Given a trip origin–destination demand Assignment; matrix, this step determines traffic flow in each link, according to assumptions based on the behavior Fuzzy set; of drivers. Conventional assignment algorithms, which are mostly based on the Wardrop first principle Perceived travel time; of user equilibrium, assume that all drivers choose the shortest path to the destination, based on the Route choice; same travel time computed by travel time functions. However, in reality, driver perception of travel time Uncertainty. varies for a specific route. This paper presents a traffic assignment algorithm which assumes that driver perception of travel time affects route choices. Fuzzy set theory is used to define travel time perceived by drivers. A fuzzy equilibrium is suggested for the prediction of network flows. Next, a Fuzzy Incremental Traffic Assignment algorithm (FITA) is developed to utilize route Perceived Travel Time (PTT) for reaching the suggested fuzzy equilibrium. -

L2/20-246 Teeth and bellies: a proposed model for encoding Book Pahlavi Roozbeh Pournader (WhatsApp) September 7, 2020 Background In Everson 2002, a proposal was made to encode a unified Avestan and Pahlavi script in the Unicode Standard. The proposal went through several iterations, eventually leading to a separate encoding of Avestan as proposed by Everson and Pournader 2007a, in which Pahlavi was considered non-unifiable with Avestan due to its cursive joining property. The non-cursive Inscriptional Pahlavi (Everson and Pournader 2007b) and the cursive Psalter Pahlavi (Everson and Pournader 2011) were later encoded too. But Book Pahlavi, despite several attempts (see the Book Pahlavi Topical Document list at https://unicode.org/L2/ topical/bookpahlavi/), remains unencoded. Everson 2002 is peculiar among earlier proposals by proposing six Pahlavi archigraphemes, including an ear, an elbow, and a belly. I remember from conversations with Michael Everson that he intended these to be used for cases when a scribe was just copying some text without understanding the underlying letters, considering the complexity of the script and the loss of some of its nuances to later scribes. They could also be used when modern scholars wanted to represent a manuscript as written, without needing to over-analyze potentially controversial readings. Meyers 2014 takes such a graphical model to an extreme, trying to encode pieces of the writing system, most of which have some correspondence to letters, but with occasional partial letters (e.g. PARTIAL SHIN and FINAL SADHE-PARTIAL PE). Unfortunately, their proposal rejects joining properties for Book Pahlavi and insists that “[t]he joining behaviour of the final stems of the characters in Book Pahlavi is more similar to cursive variants of Latin than to Arabic”. -

Dürst, Aoyama Gakuin University Abstract Ruby is a purely object-oriented scripting language which is easy to learn for beginners and highly appreciated by experts for its productivity and depth. This presentation discusses the progress of adding internationalization functionality to Ruby for the version 2.4 release expected towards the end of 2016. One focus of the talk will be the currently ongoing implementation of locale-aware case conversion. Since Ruby 1.9, Ruby has a pervasive if somewhat unique framework for character encoding, allowing different applications to choose different internationalization models. In practice, Ruby is most often and most conveniently used with UTF-8. Support for internationalization facilities beyond character encoding has been available via various external libraries. As a result, applications may use conflicting and confusing ways to invoke internationalization functionality. To use case conversion as an example, up to version 2.3, Ruby comes with built-in methods for upcasing and downcasing strings, but these only work on ASCII. Our implementation extends this to the whole Unicode range for version 2.4, and efficiently reuses data already available for case-sensitive matching in regular expressions. We study the interface of internationalization functions/methods in a wide range of programming languages and Ruby libraries. They are descended from the Imperial Aramaic script used in Iran during the during the Achaemenid period (549–330 BCE), the Seleucid period (330–210 BCE) and the early Parthian period (210 BCE–224 CE). By the second century CE the Parthian script had evolved, and was used as the official script during the first part of the Sassanian period (224–651 CE). The main sources of Parthian are the inscriptions from Nisa (near present Ashgabat, Turkmenistan) and from Hecatompolis, as well as from texts in Manichean script, and a number of Sasanian multilingual inscriptions. In Pars in what is now southern Iran however the Aramaic script evolved differently, into the Inscriptional Pahlavi script, which was used regularly as a momumental script until the fifth century CE. The Psalter Pahlavi script was used in Chinese Turkestan and is so named because of its used in a fragmentary manuscript of the Psalms of David. This script itself developed (or decayed) into the ambiguous Book Pahlavi script which was replaced by the Avestan reformed script. -

Introduction. The Warang Citi script is used to write the Ho language. Ho is a North Munda language, which family, together with the Mon-Khmer languages, makes up Austro-Asiatic. Warang Citi was devised by charismatic community leader Lako Bodra as part of a comprehensive cultural program, and was offered as an improvement over scripts used by Christian missionary linguists. Ho people live in the Indian states of Orissa and Jharkand. In Jharkand, they are found in Ranchi, Chaibasa and Jamshedpur, and in villages like Pardsa, Jaldhar, Tekasi, Tilupada, Baduri, Purtydigua, Roladih, Tupu Dana, Jetia, Dumbisai, Harira, Gitilpi, Karlajuri, Sarliburu, Narsana, Gidibas Kokcho, Lupungutu, Pandaveer, Jhinkapani, Kondwa. According to the SIL Ethnologue, there are 1,026,000 speakers of Ho. There are at present two publications in the script: a magazine Ho Sanagam (‘meeting’ from Hindi saṅgam), which comes out yearly and Kolhan Sakam, which comes out biweekly. Today, the Ho community can be characterized as still a primarily oral community, with an emergent literary tradition. Many Ho do not write their language in any form.
