The loan agreement in the amount of US$80 million was signed on April 30, 2012, and the Project was declared effective on Public Disclosure Copy December 11, 2012. The main objectives of the last supervision mission, held on September 2014, were to supervise implementation progress, socialize the Project with the new technical staff in the Page 1 of 8 Public Disclosure Authorized The World Bank Report No: ISR16499 technical and administrative dependencies of the Ministry of Health (after government elections), and to discuss a request for Project restructuring from the Government. All Project activities are currently underway and several key procurement processes are expected to be finalized by December 2014. Disbursements are expected to increase significantly over the next 9 months. La micro-región tiene una extensión de 87.05 Km2. El río Jiboa, con una longitud de 63 Km, sirve de limite natural de la micro- región en la parte noroeste (límite municipal de Jerusalén, 6 Km). Al norte, la micro-región es atravesada por la carretera internacional CA-1 (por el municipio de San Cayetano Istepeque) y una vía férrea (de la Compañía Ferrocarriles Nacionales de El Salvador, FENADESAL) atraviesa la parte central de la micro-región sobre los municipios de Tepetitán y San Cayetano Istepeque.

    El Impacto de la Tormenta Tropical No.12 en El Salvador Desde el pasado lunes 10 de Octubre de 2011, la región centroamericana ha sufrido los embates de la Tormenta Tropical No.12, la cual ha originado intensas lluvias en todo el territorio nacional. Las prolongadas y fuertes lluvias que han caído sobre el territorio salvadoreño han generado la pérdida de vidas humanas, miles de personas albergadas, destrucción de infraestructura vial, viviendas en mal estado y pérdidas importantes en la agricultura. Derrumbes, deslizamientos e inundaciones ya han ocurrido en aquellas zonas del país, donde ha caído un mayor nivel de lluvias. 1 El Salvador es uno de los países más afectados por las lluvias en la Región Centroamericana. El acumulado actual de lluvias ya supera las lluvias que se tuvieron con el Huracán Mitch en 1998, donde se registraron 861 mm de lluvia acumulada. En varias zonas del país, ya se registran datos acumulados de lluvia que superan este valor. Por ejemplo en Huizúcar se han tenido 1,075 mm de lluvia, en Chiltiupan 900 mm, en Los Manantiales 889 y en Juayúa 844 mm. Esta excesiva acumulación de lluvia ha generado una serie de derrumbes y deslizamientos, que han generado un incremento en el número de fallecidos. Hasta la fecha, las autoridades nacionales contabilizan la pérdida de 32 vidas humanas, daños en más de 2,000 viviendas, más de 20 mil personas evacuadas, las cuales se encuentran siendo atendidas en los 261 albergues puestos en funcionamiento a nivel nacional. A medida que las lluvias persisten, muchos municipios se han visto en la necesidad de abrir más locales de albergues, ocupando centros escolares, casas comunales, iglesias y otro tipo de establecimientos.
