O perfume permeia todos os capítulos deste livro, envolvendo aspectos relevantes no que tange à cultura, religião, comunicação e também a importância de alguns perfumes icônicos na história. PERFUME, MODA E CULTURA: ISABELA MONKEN VELLOSO FREDERICO BRAIDA ESTUDOS REUNIDOS (ORG.) PREFÁCIO: QUEM ESTÁ AÍ? FAUSTO VIANA2 Ninguém escreve ou organiza um livro impunemente. Um livro é um filho, um grito no ar, um manifesto, um sofrimento ou uma alegria, um prazer, um medo, um desejo que se entrega ao leitor e de quem se espera as melhores reações (im)possíveis. Não se faz um livro esperando que nada aconteça – ao contrário, é para acontecer alguma coisa que escrevemos. Isabela Monken Velloso e Frederico Braida generosamente me convidaram para fazer a abertura deste projeto ambicioso de ambos: Perfume, moda e cultura: estudos reunidos. O título revela a profundidade da aspiração de firmar o perfume como uma ampla área de estudos na academia. Meu ímpeto inicial foi usar a arte dramática, minha área principal de pesquisa, para ilustrar a importância do tema e da publicação que chega agora às mãos do leitor. E logo pensei nos exemplos de William Shakespeare (1564-1616), um dos maiores dramaturgos de todos os tempos. Vê-se, portanto, o porquê do título. “Quem está aí?” Esta é a primeira fala do texto Hamlet, escrito por volta de 1600. Um soldado de plantão está, na verdade, apavorado aguardando uma nova aparição do fantasma do pai de Hamlet, que morrera assassinado. Minha tentativa era introduzir, como faz o livro Perfume, moda e cultura, as muitas abordagens oferecidas pelo tema perfume. Ora, qual é a sensação que levou o soldado a temer tanto assim os barulhos noturnos? É o cheiro da morte, o aroma espectral carregado de nuances e significados. Mas de súbito parei e pensei: quem vai ler esta abertura? Que viajante busca esta fonte - o livro - para matar sua sede, ou, melhor ainda, se perfumar nos seus inspirados capítulos? Quem está aí? Quem é você, leitor? Talvez seja um leitor que, como eu, pense em organizar este universo perfumado de formas distintas. São conceitos tão usados no cotidiano que seus significados podem ficar restritos. Perfume é coisa boa, cheiro bom, aroma agradável. Olor. Rosa, do compositor Pixinguinha, gravada pela primeira vez em 1917, usava justamente esta palavra: 2 Fausto Viana é pesquisador de indumentária, moda e trajes de cena. In this study, marketing mix elements include product, price, place, and promotion. Data collection was done through the administration of structured questionnaire to 160 consumers from eight supermarkets, and shopping malls in Yangon. This study used descriptive and quantitative research method to testify the result. Multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the marketing mix influences and descriptive statistics is used to describe demographic background and consumption information of respondents. Both primary and secondary data are used. Primary data are collected by interviewing with structured questionnaire. Secondary data is obtained from textbooks, journals, articles, internet websites and previous theses. According to descriptive statistics, respondents agree upon the influence of product, price, and promotion on consumer purchase intention. And respondents are less likely to agree upon the influence of place on consumer purchase intention. Based on the multiple regression analysis, this study found that product and promotion have significant influences on consumer purchase intention.

People, especially city dwellers, are receptive to the foreign and modernized cultures, causing the evolving shift in lifestyle and values. Increase in purchasing power as a result of higher disposable income including higher personal care and beauty consciousness lead consumers to higher attention to personal care and beauty products. As a result, this industry has been enjoying robust growth. However, most cosmetic products seen in the market are imported from overseas, especially from Thailand. As Yangon is a very promising consumer market, it is consequently rather highly competitive. The researcher was then interested in studying the factors influencing purchase intention of female consumers aged 20-60 years old. The objectives of the study are 1.) to explore the current situation of cosmetic industry in Yangon 2.) to identify factors influencing purchase intention and 3.) to provide recommendations to cosmetics exporters or any interested parties. The research analysis was conducted based on the information from consumer and a business operator interviews as well as the subsequent quantitative data acquired from 315 survey respondents during August - October 2017. According to the research findings, brand, quality and price of a product, including social influence all have influence on purchase intention.

Mr Jan Heino, the new Assistant-Director General of the Forestry Department has written the editorial of the restyled Non-Wood News. I am fully aware of the social, cultural and economic importance of non-wood forest products (NWFPs) in the lives of many people – both in my own country, Finland, and worldwide. Over the years, I have been impressed by how Non- Wood News has managed to capture this importance, as well as the diversity of NWFP actors, in its many articles, features and reader contributions. CONTENTS I also fully recognize the need for further protection and promotion of traditional forest related knowledge (TFRK), which is closely linked with the cultural and intellectual heritage of indigenous people and other forest dwellers. 3 Special features Their practices can form a significant part of sustainable forest management.
