1868, the variety of new forms expanded rapidly. For many of Japan’s readers and poets, exposure to European and American literature was initially mediated by translation anthologies. As this dissertation seeks to show, many of the translators grafted new poetic practice onto pre-existing techniques, resulting in new forms and styles of poetry. Vernacular poets, often working with keen awareness of the translations, further adapted and altered those forms in their own work. Each chapter that follows documents and analyZes key aspects of form in modern Japanese poetry, including meter and rhyme. My primary tool of analysis is close reading, down to the phonemes, as rhyme and meter require, together with textual comparisons. -
