Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO Upon this letter we announce that Kochari, the traditional group dance is a wide-spread traditional dance in the RA Tavush region, and is danced in the region communities of Dilijan, Ijevan, Berd, Noyemberyan, Koghb. The group dance Kochari known from the ancient times among all Armenians has kept its traditions in our region - it is the inseparable part of holidays and family gatherings. Both the youth and adults dance, but it ~s much more beautiful when all dance together. Therefore, we highly appreciate the preservation of intangible cultural heritage in the region. By taking part in the preparation of the application on the dance Kochari, we hope that it will be inscribed on the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. Best regards, ~ H. ABOVYAN We, the habitants of Kakavadzor community, Aragatsotn region of the Republic of Armenia, dance Kochari during all occasions, weddings, family gatherings and other events held in our community. To dance Kochari and teach this traditional dance to the future generations is the duty of each Sasuntsi (habitant of Sasun). lt should be proudly noted that all the events and weddings begin with Kochari in our community. Everybody dances - both children and adults; they dance shoulder to shoulder as the fortress of Sasun, they dance fist to fist, with pride and invincible soul. Only the one dancing Kochari feels the magical power of this dance. Taking part in the preparation of the application on the dance Kochari to be presented to UNESCO, we announce that Kochari is not only a dance in Kakavadzor community, but the history of Sasuntsi, and the inclusion of Kochari in the list of UNESCO will highly contribute to the preservation of this traditional unique dance. In different rural communities of Shirak region nowadays live representatives of the Armenain generation who have immigrated from Western Armenia and bear unique musical specimen. They are folk and national multi-genre song types and musical instrumental works. In the article we have touched upon 100 folk songs compiled from the folkloristic material organized in about 20 communities of Shirak region in 2015 March-April, that not only give us common notion of the song tradition of our compatriots migrated from Moush and Alashkert, in 2015, but they also certify that the tradition of folk song creativity is alive and coexists next to the very different modern cultural manifestations. Keywords: Ethnomusicology, Musical folklore, Shirak regon, traditional music, folk song, study, revival. The musical heritage of Shirak of the 19th-20th centuries has its unique place and role in the development of the Armenian national music. The rich musical folklore, imbued with the genre- stylistic features of the musical dialects of Western Armenia, became the basis for the unprecedented development of the professional music of the oral tradition and the creation of a valuable heritage. From the second half of the 19th century Armenian philologists and musician-folklorists became interested in the flourishing art of the Armenian bards and folk music players of Shirak.

Div. XII/Comm. 46/PG International Schools for Young Astronomers – ISYA The 32nd ISYA, at Byurakan Observatory, Armenia, 12 Sept. - 3 Oct. 2010 Excerpt from a report by Jean-Pierre De Greve, Chairman PG ISYA Introduction The 32nd ISYA 2010, held at Byurakan Observatory, Armenia, was characterized by a very large number of applicants (more than 100) from a large number of countries from the region. Because of the close connections between the observatory and research groups in France and Germany and the fact that for students of those countries grants were available outside the ISYA funding, it was decided also to accept a few students from these countries in order to enlarge the international character of the student body. The following organisations sponsored the ISYA programme: Armenian Astronomical Society (ArAS), Armenian National Academy of Sciences (NAS RA), Armenian State Committee for Science (SCS), Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory (BAO), German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst, DAAD), International Astronomical Union (IAU), Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (NASL), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The IAU allocated funds provided by the NASL to cover the travel expenses of the participants (visa, insurance, and air fare, local transport, and cultural trips). BAO, ArAS, NAS RA, SCS, and UNESCO provided accommodation for students at the observatory hotel and for lecturers in Yerevan hotels, meals and coffee breaks during the school, as well as other expenses (social events, participants’ kits, administration expenses). DAAD provided travel grants for three German students. Location The Byurakan Observatory is one of the main observational centers of the former Soviet Union and an important observatory with modern facilities in the Middle East region.

  • L'italia E L'eurovision Song Contest Un Rinnovato
