Jason Mohammad presents highlights of all the action and joined by former Wales assistant manager, Kit Symons and ex-international, Carl Robinson, to provide expert analysis on BBC One Wales. Commentary of the match is provided on BBC Radio Wales by Rob Phillips and former Wales & Everton captain Kevin Ratcliffe. Iestyn Daniel 02920 322115 / [email protected] 2 CHILDREN IN NEED: THE BIG WELSH SHOW Sunday, 17 November BBC One Wales, 3.50pm Sean Fletcher and Sophie Evans present a jam-packed hour of music, entertainment, comedy and incredibly moving stories of children from across Wales who have been helped by Children in Need donations. Children In Need: The Big Welsh Show will round off and celebrate a week-long festival of fundraising around Wales. Joining the presenters will be musician Paul Carrack and musical theatre group and Britain’s Got Talent 2014 winners Collabro. Sophie Evans will also perform her version of the Eva Cassidy classic ‘Songbird’. Additionally, there will be an array of special appeal messages from celebrities such as Hayley Pearce, Matt Pritchard and the casts of Pobol y Cwm and Casualty. Children In Need is involved in numerous fundraising projects throughout Wales. MIXTUP is a fully inclusive, mixed ability youth club in Swansea. The club has transformed the life of one 14 year old girl with Williams Syndrome – a rare developmental disorder which, over the years, had affected her confidence and mental wellbeing. Attending the youth club has helped her come out of her shell and been a driving force behind raising her confidence to the level where she now actively takes part in karaoke sessions and has even joined a local drama group. MIXTUP has most definitely become her “happy place”. A children’s choir – made up of pupils from schools from Newport, Caerphilly, Llanishen and Treorchy – will take part in a spectacular performance of the Cyndi Lauper hit True Colours. They will perform from BBC Broadcasting House in Cardiff, in unison with choirs at 8 other locations around the UK. Choir master Eleri Roberts visits all four schools to get the pupils ready for their performance, which gives Sophie Evans an opportunity to visit her old school in Treorchy. Stars of the hit comedy series Tourist Trap, Mike Bubbins and Mari Beard, will also be making a special appearance as their Wow! Wales alter egos - corporate directors Wyn and Charlotte. Lewis Davies 0303 082 0396 / [email protected] 3 TOURIST TRAP Monday, 18 November BBC One Wales, 10.35pm Episode 4 of Tourist Trap sees Wow! Wales going big on healthy holidays. To them, they’re ‘almost’ as important as unhealthy holidays. CEO Elaine attends a networking event for successful women in Swansea, where she bumps into Meinir Evans from the Organic Wellness Centre (played by co-writer Sian Harries). W.O.M.B (Women of Monumental Business Networking) is all about sharing the steps that they have overcome in business. Elaine happens to share a bit too much about her concerns and fears though, much to everyone elses bemusement. A walking tour approaches corporate directors Wyn and Charlotte with the aim to be authenticated by Wow! Wales. The pair meet up with guide Martin, who takes them on his gruesome tour with a difference – a True Crime Murder Tour. It’s not for the faint hearted as Wyn finds the graphic details a bit too much and soon feels quite unwell from it all. Going bare faced and wearing a plain black dress, she heads out on five dates with five lucky guys. The men have no idea that Sophie - who loves three things: her family, her dog and make-up - is a beauty queen. She must pick one of the five suitors to meet for a second date. Sophie has been used to wearing make-up from a young age, and a self- confessed follower of the Kardashians, so going make-up free is a big moment for her. Sophie says: “ The make-under for me is really important because I wear make-up on the daily, and I would like to be able to go out without it on.” After choosing her man for the second date, Sophie then faces another dilemma, whether to sport her go-to glam look, or to go make-up free and fresh faced. Will she find the perfect man to be her partner on the dancefloor? Or will she stay beauty queen and single? Jason Mohammad presents highlights of all the action and will be joined by ex- international Carl Robinson and former Wales assistant manager, Kit Symons, to provide expert analysis on BBC One Wales. Commentary of the match is provided on BBC Radio Wales by Rob Phillips and Everton captain Kevin Ratcliffe. Iestyn Daniel 02920 322115 / [email protected] 6 ONLY FOALS AND HORSES Thursday, 21 November BBC One Wales, 8pm Only Foals and Horses is a new documentary series that follows the stories and challenges faced by the passionate all-female team at an equine clinic near Carmarthen. Philippa Hughes and Lisa Durham are a charismatic and extremely passionate double act who are living the dream of doing things their own way. In this week’s episode the clinic rolls out the red carpet for a Welsh Cob of some pedigree as a deep laceration to its hind-leg requires some emergency attention. They also help the owner of the Welsh Mountain Ponies of Llanwrtyd-Wells secure the survival of the breed by undertaking a rarely-performed vasectomy on the stallion - all in the hope that he will still lead the herd of mountain ponies, but not be able to sire any more offspring. The pair also tend to one of the clinic’s oldest patients in need of some TLC as she prepares for some routine dental work. Adding to the drama involved in running a 24/7 equestrian clinic, there’s bad news at the clinic as Philippa has had to stop work suddenly to deal with a medical emergency of her own. Loved-up duo Daniella from Germany and Shane from Swansea are planning an unconventional wedding. They arrive at the shop together for Daniela’s final fitting abandoning the rule of not seeing the bride in her dress before the big day. They met in the 1990s but only got together three years ago after Daniela sent Shane a spontaneous ‘Happy Christmas’ message on Facebook. Samm’s best friend Fiona is engaged and comes in to find her dream dress and ask Samm a special question. Meanwhile, 52-year-old coffee shop worker Tania is getting married but it’s daughter Lynzi who has big plans for a bridesmaid dress to steal the show. Lynzi, in her mother’s words, is ‘very hard to please’ and has her heart set on a showstopper of a gown - even if it outdoes the bride’s outfit on the day.

By L. Frank Baum With Music and Lyrics of the MGM motion picture score By Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg Background Music by Herbert Stothart Dance and Vocal Arrangements by Peter Howard Adapted by John Kane from the motion picture screenplay By arrangement with MusicScope and Stage Musicals Limited of New York Chairperson’s Message Welcome to the Mercury Theatre and thank you for supporting CO2’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Societies like ourselves are finding it more and more difficult to find a show to perform that is not only suitable but has a fairly large cast. We become very frustrated when we hit upon a show only to find that the performance rights are not available. Last year’s production, Little Shop of Horrors was written for a cast of 10 but our production team managed to make it work with a cast of 40. I must congratulate them as we were awarded the NODA Best Musical in Area 11 in addition to Will Mugford who played Seymour being voted Best Young Actor in Area 11, so congratulations to all involved CO2 has performed The Wiz, a more upbeat production, but we thought this year we would produce what has become the classic MGM story as produced on stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company. So, no pressure on our production team who have enjoyed working with our cast of very talented youngsters, and I would like to thank them for all their hard work. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have helped with this production of The Wizard of Oz, plus the CO2 Committee for all their support, and you our audience who we continually rely upon to make this possible.
