Cadet Flight Sergeant Responsibilities The Flight Sergeant is a key person in the unit. It is normal for a Flight Sergeant to act as Flight when the Flight Commander is absent. When the Flight commander is present, the Flight sergeant acts as the key assistant and advisor to the Flight Commander. Tasks include conducting inspections, teaching how to wear the uniform, customs and courtesies, discipline, drill and gathering information from the Element Leaders.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Assists the cadet flight commander in the performance of his/her duties, to include: • Inspections • Leading the Class in the Pledge of Allegiance • Instructions in military courtesy and drill • Maintenance of discipline • Ensuring have P/T clothing, updated on the Chain of Command, Cadet Guide, and proper wear of the uniform. • Flight administration and personnel matters • Related duties as required Practical Application The Flight Sergeant is a vital position that connects the Officer Staff to the basic cadets. A Flight Sergeant is typically under the direct command of a Flight Commander. The duties or the Flight Sergeant usually include drilling the flight, knowing the status of all the flight members during the meetings and other activities, keeping tabs on flight members' testing progress, and relaying information from the Flight Commander. The Flight Sergeant should be much more directly invoked with the cadets than the Flight Commander, however the Flight Sergeant should be mindful to keep the troop/commander ago or risk losing the authority necessary to perform the job proficiently.
