Rákóczi Ferenc Kárpátaljai Magyar Főiskolán belül működő Hodinka Antal Nyelvészeti Kutatóközpont – mely az 1999-ben létre- jött Limes Társadalomkutató Intézetből nőtte ki magát – 2001-től folytat Kárpátalján nyelvészeti, mégpedig társasnyelvészeti kutatá- sokat. A nyelvészeti műhely egyik alapító tagja a Termini Magyar Nyelvi Kutatóhálózatnak. A Hodinka Antal Nyelvészeti Kutatóközpont munkatársai a kezdetektől fontosnak tartják a kárpátaljai magyar nyelvhasználat sajátosságainak szisztematikus leírását, empirikus alapkutatások végzését a Kárpátalját jellemző két- és többnyelvűségről, az anya- nyelvi, államnyelvi és idegen nyelvi oktatás problematikájáról, az identitás és etnicitás kérdéseiről. A labovi elveket – a nyelvészek társadalmi felelősségéről (lásd Labov 1982) – szem előtt tartva, hasznos nyelvészetet, társadalmilag hasznosítható kutatásokat (vö. Kontra 2010) végzünk, az eredményeket pedig igyekszünk a kárpá- taljai magyar közösség javára fordítani. Amit csinálunk, az alapjá- ban véve alapkutatás, ami társadalmilag hasznosítható ismereteket és tudást eredményez. Ilyen jellegű kutatásainkat az motiválja, hogy az intézet másfél évtizedes működése alatt számos olyan társadalmi problémával találtuk szembe magunkat, melyeknek nyelvészeti vonatkozásuk is van; rengeteg tudományosan megalapozatlan nyelvi téveszmével találkoztunk; s közben nagy mennyiségű nyelvi adatot is sikerült összegyűjtenünk. Folyamatosan figyelemmel kísérjük a kárpátaljai magyar nyelvhasználatot, az ukrajnai nyelvpolitikai, nyelv- és oktatástervezési folyamatokat, reflektálunk a kisebbsége- ket, a kárpátaljai magyarságot érintő, nyelvi vonatkozású esemé- nyekre, jelenségekre. Az a tanulmánykötet, melyet a kezében tart az Olvasó, azokból a kutatási eredményekből mutat be ízelítőt, melyekkel a Hodinka Antal Nyelvészeti Kutatóközpont munkatársai foglalkoznak. A tanul- mányok – természetesen – nem ölelik fel a kutatóközpontban folyt vagy épp folyamatban lévő összes kutatási témát, de azért, remé- nyeink szerint, ízelítőt ad abból, mivel foglalkozunk. A kötetben he- lyet kaptak velünk szorosan együttműködő kollégák írásai is, akik egykori vendégkutatóként vagy a főiskola, a Filológia Tanszék oktató- kutatójaként Kárpátalján (is) végeztek/végeznek nyelvészeti vonatko- zású kutatásokat, vagy munkásságuk kapcsolódik régiónkhoz (is). 8 * Szerkesztői előszó Jelen kötet a 2015-ben indult sorozat, a Tanulmányok a Hodinka Antal Nyelvészeti Kutatóközpont kutatásaiból immáron ötödik kötete (Márku–Hires-László szerk. 2015, Hires-László szerk. 2016, Márku– Tóth szerk. 2017, Karmacsi–Máté szerk. 2018). A kötetben szereplő tanulmányok gerincét a többnyelvűség és a regionalitás adja: a kutatások a nyelvhasználat, az identitás, az oktatás, a nyelvoktatás, a nyelvi jogok, a kárpátaljai etnikai és nyelvi sokszínűség történeti és jelenlegi kérdéseit boncolgatják. A kötetben szereplő tizenöt tanulmányt négy nagyobb tematikai egységbe soroltuk. Az első egységet (A nyelvészet műhelyeiből) Márku Anita és Bartha Csilla közös tanulmánya nyitja. A tanulmányban internetes nyelvi gyakorlatokból gyűjtött korpuszon vizsgálják a nyelvi variabilitást és kontaktusjelenségek, valamint a kreatív nyelv- használat mibenlétét és mikéntjét, és a multimodalitás megnyilvánu- lásának egyik módját kép-szövegek, mémek elemzésén keresztül. Fenyvesi Anna tanulmányában arra keresi a választ, hogy a veszélyeztetett nyelvek, a kisebbségi kétnyelvűség, és a digitális (technológia által közvetített) nyelvhasználat mely pontokon talál- kozik, valamint hogy ezek a metszéspontok milyen új szakmai kér- dést, kihívást (esetlegesen felelősséget) támasztanak ma a kétnyel- vű, kisebbségi és veszélyeztetett nyelvű nyelvhasználatot kutató nyelvészek számára. Máté Réka tanulmánya egy nyelvileg és etnikai- lag vegyes lakosságú kárpátaljai településen, az ukrán–magyar nyelvhatáron található Izsnyéte községben vizsgálja a többnyelvűség jeleit. Gazdag Vilmos tanulmányában egyrészről azt kívánja bemutatni, hogy milyen hatással bírt a Szovjetunió idején az orosz nyelv a tag- köztársaságok nyelvére, másrészről pedig egy 2016-os kutatás adatai alapján azt is, hogy ez egyes korosztályok körében miként is változik néhány, a szovjet érához köthető kölcsönszó ismeretségi foka. Hires- László Kornélia és Csernicskó István egy empirikus (kérdőíves) szociológiai kutatás eredményeinek nyelvi, nyelvhasználati vonatko- zásait foglalja össze röviden. A kutatás egyaránt vizsgálta a kárpá- taljai ukrán és magyar lakosság nyelvválasztási szokásait, és az elemzés abból ad ízelítőt, hogy milyen hasonlóságok és eltérések fedezhetők fel a két csoport nyelvhasználatában. Kötetünk második tematikai egysége egy viszonylag új, ámde egyre divatosabb kutatási irányzat, a nyelvi tájkép területéről érkezett írásokat tartalmaz. Tóth-Orosz Enikő a Beregszászi járás, Karmacsi Zoltán pedig a kárpátaljai régió turizmusának nyelvi tájképét elemzi. Csernicskó István azt mutatja be ukrán nyelvű írásában, hogy a nyelvi tájképet korántsem a nyelvpolitika alakítja, az alulról szerveződő akciók is hatással vannak a nyilvános tér nyelvi konstrukcióira. The report is prepared with the cooperation of members of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association, the Transcarpathian Association of Hungarian Pedagogues, the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Ukraine, the A. Hodinka Linguistic Research Centre, and the T. Lehoczky Research Centre. It focuses on issues of implementation of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities in Transcarpathia, and aims to complement the government’s periodic report by shedding light on the perspective of the national minorities and the users of regional and minority languages and point out some problematic issues, which remain unsolved despite the ratification of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities. The following comments address issues raised in the Ukrainian Government’s report. They are structured according to the Articles of the Framework Convention. These comments are in no way comprehensive, and a lack of response to some of the Government’s statements should not indicate their acceptance or endorsements. Simply for the sake of brevity we concentrated on questions that seemed to be the most important, or where the most relevant recent developments have taken place. Mass demonstra ons of “angry ci zens” in Ukraine had objec ve reasons. This was a protest against ineff ec ve and corrupt govern- ment, against police and bureaucra c abuse of power, against unclear and dead-end policies of the President and the Government. All na onal libera on movements use the popular ideas and po- li cal sen ments that dominate the society as their posi ve mani- festo. Thus, exclusively le -wing ideologies were mainstream in the Russian Empire in 1917, radical Islamism was most popular in Arab countries during the Arab spring of 2012, whereas na onalism, also radical, turned mainstream in the Ukraine of 2013-2014. The book describes the development of Ukraine’s na onal- ist groups since 1991 un l present day. It focuses on the history of the parliamentary right-wing radical Svoboda party and the non- parliamentary Right Sector movement. The authors study the ideol- ogy, psychology and methods of poli cal struggle of these structures.

The ethnical structure of Maramureş is the outcome of an ongoing process that has passed through some important stages connected with the rise and fall of the empires that used to dispute neighbouring territories. Worth recalling is the way in which these empires referred to the religion of conquered populations, or of their allied peoples. Christianity with the Proto-Romanians goes back to the time of Apostle Andrew, it gradually developing until the 8th century, a period in which it became the official religion of the Byzantine Empire (AD 313 – the Edict of Milan), spreading out in the territories inhabited by Romanians. The political pressures of the neighbouring empires of Maramureş ceased after the Second World War and the ethnical groups inside the province would evolved "normally". A significant increase registered the Rroma population, while the other ethnical minorities and the Romanian population are declining through population aging. 1. HISTORICAL CONSIDERATIONS The Christian population of Moldavia and Wallachia was under the protection of the Patriarchate of Constantinople (10th – 19th cc) except for the years 1235–1393, when it was under the guardianship of the Tyrnovo Metropolitan See. Throughout that time, the Transylvanian Christians (inclusive of those in Maramureş) had a distinctively different situation. In AD 732, the iconoclast Byzantine Emperor Leon the Sirian, dissolved the Prima Justiniana Bishopric. Basil the Second (the Bulgaroctone) would Christian the Russians (roundabout the year AD 890) when Vladimir, the Great Knez of Kiev, married Anne, the Emperor’s sister after having helped the Byzantines fight the Bulgarians (Brezeanu, 2005).
