I denne teksten presenteres forskningsnettverket Musikkpedagogikk i utvikling (MiU), som denne skriftserien utgår fra, samt refleksjoner bak og intensjoner for MusPed:Research. Det musikkpedagogiske forsknings-, utdannings- og praksisfeltet er et mangfoldig landskap. Blant annet foregår musikkundervisning i Norge i grunnskolen, i kulturskolen, i vid- eregående skole, ved høyere musikkutdanning, i det frivillige musikkliv og som musikkaktiviteter i barnehage og SFO. Musikk er i 2020 et oblig- atorisk fag i barnehagelærerutdanningen, et valgt fag i grunnskolelærer- utdanningen, mulig bakgrunn for praktisk-pedagogiske utdanninger som kvalifiserer til grunnskole og videregående skole, samt mange fag i faglærerutdanning i musikk. Lærerutdanningene til det mangespektrede musikkpedagogiske praksisfeltet foregår ved universiteter og høyskoler – og uten akkreditering også gjennom kursordninger i regi av organisa- sjoner knyttet til blant annet korps og kor. Kunnskapsutvikling i, for, med og om dette mangeartede landskapet foregår blant annet som tradisjonell vitenskapelig forskning og som skapende, kunstnerisk utviklingsarbeid. Cappelen Damm Akademisk. https://doi.org/10.23865/noasp.108.ch0 Lisens: CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. 7 MUSIKKPEDAGOGISK FORSKNING – EN MØTEPLASS Forskningsnettverket MiU – bakgrunn for skriftserien Bakgrunnen for denne skriftserien er forskningsnettverket MiU1 som ble etablert våren 2018 i samarbeid mellom fire musikkpedagoger (Elin Angelo, Jens Knigge, Wenche Waagen og Morten Sæther) ved de fire utdanningsinstitusjonene i Midt-Norge som kvalifiserer til dette brede musikkpedagogiske landskapet. Disse fire institusjonene er Institutt for lærerutdanning (ILU) og Institutt for musikk (IMU) ved Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU), Nord universitet (Nord) og Dronning Mauds Minne Høgskole for barnehagelærerut- danning (DMMH). Til sammen utdanner disse institusjonene lærere til grunnskole, kulturskole, barnehage, videregående skole, høyere utdanning og det frivillige musikkliv gjennom utdanninger på bachelor-, master- og ph.d.-nivå. De fire MiU-institusjonene skiller seg fra hverandre gjennom ulike historiske bakgrunner, kunnskapstradisjoner og profe- sjonsorienteringer. For eksempel omfatter nåværende Institutt for musikk ved NTNU blant annet det tidligere Trøndelag musikkonser- vatorium og det tidligere Musikkvitenskapelige Institutt, hvorav sist- nevnte ble opprettet i 1962 som del av Norges Lærerhøgskole. Disse delene bygger på kontrasterende kunnskapstradisjoner med fokus på (i) skapende og utøvende musikerutdanning, og (ii) en mer akademisk ori- entert utdanning av musikkvitere. De fire institusjonene bak MiU har imidlertid også mange likheter med tanke på de ansattes bakgrunner og kvalifiseringsveier, utdanningenes form og innhold og det hybride yrkesfeltet som de ferdigutdannede studentene møter. En intensjon med forskningsnett verket MiU var å skape en møteplass på tvers av disse ulikhetene, styrke dialogene og bidra til felles kunnskapsutvikling i og om musikkpedagogisk utdanning. En annen intensjon med å danne net- tverket var å styrke musikkpedagogisk forskning i regionen, blant annet realisert med en felles antologi. Gjennom arbeidet mot denne antolo- gien ble skriftserien MusPed:Research dannet. Pr juni 2020 er i alt fem 1 MiU: https://www.ntnu.no/ilu/musikkpedagogikk-utvikling 8 MUSIKKPEDAGOGISK FORSKNING – EN MØTEPLASS antologier i prosess i denne skriftserien.2 Fire av disse har utspring i MiU; Music Technology in Education – Channeling and Challenging Perspec- tives (Eiksund et al., 2020), MusPed: Higher Education as Context for Music Pedagogy Research (Angelo et al., 2021b), Arts Education: Collab- oration, Quality and Tensions (Bandlien et al., 2021), Samsang gjennom livsløpet (Strøm & Eiksund, 2022), og én antologi har utspring i forsk- ningsgruppen Reconfiguring Early Modern Performance, (REMP) ved Universitetet i Agder;3 MusPed: Views on Early Music as Representation – Invitations, Congruity, Performance (Rolfhamre & Angelo, 2021). Et sentralt tema i etableringsfasen var nettverkets navn. Ved oppstart høsten 2018 sto MiU for Musikklærerutdanning i utvikling – en formuler- ing som insisterte på å samle det mangfoldige fellesskapet av musikk- og lærerutdanninger i regionen under begrepet «musikklærerutdanning». Etter et år med seminarer, workshoper og arbeid i mindre forskningsgrup- per ble nettverkets navn endret i 2019 til Musikkpedagogikk i utvikling. Ethvert begrep er problematisk når intensjonen er å være både presis og inkluderende, og når begrepet også handler om noens identitet.

Because fans have traditionally been associated with an especially participatory relationship to the object of fandom, the shift to a norm of media interactivity would seem to position the fan as the new ideal consumer; thus, I examine the extent to which fans are actually rendered ideal and in what ways in order to assess emerging norms of media reception in the Internet era. Drawing on a large archive consisting of websites for sports and speculative media companies; interviews with industry workers who produce content for fans; and film, television, web series, and news representations from 1994-2009 in a form of qualitative big data research—drawing broadly on large bodies of data but with attention to depth and texture—I look critically at how two media industries, speculative media and sports, have understood and constructed a normative idea of audiencing.

Auch das diesjährige DJ-Line-up ist vollgespickt mit vielen Chartstürmern; unter ihnen Faul & Wad AD, Remady & Manu L, DJ ZsuZsu und Alex Price. Ergänzt wird dieses Bandpaket mit Bear Hands, einer Indie-Rock-Band mit grosse Zukunft, den Tessinern von Sinplus, den experimentierfreudigen Yokko, den Top-5-Rappern von Lo & Leduc, dem unverwüstlichen Plüsch-Urgetier Ritschi und vor allem mit den mysteriösen Kadebostany. Es ist dies wohl eine der derzeit spannendsten Bands schweizweit mit einem riesigen internationalen Potential. Freuen darf man sich auch auf die Verpflichtung der Kyle Gass Band, der einen Hälfte des sensationellen Duos Tenacious D.

Die Platte klingt durchweg modern, es ist ein von subtiler, bisweilen dadaistischer Selbstironie durch- drungenes Album, bei dem nicht, wie so oft in der Vergangenheit, von Single zu Single geschritten wird, sondern das wie ein klassisches Pop-Album einen echten Spannungsbogen besitzt – die Band bleibt sich bei ihrem mittlerweile 17. Studioalbum natürlich trotzdem treu. Eine Generalüberholung ist nötig gewesen. Der Abschied von Gründungsmitglied Rick J. Jordan hatte eine klaffende Lücke im Bandgefüge hinterlassen. H.P. Baxxter sah sich als „Maximo Leader“ und einziges verbliebenes Mitglied der Ur-Besetzung mit einem Mal mit noch größerer musikalischer Autorität ausgestattet als zuvor. 23 Top Ten-Hits, 30 Millionen verkaufte Tonträger und über 90 Gold- und Platin-Awards weltweit – besser geht es eigentlich nicht, was soll da noch kommen? H.P. fand mit Phil Speiser als dritten im Bunde und an den Synthesizern einen neuen Mitstreiter, der sich so stark in der Gegenwart der Produktionstechnik bewegte, dass jedes Arbeiten an einem neuen Track zu einem Sparring wie beim Boxen wurde.

Taking up in-depth portraits of different aspects of living and growing up in a media-saturated era, the series takes an innovative approach to the genre of the ethnographic monograph. Through detailed case studies, the books explore practices at the forefront of media change through vivid description analyzed in relation to social, cultural, and historical context. New media practice is embedded in the routines, rituals, and institutions—both public and domestic—of everyday life. The books portray both average and exceptional practices but all grounded in a descriptive frame that ren- ders even exotic practices understandable. Rather than taking media content or technol- ogy as determining, the books focus on the productive dimensions of everyday media practice, particularly of children and youth. The emphasis is on how specific communities make meanings in their engagement with convergent media in the context of everyday life, focusing on how media is a site of agency rather than passivity. This ethnographic approach means that the subject matter is accessible and engaging for a curious layperson, as well as providing rich empirical material for an interdisciplinary scholarly community examining new media.     THE PUBLISHED MUSIC OF KEITH EMERSON: EXPANDING THE SOLO PIANO REPERTOIRE by GIUSEPPE LUPIS (Under the Direction of Richard Zimdars) ABSTRACT The study examines the published music of Keith Emerson (b.1944) and includes solo piano transcriptions of thirteen of his compositions. Emerson’s music was published on three continents over a period of thirty years (1975-2005). Because almost all of it is currently out of print, a need exists for a cataloguing and a rediscovery of his music. The work is in five chapters. The first, a short biography, examines Emerson as a composer. The second addresses the importance of Emerson’s music. The third covers the sources of Emerson’s published compositions and a performance and recording history of Emerson’s music performed by pianists other than the composer. The fourth chapter surveys thirteen compositions which appear as solo piano transcriptions in the fifth chapter. It is based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted from 2016-2017, supported by the US Fulbright Junior Scholars program. This fieldwork included attending multiple concerts each week, as well as interviews, and analysis of media and promotional materials. In studying the intercultural interactions of local foreign musicians (mostly white, male, English teachers) and Korean musicians, I argue that a variety of markers, including place, genre, and nationality, are important parts of how individual musicians understand their connections and/or disconnections with other musicians. Foreign musicians in Korea employ a variety of ideologies and techniques to attempt to bridge perceived gaps between musicians.

Where information has been derived from other sources, I confirm that this has been indicated in the thesis. 2 ABSTRACT Quechua people have a fraught history with the Peruvian national family planning (FP) programme, with an estimated 300,000 individuals (forcibly) sterilised during the 1990s Fujimori-government in a biopolitical act that saw indigenous people as less ‘desirable’ and therefore sought to restrict reproduction in this group (Ewig, 2010). The state is now targeting the ‘rural, poor’ (often synonymous with ‘indigenous’) specifically for family planning intervention once more, based on perceived unmet need in this population. Now, for the first time in history, the 2017 national census included a question about identification of indigeneity, further suggesting heightened governmental interest in the demographics of this group. State intervention in Quechua reproductive health is not limited to FP. In 2005 an ‘intercultural birth’ policy was introduced that sought to bring women away from communities and into hospitals through the implementation of ‘Quechua cultural elements’ of birth amongst the biomedical settings. However, it has been argued that this policy was a veiled attempt to alter the subjectivities of Quechua women through an enforced association with biomedicine, thereby ‘whitening’ them (Guerra-Reyes, 2014). Social whitening through biomedical- association is well documented in the Andes; for example, women may seek IVF treatment or caesarean scars as proof of their interaction with the ‘whiter’ biomedical environments (Roberts, 2012).
