Sept. 24 Underage Drinking (Village)– A UPD officer was dispatched to Osprey Village Building E at 11:45 p.m. in reference to an alcohol and noise complaint. The RA was denied contact with the room resident but the noise ceased. The of- ficer made contact with the suspect, the room resident, and was allowed inside the room. The officer observed 15 people inside the common area of the room. The officer gave the suspect his legal rights and questioned him about the open cans of alcohol. He said the alcohol belonged to him. The officer was given verbal consent to search the room for any contraband. The officer found 25 beers and one bottle of vodka. One subject, a UNF Housing Student of legal drinking age, claimed ownership of seven different bottles of beer and said he did not share with any other persons in the room. The suspect was issued a Notice to Appear. Eight of the subjects were not UNF students and were given trespassing warnings. One other subject was a minor and was released into the custody of her mother. The remaining six were UNF students. They, along with the suspect, were referred to UNF Student Conduct for their actions.

ADVERTISEMENT Hurricane Evacuation Information UNF has an evacuation plan in case of emergency By Paula Senn contributing writer

What would the average UNF student do if an- other storm headed toward Jacksonville and the campus was ordered to evacuate? Of the 16,300 students enrolled for the Fall 2011 semester, the great majority lives off campus and would therefore follow evacuation procedures for the areas in which they live. However, Nicole Irvin, UNF’s Housing and Resident Life office assistant, said there are 3,000 students living in dormitories on campus. Those residents would be evacuated under UNF’s Hurricane Action Plan, she said. When a hurricane comes close to Jacksonville, the city activates its Emergency Operations Center. The UNF hockey team is off to a 4-0 start this season after a dominant sweep over the Florida Institute of Technology. The team played FIT Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, winning both games with a combined score of 26-2. The team picked up an 11-1 home win Sept. 24, even without arguably their three top play- ers, who were suspended due to fights in their previous game. Head coach Dan Pszenyczny was pleased to see his shorthanded team come together so well. “It was a good all-around game. They were able to stay away from the crap that caused the guys to miss this game,” he said. The Ospreys started off some- what slow, scoring only two goals — both off of rebounded shots from the point.
