Moses in Switzerland | Norient.Com 25 Sep 2021 03:01:16 Moses in Switzerland PODCAST by Moses Iten Moses in Switzerland | norient.com 25 Sep 2021 03:01:16 Moses in Switzerland PODCAST by Moses Iten In the philosophical DJ-Set «The B Side of Switzerland» and the radio Podcast «Stranger than caribbean music: My swiss roots» the swiss-australian artist Moses Iten travelles through Switzerland and back to his own swiss past. Based in Melbourne he is gaining an international reputation as a DJ and producer with the Cumbia Cosmonauts – a fresh outlook to search for remains and revivals of «real» Swiss folk music. The B Side of Switzerland Swiss-Australian artist Moses Iten recently travelled around the tiny nation of Switzerland by bus, train, plane and steamship, along the way digging in record stores for forgotten classics, cult jewels, experimental gems, and interviewing some of the artists behind music Made in Switzerland. Moses introduces us to the likes of a man who spent ten years recording the sounds of steamboats; a spaghetti western soundtrack composer; a son of yodellers who is a well-known dancehall producer; and a duo of like-minded sonic explorers sharing some of their insights. This road trip through the sonic landscape of Switzerland is the B-Side to a documentary Moses produced for Into The Music, which explored his quest as a musician of how to best produce contemporary music that is https://norient.com/podcasts/moses-in-switzerland Page 1 of 7 Moses in Switzerland | norient.com 25 Sep 2021 03:01:16 representative of his birth country. In this B-Side version, Switzerland and its music is ripped apart and put together again without paying much attention to tradition or history, but sense of place remains all-important in this philosophical DJ set. It wouldn’t be complete without some musings, as Moses reads from his travel notebook throughout the story. Podcast [49'] → Listen here. Stranger than Caribbean Music: My Swiss Roots Once upon a time Swiss herdsmen would call their cows home with a yodel or by blowing a horn—well this is actually still the case today. But if you start looking for recordings of traditional music made in Switzerland you are likely to be drowned in an avalanche of cliches manufactured for tourists, before finding the real deal. This story documents the musical journey of Swiss-émigré artists Moses Iten and Christoph H. Mueller to find their own roots, and ultimately their quest to collaborate in creating a distinctly Swiss sound the rest of the world would want to hear. https://norient.com/podcasts/moses-in-switzerland Page 2 of 7 Moses in Switzerland | norient.com 25 Sep 2021 03:01:16 Moses and Christoph emigrated from Switzerland 20 years ago, and are now best known for popularising exotic Latin American music for a global audience. Paris-based Christoph created a sensation as part of multi- platinum selling electronic tango outfit Gotan Project. For Into The Music, Moses travelled back in time to his parents' Swiss-style farm in Tasmania, and around German-speaking Switzerland partaking in ancient Alpine rituals, digging in city record stores, meeting musical heroes and, along the way, discovering «real» Swiss folk music has been lost and found again several times. • Pressing Or Receiving the Slightest Emotion, at a Moment in His Life When He Is Terribly Vulnerable
Official Competition - Donostia- San Sebastian 2005 TS PRODUCTIONS present Patrick Anne Chesnais Consigny NotNot herehere toto bebe lovedloved (Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé) a film by Stéphane Brizé An interview with Stéphane Brizé Where did you get the idea for this film? It all started with the simple desire to observe this man, who is absolutely incapable of expressing or receiving the slightest emotion, at a moment in his life when he is terribly vulnerable. Having reached 50, Jean-Claude senses that he is in the last-chance saloon in terms of building a meaningful rela- tionship. Like some of the other characters in the film, he has a choice to make, which will decide his whole future. It is a choice that will lead to happiness or bitterness and regrets. By confronting the characters with this dilem- ma, I observe the unseen reasons that lead them to act in one way, or another, and reveal the paradox of deci- sions that sometimes contradict one’s deepest desires. They are characters at various ages in life, who have never learned to love or be loved… that often goes togeth- er. That’s the crux of the film and explains the title, which is a kind of declaration of intent whose meaning is the opposite of what it says. As a result of all their deficiencies and traumas, the characters mess up their relation- ships, suffer, are weighed down by regret at the end of their lives, or would like to say what they feel deep down but can’t or don’t know how to.

Tango creates an atmosphere, especially if performed by Gotan Project. Gotan Project is the unique band formed in 1999 in Paris. The very name of the group has it’s own story: Gotan is a slightly changed word Tango, which is quite logical, because the musicians experiment with tango, using some new elements, such as samples and beats. The full name of the band is an allusion to the famous album Tango Project. Such musicians as Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Le Pera took parts in creation of that record and it was released in 1982. Apart from the original material musicians of Gotan Project are very good at cover-versions and Frank Zappa’s Chunga's Revenge is the bright example. That composition was included to the band’s debut album La Revancha del Tango, released in 2001. -el-habito-del-amor-anne-cumming.html 0.6538 2017-10-06T07:12:27+00:00 daily. /4490149-el-monje-desaparecido-autor-peter-tremayne- pdf.html 0.6358.

1 Tango as Exoticist Other in Hollywood Films: The Poetics of Desire, and Violence By Hannah Balcomb, University of Riverside, CA. This paper was presented at Encuentros/Encounters 2013 Tango: Argentine Music and Dance, Argentine Identity University of California, Riverside April 26, 2013 Sponsored by the Center for Iberian and Latin American Music 2 OPENING VIGNETTTES Scene 1: The camera opens on a pair of legs descending down the stairs, followed by a buttox, a torso, and finally a head. The woman crosses the room in a haughty manner; she does not acknowledge anyone, but calmly sheds her coat to reveal bare shoulders and a short, strappy dress. A man appears; he is tall, dark, and handsome–exotic. He carries himself with poise and strength, shoulders back, chest forward. The first piano chords ring out and, without speaking, the man and the woman begin to dance a provocative, smoldering tango brimming with sexual tension. The audience, a group of high school students, stare; they are entranced by these figures and their alluring dance. Scene 2: A man in a restaurant begins to engage a woman he does not know in conversation. He invites the woman to dance. Hesitantly she explains that she does not know how to dance the tango and is afraid of making a mistake. The man assuages her fears, saying “No mistakes in tango…That’s what makes the tango so great. You make a mistake, get all tangled up; just tango on.” The woman, seduced by this tantalizing and freeing suggestion, agrees to dance. The two maneuver gracefully across the floor despite the fact that the man is blind and the woman has never danced tango before.
