We were lucky enough to only have to cancel two competition nights with one due to excessive heat and the other with heavy rain and thunderstorms. Our athlete numbers were slightly down for the season 2014-2015 however our committee will try and market the local public schools to increase our sign on registrations for the following season. The representative season started with the Zone Championships at Glenbrook and with a week of torrential rain leading up to the carnival it looked like it was going to be delayed at the final hurdle, however it went ahead and was a great weekend where all our athletes performed outstandingly and the Glenbrook Little Athletics club should be commended for hosting a great carnival. The Western Ranges Regional Championships held at Parkes made for a very enjoyable weekend with the top performers of the weekend being Aiden Miller with four gold medals, and Brooke Keller and Caitlyn Ferrier with a swag of medals. The way all the athletes conducted themselves on and off the track was a credit to them. All their parents and grandparents should be congratulated for getting them out to Parkes and more importantly showing them “The Dish”. State championships were held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre at Homebush and the club was well represented with 39 athletes competing. The best performers were Brooke Keller with two gold medals (Long Jump and Triple Jump), Lianna Davidson one gold medal (and State Record – Javelin), Toby Camilleri one gold medal (Discus), Tully Murphy silver medal (triple jump), Caitlyn Ferrier a silver medal in the 400mtr and Caleb Fairweather a bronze medal in the 80 metre hurdles. Big congratulations to all that performed, many coming away with personal bests. I personally would like to thank club coach Marilyn Pearson and her helpers Laurie Fairweather, Milton James and Suzy Murphy for all their tireless effort in training the athletes to better themselves. A big thank you to Belinda James and Val Cheyne for their efforts in the canteen and all those parents who have assisted in the canteen and on the barbecue. To all the Senior athletes, thank you for your assistance in running the Tiny tots program and helping to develop our future champions. Club captains Tahlia Blanch and Johnathon Blunden also a big thank you, your leadership to the younger members of the club has been outstanding. To each and every one of the age managers and parent helpers thank you, without your efforts Friday night competition would not be possible. To all fellow committee members thank you for your tireless efforts throughout the season, it is greatly appreciated. A special mention to Susan Ferrier, I applaud you for all that you do behind the scenes to enable this club to function the way it does. Darron Blanch Chairperson Secretary’s Report The 2014-2015 season was my first in the role of Secretary, and we have had a very busy but successful season. I applaud my fellow Committee members - their hard work and willingness to take on extra roles, as well as running our competition nights makes it a pleasure to work together. The extra effort needed to organise our athletes and their families to travel to our Zone and Region Championships shows with our excellent Team Spirit and athlete performances. Many of our Committee members are also Officials, I think that shows their commitment to the Sport. Our Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at McMahons Park Hall and were well attended throughout the season. Our Presentation Night was a great celebration of all our athlete’s hard work and success, I am looking forward to the 2015/16 Season. Suzy Murphy Secretary Treasurer’s Report Kurrajong Bilpin Little Athletics continues to operate with a positive balance sheet. We continue to operate with a significant Term deposit investment and have ended the season with funds in both our general operating and canteen accounts. We were successful in acquiring a $500.00 Innovation and Technology Award from the Annual Conference this year provided by IMG Sports Technology Group. Our Athlete Registrations were strong enough to provide sufficient operating capital for the season coupled with excellent financial management and responsibility for the clubs funds the year ended with surplus funds for start up of the 2015/2016 season while continuing to support and provide an amazing athletic experience to all our Athletes. Last year KBLAC hosted the State Cross Country and Road Walks and although the funds raised from this were not as significant as we anticipated we have learnt a lot as a club to hopefully make this event more of a successful revenue raiser for us next year. As in most years our Canteen was a revenue raiser for the club providing a great service on Friday nights and additional funds for the Club. This year, just as in others, takings varied in the canteen because of weather and holiday periods and its effect on Friday night attendance. This year we were able to purchase a new set of High Jump Mats for all the athletes to enjoy on club nights making High Jumps safer and fun to compete in for all the athletes. We have also purchased some varied other sporting equipment to add to and replace our existing stocks. Kurrajong Bilpin Little Athletics Centre is in a strong position leading into 2015/2016 season. Alison Dunning Treasurer Registrar’s Report 220 Athletes registered with Kurrajong Bilpin Little Athletics Centre this season, seven down on the number last season. Congratulations to all athletes for their outstanding efforts. Thank you to the wonderful Committee for running this outstanding club. Thank you Marilyn for being a wonderful coach, we are very lucky to have you. Thank you to our age managers and parent volunteers for their help in making KBLAC a great club to be a part of. Best wishes for next season. A very special thankyou to all the athletes who regularly attended training during the season. Your enthusiasm and dedication are so inspiring. You are a great delight to work with! You always make me so proud to be part of our great Club. A huge thank you also to our wonderful Club Captains this season - Tahlia Blanch and Jonathan Blunden. You have been there all season constantly supporting and encouraging all our young athletes and your wonderful sportsmanship has been a great example for them to emulate. Congratulations to all of our State Athletes and many thanks for the exciting weekend of competition you provided. A special congratulations to medal winners Brooke Keller, Lianna Davidson, Caitlyn Ferrier, Caleb Fairweather, Tully Murphy and Toby Camilleri. A special thankyou to all the parents who supported these athletes so enthusiastically over the whole two days of competition. I know it was much appreciated. Congratulations also to all our prize winners, particularly Brooke, Lianna, Caitlyn and Tully. Their outstanding results speak for themselves. KB athletes have been outstanding throughout the season competing at several State and National Championships. Caitlyn Ferrier and Shayne Campbell were our most successful athletes winning their very first Australian Junior medals. Both won Bronze in their respective events. Tully Murphy also deserves a special mention after jumping a 70cm PB in his Triple jump to place an excellent 6th. Renee Hardy also had a top 8 finish with a PB competing up an age group in her 3000m walk. Our ex KB athletes also had another busy and successful season with Ian Dewhurst representing Australia at his first Commonwealth Games in the 400m hurdles and placing an excellent 12th overall (3rd in his heat and needing 2nd place to make final). Sara Klein and Jack Bangel were invited to compete in all of the High Performance Track Classics with Sara placing in all 3 of her hurdle comps. Jack placed 3rd in Adelaide. At the Australian Open Championships both Sara and her twin Kirsty were amongst the medals with Silver in 400m hurdles and 10,000m walk respectively.
