8 American Red Brangus Journal — Spring 2017 andBaxter His “460 Womack Herd”

Baxter Womack, owner of the Double W Ranch outside of Austin, Texas in Caldwell County is rather an extraordinary cattleman and he owns quite a special Red Brangus cow. Mr. Womack is 86-years young and a retired professor from The University of Texas and a past director for the American Red Brangus Association ( ARBA). Mr. Womack received his beginning in the cattle business when he was a young boy growing up in Charleston, Arkansas. He went to the local bank to get a loan to purchase a Jersey cow. The banker tried to talk him out of getting the loan but Mr. Womack assured him he would make money with the Jersey cow and repay his loan. The banker loaned him the $75 dollars to purchase the cow that was bred to a Hereford. She produced a good bull calf, that Mr. Womack sold for $176 dollars to repay his loan and he made a profit to keep going in the cattle business. He paid the loan, as well as the $2.50 interest on the cow and with the help of his side jobs he was in the cattle business. don’t have any difficulty in calving or producing heavy weaning Mr. Womack received his first two degrees in Arkansas, and weight calves. 2011 III Red Countess 233W Shown and owned by Dylan Bostick 2011 Reserve Grand Champion Red Brangus Bostick’s Ruby 45C San Antonio Livestock Exposition Junior Show Bred by Dustin Bostick, Bostick Cattle Company Bostick’s Red Tex 53A (Dam: III Lady Luck 022Y) x III Miss Tessa Joe 838X 2016 American Junior Red Brangus National Champion Female Since 2011, Three I Farms has raised four of the last seven San Antonio Livestock Exposition $10,000.00 scholarship winners, for a total of $40,000.00 in scholarships. (It just so happens that all of these young people have been in the Bangs FFA program and advised by Mr. Marshal Stork, they appreciate your help and support and so do we--- Thanks Marshal!) Over the years, we have several other 2013 scholarship winners in the program as a result of our genetics. These young people and their cattle have been successful in and out of the ring, going on to raise top III Lady Luck 022Y notch cattle and raise their own brand of champions. Dustin Bostick is a perfect Shown and owned by Dustin Bostick example of that success, breeding the 2016 American Junior Red Brangus National 2013 Grand Champion Red Brangus Champion Female from a heifer he purchased from us and a bull that was raised out San Antonio Livestock Exposition Junior Show of his 2013 San Antonio Scholarship winning female that was raised and bred by us. Most of this kind of success is not found in a lifetime, much less during the four short years of high school. Good luck to Dustin and his brother Dylan at Aggieland in the fall. We know you will make everyone proud. Congrats to these great young people pictured and we look forward to many greater successes as they continue in life to complete their bucket list. If you have a young person or herd that has some boxes to check off of your list, give us a call. We will have a limited amount of 2015 offspring available for your review and future success!!
