Hicks Airfield continues to be in the hot spot with our great location. Hangars for sale or rent are hard to find, with calls everyday wanting to be at this airfield. With this growth a few safety issues that need to be addressed and are being studied and confident that a good solution can be found. But as always, it is very difficult to please everyone. Just a reminder that we need to make sure to observe the “30-foot from yellow center- line” on taxiways. Compliance is important to allow aircraft to move unobstructed to the runway. Recent changes in monitoring parking compliance have helped tremendously with taxiway obstructions near the café area. PLEASE DO NOT drive on unpaved surfaces…. especially the safety zone between the runway and taxiway. Our neighbor Northwest Regional (52F) is undergoing major changes with a new board and consolidation of their Airport. They have a website with good information about changes. Might want to take a look if you have a few minutes. Last board meeting had a better than average turnout, and just remember the Airfield is in good physical and financial condition. Thanks to ALL that make that happen, and NOTHING out here is so critical that emotions or hard feelings divide the airport as we have seen in the past. Next board meeting is June 9th at HANGAR 111 at 7:00 PM. And…….as always – this is your Airfield your attendance and voice needs to be heard. Best Regards, Tom Martin President – Hicks Airfield Pilots Association VOLUME 31 ISSUE 3 3 HICKS AIRFIELD PILOTS ASSOCIATION Minutes for Board Meeting– May 12, 2016 Meeting called order at 7:01pm by President Tom Martin Board Member Jay Pratt was absent the meeting was held at 111 Aviator Drive. ACTION: Notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). SUMMARY: This action proposes to amend the Class D airspace at Fort Worth Spinks Airport, Fort Worth, TX, and the Class E airspace extending upward from 700 feet above the surface at Bourland Field, Fort Worth, TX, and Mesquite Metro Airport, Mesquite, TX, which are contained within the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, airspace legal description, and Stephenville Clark Regional Airport, Stephenville, TX. The FAA is proposing these actions as the result of airspace reviews caused by the decommissioning of the Glen Rose VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) navigation aid, which provided navigation information for the instrument procedures at Bourland Field and Stephenville Clark Regional Airport, as part of the VOR Minimum Operational Network (MON) Program, and to bring the airspace legal description for Mesquite Metro Airport into compliance with FAA Order 7400.2M, Procedures for Handling Airspace Matters. The geographic coordinates for Fort Worth Spinks Airport; Bridgeport Municipal Airport, Bridgeport, TX; and Stephenville Clark Regional Airport and the names of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; Lancaster Regional Airport, Lancaster, TX; Bourland Field , and Stephenville Clark Regional Airport would also be updated to coincide with the FAA’s aeronautical database.
