Universal Terms & Conditions HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad (“HSBC”) Universal Terms & Conditions (May 2019 Edition) EFFECTIVE DATE: 21 May 2019 for all new customers of HSBC Bank. 11 June 2019 for all existing customers of HSBC Bank as at 21 May 2019. Consolidation & Set-Off Conditions of the relevant account/product/service opened with or provided by HSBC and HSBC Bank’s Terms and Conditions for Personal Internet Banking as may be amended from time to time at the absolute 3. Customer’s Details and Obligations discretion of the Bank. 4. Joint Accounts Account Statements 5. Specimen Signature of Authorised Signatory(ies) 1. (i) Where account statements are applicable, they are sent monthly or, at such other intervals as instructed by the Customer or as stated in the applicable Specific Terms & Conditions or account-related 6. Amendment of Terms & Conditions documentation. The Customer agrees to promptly check and reconcile the contents of each account statement and 7. Financial Crime Risk Management Activity transaction record from the Bank with the Customer’s own records to see if there are any errors, omissions, discrepancies or irregularities (collectively “Irregularities”). 8. Suspension/Closure of Account If the Customer does not notify the Bank in writing of any Irregularities within 60 days from the account 9. Collection, Processing statement date, the contents of the account statement including the Irregularities shall be taken to be in and Sharing of Customer order and conclusively authorised by and binding on the Customer. Information (ii) The Customer agrees that if the Customer did not register: (a) for email statements, or provide the Bank 10. Tape Recording with any e-mail address; and/or (b) did not register for PIB e-statements, or as a user of PIB, the account 11. Document Management statement would be sent via paper statement in hard copy to the last known address in the Bank’s record and a fee (as stated in the Bank’s Tariff and Charges which can be viewed at www.hsbc.com.my) would be 12. “Know Your Customer” charged for each account statement issued. 13. If the Customer owes any debt (whether actual, contingent, present or future) to the Bank and/or HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad (“HSBC Amanah”) (the Bank’s wholly-owned subsidiary) solely or jointly with any 16. Customer’s Security Duties other person including any unpaid withholding tax (collectively “Indebtedness”), the Customer agrees that the 17. Use of Card Bank may do the following: 18. Use of Debit Card (a) consolidate the credit balances in all the Customer’s accounts with the Bank (where balances are in different currencies, the Bank may convert one currency to another using its spot rate of exchange on the 19. Cheque & Cash Deposits day of conversion); 20. Foreign Currency Cheques (b) put a hold on such amount of the credit balances which the Bank estimates in good faith to be sufficient, 21. Inward Remittances including taking into account exchange rate fluctuations (if applicable) of the amount of the Indebtedness plus any accruing interest or other charges; 22. Outward Remittances (c) after the end of 7 days’ prior notice, apply such credit balances (even if it involves uplifting any deposit 23. Carrying Out Payment/ before maturity date) against the Indebtedness (where the balances and Indebtedness are in different Remittance Instructions currencies, the Bank may convert one currency to another using its spot rate of exchange on the day of 24. Kartik* Introduction Global financial markets today are in the midst of an extraordinary revolution. New products, new technology, and an explosion in cross-border financial activity have combined to transform traditional patterns of finance. The past two decades have witnessed the transformation of international financial markets by three key developments: globalization of the financial services industry; functional integration of the banking and securities industries; and financial innovation, particularly in the derivative products area. Banks are the principal players in the international financial markets. Since the 1960s,' international banking has grown rapidly in scale and scope, developing a diverse range of services and activities. Recent years have seen a wave of mergers amongst international banks, driven by competition, globalization, technology and deregulation, producing more powerful players. Nevertheless, such financial developments can be of any value only when they contribute significantly to growth and poverty reduction. Therefore, it is necessary to examine developments in the financial sector, and analyze their impact on larger developmental processes. Traditionally, financial services companies have rarely been clubbed under one moniker. There are commercial banks, investment banks, insurance companies, brokerages, mutual funds, etc., but very rarely have they been seen as operating in one sector or satisfying one need, although all of them aim to satisfy the same underlying consumer needs, which are the temporal transfer of money, safety, security, and liquidity of investments. This paper is an attempt at tracing the evolution of the concept of "universal banking"3 , a development through which banks conduct deposit taking and lending, securities underwriting, as well as a range of other undertakings such as insurance, investment management, and corporate and advisory services.

    TOP-50 MOST INFLUENTIAL WOMEN IN FINTECH Methodology In the survey, 123 applicants involved in the development and promotion of the Ukrainian fintech sector were selected. 292 applications were received and 123 were selected and submitted to the expert jury for further voting. Basic screening of candidates was conducted among women working in banks and non-banking institutions, payment companies, startups and the public sector. The selection criteria was experience and results of work in the financial sector, publications on the fintech topics, participation in specialized activities, a proactive position in the promotion of innovative programs and products in the field of finance. The final list includes 50 women who are recognized as the most influential in FinTech industry of Ukraine. The women in the catalog are listed alphabetically by name. Garten* Is universal banking a solution to the problem of bank fail- ure? Many critics of the United States' fragmented banking structure believe so. The United States Treasury Department based its recommendation to allow banks to affiliate with finan- cial and commercial firms on the assumption that "the blending ,ofbanking, finance and commerce will create a stronger, more diversified financial system."1 Bank regulators in France, Ger- many and Italy cite universal banking as an explanation of their nations' low rates of bank failure compared with that of the 2 United States. As the cost of bank failure continues to mount, this argu- ment for universal banking becomes especially compelling. If bank failure rates are an appropriate yardstick of financial sta- bility, the European-style universal banking model has proved to be much more stable than our own unique fragmented finan- cial structure.3 Nevertheless, two questions remain unanswered.
