The breakdown in a potentially adaptive cline emphasizes the need to more closely investigate the evolutionary processes that shape geographic struc- turing (or its absence) within the introduced range. In addition, EICA is not univer- sally applicable to all invasion scenarios, and our findings underscore the importance of testing the underlying assumptions alongside the predictions of this hypothesis. Arranging the vehicles took a little longer than expected, but once sorted we were on our way, heading to Ponte Leccia. Here we had a coffee stop and Andrew bought some cheese, meat and bread. We then headed across the top of the island to l’Ile-Rousse, where we stopped at the farmer’s market to buy fruit and salad. We then pushed on to our lunch stop near Galeria. Here we saw a variety of birds, wall lizards and some endemic plants: Corsican Storksbill (Erodium corsicum) and Sea Lavender (Limonium corsicum). We then drove a few hundred yards to see if there was a way down to some wetland, but unfortunately there was not. We did hear Cetti’s Warbler and saw a pair of Long-tailed Tits. Our next stop was on the coastal road at one of the U bends at the head of one of the many valleys we had to negotiate. Here were even more endemic plants, though we stopped for the Wild Vine (Vitis riparia) and saw the Illyrian Sea Lily (Pancratium Illyricum).

A list of 1 9 other Lepidoptera species and one Coleopteron observed in N. E. Sardinia in mid-May, is given with short notes on the life history of seven of these. The larvae of A paidia mesogona Godart were found on a tree, Juniperus phoenicea, not usually mentioned in literature as harbouring this moth. Two of the 1 9 appear not to have been recorded from Sardinia before : - Thera cupessata (Hübn.-G.) and Eupithecia oxycedrata Rambur. The Q genitalia of the latter are compared with those of E. sardoa Dietze (hitherto unillustrated). A total of 15 species belonging to 7 subfamilies, Anomaloninae (1), Campopleginae (3), Cremastinae (2), Cryptinae (4), Diplazontinae (1), Pimplinae (2), and Tryphoninae (2), were collected. Key words: Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, faunistics, Tehran, Iran. Resumen: Estudio de la fauna de Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera) en la provincia de Teherán, Irán. En este trabajo se trata el estudio faunístico de los Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonoidea) de algunas regiones de la provincia de Teherán, Irán. Se capturaron un total de 15 especies pertenecientes a 7 subfamilias, Anomaloninae (1), Campopleginae (3), Cremastinae (2), Cryptinae (4), Diplazontinae (1), Pimplinae (2) y Tryphoninae (2). These insects are one of the most powerful parasitoids of different insects, spiders and pseudoscorpions, and several species have an efficient role in the biological control of agricultural pests (Gupta, 1991; Çoruh & Kolarov, 2010). The fauna of Iranian Ichneumonidae is not well studied, as only 502 species belonging to 189 genera and 24 subfamilies have been listed by Barahoei et al.

GHAHARI Abstract: The fauna of Iranian Agathidinae and Brachistinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is summarized in this paper, and synonyms and distribution data are given. In total 28 species of Agathidinae from nine genera Agathis LATREILLE, Bassus Fabricius, Camptothlipsis ENDERLEIN, Coccygidium SAUSSURE, Cremnops FÖRSTER, Disophrys FÖRSTER, Earinus WESMAEL, Leptopylus FÖRSTER, Therophilus WESMAEL, and 17 species of Brachistinae from four genera Eubazus NEES von ESENBECK, Foersteria SZÉPLIGETI, Schizoprymnus FÖRSTER, Triaspis HALIDAY are listed from the fauna of Iran. Two species of Brachistinae, Triaspis pallipes (NEES) and Eubazus (Brachistes) minutus (RATZEBURG) are newly recorded from Iran. Host records are also given for each species whenever available. Key words: Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Agathidinae, Brachistinae, catalogue, Iran. Introduction Agathidinae is moderately large subfamily with at least 800 species worldwide, which its members are koinobiont endoparasitoids, are natural enemies on lepidopteran families, especially, Gelechiidae, Coleophoridae, Noctuidae, Blastobasidae, Tineidae and Tortrici- dae (ZETTEL & BEYARSLAN 1992). The biology of most species is unknown, but in gene- ral agathidines are koinobiont endoparasitoids of larvae of Lepidoptera. The species with a short ovipositor select exposed larvae and those with a long ovipositor use larvae with a concealed way of life (VAN ACHTERBERG & LONG 2010). Agathidins lay their eggs on the first and second instars of their hosts, mostly, prefer the ventral ganglion or lateral lobe protocerabrum (QUEDNAU 1970; GÜÇLÜ & ÖZBEK 2011). The egg increases in size before hatching and the caudate first-instar larva, which has a discernible tracheal system but no spiracles, floats freely in the haomoceal.

Endriss 2018 All Rights Reserved ABSTRACT FRAMEWORKS FOR TESTING MECHANISMS OF INVASION AND PLANT DEFENSE Invasions are an increasingly problematic ecological and economic challenge in today’s world of rapid globalization and environmental change. Economists estimate that global management and damage costs of biological invasions well exceed 300 billion dollars each year. In the United States alone, plants result in annual estimated costs of greater than 33 billion dollars in management and damages, with additional annual environmental losses valued at about 150 million. Understanding how plants evolve after introduction to a new range is therefore of broad interest, as this understanding may lead to better-informed management. In turn, better-informed management may increase services of natural and agricultural settings alike, as well as increase the efficiency of the taxpayer dollars so often used to control these invasions and their impacts. In addition to the applied implications of understanding invader evolution, biological invasions represent large-scale evolutionary experiments, as they often experience striking environmental differences between their native and introduced ranges. For example, upon introduction to a novel range, plants often experience a new climate and reduced herbivory, especially from specialists. Invasions are therefore ideal for addressing fundamental ecological and evolutionary questions, as we can use between-range comparisons to investigate how plants evolve in response to differences in selection that have remained consistent across evolutionary significant periods of time.
