Jerusalem

• The Israeli Government is planning to build a huge Synongue inside Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem City. Al Quds (November 1, 2006). • The IOF broke into the house of Mahmoud ‘Arafat located in Ras Shihada area in Shu’fat refugee camp, carrid an intensive house search and caused severe damage to the properties and a state of fear among his family residents. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • The IOF resumed wall constructions north of Jerusalem city and closed the main entrance of Al Bareed outskirt (Dahiyat Al Barid) with huge wall blocks in an attempt to connect this part of the wall with that extending from Qalandyia crossing along the Ramallah‐Jerusalem Roadway to reach Beit Hanina checkpoint opposite to Nusaiba Neighborhood north of Beit Hanina city. It is worth mentioning that this step will cause the complete isolation of Ar Ram town and Al Barid outskirt from Jerusalem city while isolating a number of Palestinian houses, schools and international organizations from their neighborhood. • Jerusalem Municipality demolished without pre‐notification the house of Resident Najati ‘Abdel Fattah Al Ja’bari from Ras Shihada area in Anata under the pretext that the land where the house lies belongs to a Jewish resident. The court also issued on the 28th of September 2006 seven other evacuation orders to Palestinian families living in ‘Anata Town. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Al Ja’bari has been living in his house for more than 3 years. Al Quds (November 10, 2006). • Jerusalem Municipality Court issued a military order to fine resident Mazen Abu ‘Iisha from Beit Hanina city north of Jerusalem city a penalty of one million and 370 thousand NIS for adding two storeys on his existing three storey building without License. The court gave Mr. Abu ‘Iisha a period of one year to issue a license for the newly added storeys or else they will be demolished. It is worth mentioning that 13 Palestinian families live in that building. Al Quds (November 10, 2006). • The Israeli authorities issued a new military order number 84/06/T that confiscates a total of 1248 dunums of lands belonging to the Palestinian town of ʹAnata in east Jerusalem. The lands will be used for the construction of the Segregation wall, to surround the Israeli settlement of Almon which is already built on lands belonging to from ʹAnata town. It’s worth mentioning that the confiscation order was issued on the 5th of October, but residents of ‘Anata town were only informed of it during the month of November. The confiscated lands are officially registered in the Palestinian land department (ʹAl‐Tabuʹ) as belonging to the families of ʹAbed Al‐Latif, Hamdan Abu‐Haniyeh, Iʹlayan and Helwe. • Israeli Occupation forces demolish a Palestinian house in Al Ashqariyeh area north in Beit Hanina city north of Jerusalem city under the pretext of being unlicensed. Residents of the house werenʹt allowed to salvage any of their properties. Wafa (November 14, 2006). • The IOF completely demolished the house of Zidan Raʹfat Al Shuwaky in Beit Hanina town north of Jerusalem city, under the Pretext of being built without license. Quds(Nov 26,2006). • The Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the Israel governmentʹs project to build the Segregation wall around Jerusalem is legal and permitted. The court said that the attorney general has proven that the wall was built for security reasons only, and that it was not built for political reasons, or to mark the borders of the state of Israel. Israeli bulldozers resumed their construction of the wall, in spite of the fact that this wall is dividing up Palestinian land and cutting off the city of Jerusalem from the West Bank. Maʹan (November 27, 2006). • The Israeli authorities prevented Palestinians from repairing the southern and eastern sides of the wall of the Al Aqsa Mosque located on the Haram Ash‐Sharif, also known as the Temple Mount, in the Old City of Jerusalem. Needless to mention that the wall faces real danger and might collapse. Maʹan (November 27, 2006).

Jericho

• The Israeli Occupation forces broke into the city of Jericho and besieged the house of Shadi Jouda, in Al Arab neighborhood of Jericho. Maʹan (November 21, 2006).

Bethlehem

• The Israeli Occupation Forces accompanied by tens of Israeli bulldozers surrounded the three storey house of Tha’er Ahmad Hassan in Al Saff street in Bethlehem city, forced its residents and people living in the neighboring houses to leave the houses under the threat of weapons searching for ʹwantedʹ men. The Israeli bulldozers then knocked down the three storey house of Mr. Tha’er and demolished the house of Musa Odeh located next to Tha’er’s house claiming that Tha’er took refugee in his house. Wafa (November 3, 2006). • Israeli settlers of Havat Gilʹad in the southern West Bank attacked the Palestinian farmers in their fields, under the pretext that the olive fields ʺbelongʺ to the Israeli settlement. Click here for more info about Settlersʹ violations • Israeli Occupation Forces surrounded Beit Jala Medical Hospital and detained Dr. Issa Je’neni, Head of the Hospital for few hours. The IOF also carried out an intensive search inside the hospital and caused damages to the properties. Wafa (November 3, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation Bulldozers demolished the house of Issam Ahmad Hassan in Al Saff Area in Bethlehem City. Muhammad Issa. The Israeli troops also carried an intensive house search and caused damages to the properties. Ma’an (November 6, 2006). • Israeli Bulldozers backed by tens of Israeli soldiers started razing vast areas of agricultural lands in Hindi valley area west of Juret Al Sham’a village and close to the settlement of Efrat in an attempt to continue wall constructions in that area. Lands are planted with vine and Olive trees and are considered as a source of income to the families of the village. Ma’an (November 7, 2006). Click here for more info • Israeli Occupation forces imposed a curfew on the village of Nahalin southwest Bethlehem city and called on residents with loud speakers to not leave their houses. IOF also set up a temporary checkpoint at the western entrance of the village and stationed there. Wafa (November 9, 2006). • Israeli surveyors have started surveying lands in Umm Salamuna village, south of Bethlehem city preparing for the construction of the Segregation Wall in the area and a crossing which will cause the confiscation of the agricultural lands which the wall and the crossing are to be built upon. Click here for related cases • Israeli Occupation forces set benchmarks in preparation for the construction of the Segregation Wall in the area and a passage that will link Gush Etzion Settlement block with the Dead Sea and the southern valley through the bypass road. It is worth mentioning that the segregation wall will come on 45 dunums of agricultural lands all planted with Olive and vine trees. Wafa (November 11, 2006). • Israeli Bulldozers started razing agricultural lands in ʹAqle hamlet in Wad Rahhal village south of Bethlehem city, located east of Efrat Settlement. The razing process came as a continuation to the razing that took place last week in Al Hindi Valley, An Nahle and Al Qoton Hamlets, and the village of Um Salamuna. Wafa (14, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation forces invaded the city of Bethlehem and besieged a house searching for wanted people. The house is owned by resident Sharif Abu Hadid and was partially demolished by the Israeli Bulldozers. Wafa (November 20, 2006). • The IOF broke into the Orphan Care Association in Al Saff Street in Bethlehem city and caused severe damages to the properties. belonging to Mariam Ismaeʹil in Khader Village, west of Bethlehem city. Al Quds (November 23, 2006). • Israeli occupation bulldozers commenced the construction of the segregation wall on lands of Artas Village. Vast areas of agricultural lands were razed in Hasnat and Abu Al Haratheen areas in Artas Village in preparation for the construction of the wall. Al Quds (November 29, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces demolished two rooms in Beit Sakaryia village southwest of Bethlehem city belonging to Issa Odeh and Tayseer Muhammad Odeh. The rooms lie close to the Israeli Settlement Kfar Etzion. The IOF also handed out five other residents warnings intending to demolish their houses located in the same area. Residents are: Nidal Khader Atallah, Muneer Abdulah Odeh Muhammad Mahmoud Odeh and Jamal Khaleel Odeh. Wafa (November 30, 2006).

Ramallah

• IOF erected a temporary checkpoint between Deir Ibzigʹ and ʹEin ʹArik villages west of Ramallah city and prevented people from heading to their destinations. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces prevented farmers in Bilʹin village west of Ramallah from ploughing their 2300 dunums of lands segregated behind the Segregation Wall. Wafa (November 24, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces issued a new military order number 89/06/T to confiscate 560 dunums of lands of Beit Iksa, An Nabi Samuel and Beit Surik villages’ located northwest Ramallah villages for the construction of the Israeli Segregation Wall. According to the military order, the wall will step on Block 2 of An Nabi Sameul Village, Block 3 of Beit Surik Village and Blocs, 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,11, and 13 of the lands of Beit Iksa village. Qalqilyia

• IOF broke into Izbat Tabib village east of Qalqilyia city and raided a number of Palestinian houses, among which, the house of the head of the village council. settlers from Ginot Shomron settlement. Land owners were unable to access to their lands over the last five years, as Israeli settlers prevented anyone from going into the fields under the threat of weapons. It is worth mentioning that the lands annual product is 7 tons. Al Quds & Ma’an (November 8, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces let go their wild animals caused a state of fear residents of Kafr Qaddum while harvesting their Olive trees which forced many of them to leave their products in their lands and leave. Residents reported that wild animals came from the nearby settlement, Har Hemed. Wafa (November 10, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation forces detained an ambulance belonging to the Red Crescent association in Qalqilyah at the Zaʹatara checkpoint south of Nablus on Monday for more than an hour. Maʹan (November 13, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces started erecting a segregation fence (of barbed wires) in the southwestern part of Azzun Al ʹAtmeh village south of Qalqilyia city north of the West Bank. The fence will stretch a length of 3 kilometers and will surround the village from all directions. In addition, the fence will isolate a total of 4 thousand dunums planted with Olive and citrus trees belonging to ʹAmir Family from Mas‐ha village, Raddad village from Az Zawiyah village, Ahmad and Ash sheikh families from Azzoun Al Atmeh village in addition to a number of agricultural houses. The wall will also isolate an artesian well and ten Palestinian houses belonging to Abdel Kareem Ayyoub, Hatem Salameh, Issam Ayyoub, Naji Salameh, ʹAtef Salameh, ʹAli Raddad, Hasan Raddad, Sami Qadous, and Zakiey Qadous. Wafa (November 13, 2006). • The Israeli forces broke into the West Bank city of Qalqiliya and broke into the house of Reuterʹs photographer, Mahmoud Al‐Shanti, and confiscated a large sum of money, computers and cameras, all belonging to him. The IOF also raided and searched an aluminum workshop belonging to another Qalqiliya resident, Ahmed Attiya, and damaged its contents. Maʹan (November 14, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation forces partially demolished the house of Al Hutary family in Qalqilyia city. Wafa (November 17, 2006). • IOF demolished the three storey house of Ramadah Hunzy in the south of Qalqilyia city. IOF also caused damages to the agricultural lands and the infrastructure in the area. AlFandaq area east of Qalqilyia city under the pretext of being unlicensed. Losses as estimated by owner about NIS 600 thousand. Wafa (November 22, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces demolished a house belonging to Naʹel ʹOdeh in the Wad Al‐Rasha area in south Qalqilyah under the pretext of being built without a building permit. The house was a shelter to six people. Ma’an (November 30, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces demolished a barracks for selling furniture owned by Jameel Talab in east Qalqilyia. The IOF also demolished three agricultural houses belonging to Hatem Nazzal and Shadei Bader. In addition, the IOF also demolished the one storey house of Mu’in Muneer Barham and a store for building and construction materials belonging to Abdel Rahim Sa’sa’. The IOF also warned Al Amal Charity society for the deaf north of Qalqiyia city to demolish a hut built on 100 meters area belonging to the society and gave them three days to remove it. Wafa (November 30, 2006).

Tubas

• Israeli Occupation forces erected a number of temporary checkpoints at entrances of Tammoun, Al Far’a and ‘Aqqaba villages north of Tubas City and hold up many Palestinian Cars and obstructed their movement while heading to their destinations. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces stopped tens of Palestinian cars traveling on the northern Valleys roadways and gave notices to the drivers. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • Hundreds of Palestinian cars were held up by the Israeli soldiers at Al Hamra Checkpoint south of Tubas city and hindered them from crossing the checkpoint. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • Israeli Settlers from Mechola settlement east of Tubas city carried out some activities against the people of Tubas. Wafa (November 5, 2006). • The IOF handed out resident of Al Madareb Area in Al Buqei’a area, east of Tubas military warnings to evacuate their house within 24 hours. The IOF threatened residents of the area of demolishing their houses and barracks if they don’t evacuate them. It is worth mentioning that the IOF demolished tens of houses in the last few years and forced many residents to leave the area under the pretext that they live in a close militarized zone. • IOF continued erected temporary checkpoints north of Tubas city for the third day on row. Residents of Tubas area reported that two temporary checkpoints were erected, the first at the southern entrance of ‘Aqqaba village while the second was erected on Tubas Jenin roadway. Wafa (November 7, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces erected three temporary checkpoints at the northern eastern and southern entrances of Tubas city and obstructed the movement of Palestinians trying to access these entrances to their destinations. The IOF also erected another temporary checkpoint at Tammun western Entrance and held Palestinian vehicles for hours. Wafa (November 8, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Force hindered residents of Tubas Governorate from heading to Nablus and Ramallah Governorates under the pretext that residents of the area aren’t allowed to leave it. IOF manning checkpoints gave no reason to this procedure. Al Quds (November 13, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces invaded the village of ‘Atouf east of Tubas city and dismissed Palestinians from their lands while they were grazing their sheep. Wafa (November 18, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces erected two temporary checkpoints north of Tubas city, one at Tubas ‘Aqabba roadway, while the second was erected at the entrance of ‘Aqqaba village. Wafa (November 18, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces erected a number of temporary checkpoints in Al Far’a area south of Tubas city, one opposite to the Gas station in the village while the second was erected at Wadi Al Far’a – An Nasariya roadway. Wafa (November 19, 2006). • The Israeli police have issued dozens of fines to Palestinian vehicles in Wadi Al Maleh area in the northern valley. Israeli Police also chased agricultural trucks which were transporting people of the area to their destinations and issued fines of large amounts of money to them. Wafa (November 19, 2006). • Israel Occupation forces holds up a number of water tanks near Samra hamlet east of Tubas city from providing water to villages of Al Buqeiʹa and the nearby villages under the pretext that these villages are located in a closed military area. Wafa (November 20, 2006). • Groups of Israeli settlers are moving to live in the settlement of Masskiyot established on lands of Wadi Al Maleh east of Tubas city. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • IOF erected a temporary checkpoint at the entrance of Aqqaba village north of Tubas city and obstructed the movement of the Palestinians heading to their destinations. Wafa (November 25, 2006). • IOF confiscates Cellular phones belonging to Palestinian residents at Tayasir Checkpoint east of Tubas city. Wafa (November 27, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces carry out some construction activities some 100 meters distance from Tayasir Checkpoint east of Tubas City. It is worth mentioning that this is the second time the IOF are carrying out such constructional activity in the area aiming at fortifying the checkpoint. Wafa (November 28, 2006). • The IOF erected a temporary checkpoint at the entrance of Tammun city east of Tubas city and delayed the movement of Palestinian Pedestrians and vehicles. Wafa (November 29, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces prevented Palestinian farmers from entering Al Buqei’a area east of Tammun village in Tubas Disrict under the pretext that this area is classified as closed military area. Wafa (November 29, 2006).

Hebron

• For the second consecutive day, the Israeli forces ransacked and took over the home of Jamil Issa Aldjamin and his family in the town of As Samuʹ, south of Hebron in the south of the occupied West Bank. The Israeli forces detained the eight family members in one room and prevented them from leaving the house. The Israeli forces also prevented anyone from approaching the house. Ma’an (November 1, 2006). • The IOF prevented resident of Fqeqis Village west of Hebron city and located close to Negohot settlement from Harvesting their Olive Trees planted on 7 dunums of lands east of the settlement. It is worth mentioning that Negohot settlement was established on lands of the village in year 1982. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • Israeli army patrols broke into Osama Ibn Al Munqeth School for males in Jabal Jawhar area in Hebron City and fired at students which caused a state of fear among students. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • Israeli military warnings to stop construction in eight Palestinian houses in Yatta town south of Hebron city and a ninth one which states the demolition of Tuwani Mosque in Tuwani village east of Yatta town. Houses are located in Al Mayya, Al Dirat and Um Al Fassa Hamlets. Makhamra, Yousif Ahmad Awad, and Muhammad Al Athra. Residents were only given one week time to object to the military warnings. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • IOF raided the houses of Noor and Radwan Ar Rifa’i Ahmad Al Ja’bari in Khadour Hamlet in Hebron City and carried out an intensive house search. Wafa (November 6, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces raided the house of Hashim Tayyem Al Rjoub in Wadi Abu Al Qamra neighborhood southeast Dura village. Other houses were also raided by the IOF, among the owners, the following was known: Muneer Abdel Majjid Abu Ghabboush. Wafa (November 7, 2006). • In a report issue by the Land research center in Hebron city assured that Bypass Road 60 Project plan that Israel is planning to construct, threatens thousands of dunums of agricultural lands of Halhul, Beit Ummer and Al Arroub camp and will cause the isolation of many historical sites in these towns. The plan will come on 7484 dunums of lands and will surround the villages of Beit Ummer and Saffa from three directions, north, east and south which will prevent any future development. The plan also surrounds Halhul town from the east and the north and will isolate about 2000 dunums of lands for the road and the settlement nearby, about 2.2 % of the town’s total area 25791 dunums. The road stretches from Gush Etzion junction and extends 720 meters towards in Halhul city, along bypass Road 60. It is worth mentioning that the road will extend a length of 7.685 km, divided into 3.270 in Beit Ummer lands (mainly in Apricot Hamlet, Al Tal’a hamlet, Abu Soda, Ifredis, Ash Shiekh valley, Wardan, and Beit Za’ta; while 1.790 will run on lands of Al Arroub village and 2.625 on lands of Halhul. Click here for more information • Despite previous coordination by the residents of the Tel Ar‐Rumaida neighborhood of Hebron, made with the Israeli authorities, in order to collect their olives, the Israeli settlers have attacked them, striking them and preventing them from going ahead with their work and stole the sheets residents use to collect the olives with. Ma’an (November 12, 2006).

• Israeli settlers of Ramat Yesha’ settlement aggressed on residents of Tal Al Rummeida neighborhood in Hebron city in an attempt to prevent them from harvesting their Olive trees planted on 50 dunums of lands extending from Ramat Yeshi’ settlement to the Islamic Grave Yard in the east and passing by Al Kartanatineh. • The Israeli occupation forces have detained Abdus‐Salam Abu Shkheidem, along with his sons and brothers from Hebron along with their agricultural tractors, for several hours, while they were collecting their olive crops near the Israeli settlement of Telem, in western Hebron. Ma’an (November 13, 2006). • Israeli settlers of Susia settlement located east of Yatta town, south of Hebron city took over 4 dunums of agricultural lands planted Olive trees located west of the settlement and belong to residents Muhammad ʹIqab An Nawajʹa in an attempt to annex it to the settlement. Wafa (November 14, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces prevented residents of Tuwani village, east of Yatta town along with Peace Activists from accessing their lands located in the vicinity of Susia settlement. It is worth mentioning that a total of 1000 dunums of Tuwani, Tuba and Imnezil villages are threatened to be confiscated at the hands of Israeli settlers. Wafa (November 18, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces closed Al Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron city for six hours and forced tight measures on residents of the old city as to allow Israeli setters living in the city to celebrate “Sarah’s Day”. On the other hand, Israeli settlers living in Kiryat ‘Arba’ and Kharsina settlements aggressed on a number of Palestinian families living in the vicinity and threw stones at them. Among the families, the following was known: Abu ‘Isifian Family. Wafa (November 18, 2006). • Israeli settlers of Ma’on settlement located east of Yatta town aggressed on a number of Palestinian Families living in Um Tuba village located close to the aforementioned settlement and caused severe damages to the properties. Among the families, the following were known: ‘Awad and Abu Jundiya. Settlers also aggressed on Residents who were grazing their sheep, destroyed water tanks and electric generators in the village. Wafa (November 19, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces took over the three storey house of Muhammad Darweesh Qurei’ in Al Shu’aba area northeast Hebron city and turned it into a military outpost. Wafa (November 19, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces holds up a school bus of 50 students at Al ʹArroub camp entrance north of Hebron city heading to their school in Beit Ummer town and arrested one of the students. Wafa (November 20, 2006).

Among the owners, Mr. Hammad ‘Ilian, ‘Awad and Isma’il ‘Awad were known. 15 other demolition warnings were handed out also to residents of Yatta town; seven Palestinian houses in Ma’een village were also warned that there houses will be demolished under the same pretext. Wafa (November 22, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces demolished the barracks of Mahmoud Muhammad Abu Qbeita located in the vicinity of Yehuda settlement south of yatta town under the pretext that the barracks was built without a license. Wafa (November 24, 2006). • The Israeli planning and organization department affiliated to the so‐ called ʹcivil administration in Judea and Samariaʹ announced three detailed planning schemes for three Palestinian villages located to the east of Yata town, Hebron governorate. These villages are: Zif, Al Buweib and Ad Dirat and located on bypass road number 356. Wafa (November 25, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces denies 25 students of Em Tuba village east of Yatta village south of Hebron city from going to their schools in the nearby Tuwani village. Wafa (November 27, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation army raided the West Bank town of As‐Samuʹ, south of Hebron, and erected many barriers in the streets of the town, harassed the residents and chased the school children, according to eyewitnesses. The IOA also occupied the house of Mohammad Rawashdah and used it as a military post, in addition to barricading the family members into one of the rooms. Maʹan (November 28, 2006). • IOF broke into Jamrora area west of Tarqumyia city west of Hebron city and demolished two offices out of four of the Palestinian General Petroleum Bureau under the pretext of being unlicensed. The offices are built on 150 square meters area. Wafa (November 29, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces demolished the 80 meters square house of Farah Ibrahim Jaber in Al Baq’a area close to Kharsina and Kiryat Arba’ settlements. Three other houses are threatened to be demolished as they received house demolition warnings in May 2006 and belong to ‘Ani Saleem Jaber, Imad Muhammad Bader Jaber and Fahmi Bader Jaber. Nablus

• In the Palestinian village of Qaryut, south of Nablus, Israeli settlers from Shvut Rachel have attacked the farmers while picking their Olives. Ma’an (November 2, 2006). • Israel Forces prevented Palestinian residents of the West Bank village of Deir al‐Hatab, near Nablus, from harvesting their olive trees in an attempt to prevent a confrontation between residents of the village and visitors to the nearby settlement of Elon Moreh distancing 1‐2 km away from the Olive grooves. Haaretz (November 2, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation Forces holds thousands of Palestinians at Iba Checkpoint west of Nablus City and forced people to wait for hours at the checkpoint. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • For the 15th Times on row, the Israeli Occupation forces took over the house of Muhammad ‘Innab situated in Abu Jalal Al ‘Ato’ot building south of Balata Refugee Camp and turned it into a military camp. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • Israeli occupation forces broke into Ya’eesh residential building in Nablus city and destroyed the doors of a number of apartments inside the building and forced its residents to leave the building under the threat of weapons, causing a state of fear among residents. Wafa (November 4, 2006). • Israeli Soldiers closed for three hours Iba checkpoint west of Nablus City and hindered Palestinian residents from passing through. Residents were forced to wait under the heavy rain until they were allowed to pass. Wafa (November 5, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces erected two temporary checkpoints at the entrance of Bazaryia village northwest Nablus city and obstructed the movement of Palestinians. Wafa (November 5, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces and Israeli settlers from Kedumim, Immanuel and Gil’ad in Salfit Governorate hindered Palestinian residents of Tal village southwest of Nablus city from harvesting their Olive trees. Settlers attacked Palestinian farmers on their way back from their lands and after harvesting their Olive trees and threw the Olive packs on the ground. It is worth mentioning that this road has been closed by the Israeli soldiers for more than one year and the Israelis are reopening it but with great difficulty as they reinforced the place with earth‐mounts in addition to the military watch tower stationed there and are obstructing the movement of many Palestinians trying to access this road. (November 8, 2006). • The evacuation of illegal West Bank outposts was underway again as reported by ynetnews website. Settlers of Yitzhar settlement South outpost in Samaria were handed eviction notices but failed to specify an eviction date. The notices were handed out to settlers by policemen of the Judea and Samaria District and Civil Authority personnel, in accordance with the instructions of Defense Minister Amir Peretz and instruct them to vacate the compound with their belongings immediately. Six families and several bachelors live in the outpost, which includes five permanent structures, a water tower, a structure used as a synagogue, a playground and an area designated for cultivation. Ynetnews (November 6, 2006). • The IOF staged into ʹEin Beit Al Mai refugee camp west of the West Bank city of Nablus and completely destroyed with explosives an office belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Maʹan (November 13, 06). • The Israeli police have issued dozens of fines to Palestinian vehicles driving between the West Bank city of Nablus and the Huwwara checkpoint south of Nablus. The Israeli police also took the licenses of several drivers and issued them fines while driving north of the checkpoint. These fines appear to target taxi drivers who work the route between Nablus city and Huwwara checkpoint in particular. • Israeli Occupations forces detained tens of Palestinian residents at Huwwara checkpoint south of Nablus city in the northern West Bank. IOF also re‐erected Yitzhar checkpoint at Huwwara village entrance after removing it sometime ago. Wafa (November 18, 2006). • IOF closes Beit Iba Checkpoint west of Nablus city for more than 3 hours and prevented Palestinians who were heading to their destinations from accessing the checkpoint. Wafa (November 19, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation army set up a new temporary checkpoint at the entrance of the village of Deir Istiya, northwest of Nablus. The soldiers were obstructing the movement of Palestinian citizens. The IOF also broke into Dei Istyia village mosque, without any consideration for the holiness of the building. Maʹan (November 21, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces and bulldozers broke into Balata refugee camp and Beit Al ʹAin village in Nablus city north of the West Bank and destroyed tens of civilian cars that were parking in the campʹs market. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • IOF closes 17 Checkpoint located north of Nablus city and prevented Palestinian residents from passing through. This checkpoint is the only entrance to villages and cities located north of Nablus city. Wafa (November 23, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces bombed the houses of Ghassan Al Madmooj and Abu ʹOmar Al Saʹeh in Al Qisariyia neighborhood in the Old City of Nablus north of the West Bank and partially destroyed them. Wafa (November 25, 2006). • The IOF staged into Balata refugee camp in the east of Nablus city and destroyed the Water Network in the area. Wafa (Nov 27,2006). • The Israeli forces have erected a new temporary barrier at the eastern entrance to the West Bank city of Salfit. The Israeli soldiers stopped all Palestinian vehicles and forced many passengers to get out of the vehicles and be searched. In another incident, the Israeli soldiers stationed nearby Zaʹatara military checkpoint, east of Salfit, stepped up their military procedures, and appeared to deliberately delay the searching of the vehicles. Salfit

Ad Dik – Bruqin entarnce, is the only entrance linking Salfit’s western part with its eastern one. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • Palestinian farmers of Salfit Governorate complain about the continuous harassments carried out By Israeli soldiers manning the agricultural gates that lead to their segregated agricultural lands. IOF force residents to wait for long hours before they’re allowed into their lands. It is worth mentioning that the opening of the gates is controlled by the Israeli soldiers. Al Quds (November 11, 2006). • The IOF completely demolished two Palestinian houses owned by Hamdan Rabeeʹ and Abed Al Majeed Mheisen in the north of Salfit city, under the pretext of being built without licenses. Wafa(Nov 22,2006). • Israeli Occupation bulldozers demolished the two storey house of Ahmad Musleh northeast Qarawit Bani Hasan a village in Salfit city. IOF also demolished a 400 square meters sheep farm belonging to Nabeel Yaseen Khaleel in the village too. Neither of the residents was allowed to salvage any of their belongingness. Wafa (November 23, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces closed the entrances of Bruqin and Kafr Ad Dik villages in Salfit Governorate with earth mounds and obstructed the movement of Palestinian residents. Wafa (November 26, 2006). • The Israeli forces launched a special balloon in the northern West Bank to photograph the progress of Israelʹs illegal separation wall. The balloon was launched from Al‐Irsal military base, north of the West Bank city of Salfit to photograph specific locations in strategic and sensitive areas. Maʹan (November 27, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces have demolished three commercial stores in the northern West Bank town of Kfar Haris, in Salfit governorate. The shops were demolished under the pretext of being unlicensed. Shops belong to residents Fathalah Mustafa Shaqour. Mr. Shaqour wasn’t allowed to salvage any of his belongingness. Israeli troops also established a flying checkpoint at the main entrance of the town, resulting in massive traffic congestion. Wafa & Maʹan (November 30, 2006).

Jenin

• The IOF staged into Kafr Dan village west of Jenin city and carried out an intensive house search in the village and caused severe damages to the properties. • The IOF erected a temporary checkpoint at the southern entrance of Qabatyia city and obstructed the movement of Palestinians using this entrance. Wafa (November 7, 2006). • The IOF erected a temporary checkpoint at Sanur village entrance southeast Jenin city north of the West Bank and obstructed the movement of Palestinians passing through. Wafa (November 9, 2006). • Israeli military forces have erected many temporary checkpoints in the areas of Jenin and Tubas. One checkpoint was erected at the entrance of Al Farʹa village, and the northern entrance of Tubas, near the Bathan valley, preventing cars from traveling to Nablus. Ma’an (November 12, 2006). The Israeli Occupation forces also prevented Palestinians from leaving the town of Arraba, south‐west of Jenin. Ma’an (November 12, 2006). • IOF detained hundreds of Palestinian residents at Al Bathan Checkpoint, at the northeastern entrance of Nablus city and hindered residents from heading to their destinations after closing the checkpoint for few hours during the day. It is worth mentioning that this checkpoint has been closed for more than 6 months and it was only reopened few days ago. Al Quds (November 13, 2006). • Israeli Occupation forces raided the town of Tammun, south of the city of Tubas and broke into one civilian family home owned by Awad Bani Odeh and searched it intensively, interrogating and provoking the residents claiming they were looking for ʺwantedʺ Palestinians. Ma’an (November 19, 2006). • The IOF besieged one house in Ad Damg area in Jenin refugee camp north of the West Bank and ordered its resident to evacuate the house under the threat of weapons. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • Three Israeli bulldozers accompanied by Israeli jeeps broke in the village of Fahmeh southwest Jenin city from its eastern entrance and started shooting against Palestinian houses randomly and broke the windows of a number of houses in the village. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces erected a temporary checkpoint at the eastern entrance of RaʹI village in Jenin and put tens of residentsʹ under inspection. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation forces demolished the two storey house of Ahmad Asʹad Abu Hassan in the village of ʹArrabuna, northeast of Jenin. The houses were demolished due to their closeness to the Segregation Wall. IOF also warned four other residents to demolish their houses under the same pretext. Tulkarem

• Israeli soldiers staged into Bal’a village in Tulkarem and raided one Palestinian house in the village, destroyed its doors and caused severe damages to the properties. Al Quds (November 1, 2006). • Israeli soldiers hindered Palestinian farmers in Deir Al Ghsoun from accessing their lands west of the Segregation Wall to harvest their Olive trees. Residents reported that Israel’s decision to not let Palestinian farmers access their lands is to take over the lands for future colonial projects in the area. Al Quds (November 1, 2006). • Israeli troops broke into the eastern neighborhood of Tulkarem city in the north of the West Bank and backed up with armored vehicles, broke into the Abu Safaqa house, ransacked it and took four Palestinian men prisoner: Walid Shqair, Mohammad Abdulatif, Walid Nasasra and Abu Safaqa. Ma’an (November 2, 2006). • An Israeli military force broke into the house of Sheikh Jabir Mohammad Jabir in Iktaba, north east of Tulkarem, and searched it invasively, before leaving the horrified family questioning even the reason for the raid. Ma’an (November 2, 2006). • The IOF closes ‘Innab military checkpoint east of Tulkarm and prevented Palestinians from heading to their destinations. Wafa (November 8, 2006).

• Israeli military forces broke into the ʺMass Pressʺ Palestinian center for journalism in Tulkarem and confiscated computers, TV recording machines and cameras belonging to the center. Ma’an (November 12, 2006). • Israeli soldiers manning Ar Ras checkpoint exercised harsh procedures against Palestinian accessing the checkpoint exemplified in intensive inspections of Palestinians vehicles; forcing Palestinians to step out of their cars under the threat of weapons and wait in long rows. Ma’an (November 15, 2006). • Israeli occupation forces surrounded the house of Muhamad Zitawi in Tulkarm city and started demolishing the first floor of the house. Wafa (November 16, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation Forces stepped up their measures against Palestinian citizens at the military barrier of ʹAnabta, east of the West Bank city of Tulkarm. Israeli soldiers help up hundreds of Palestinian students from Nablusʹ An‐Najah University and other Palestinian workers at the barrier. The Palestinian students and employees were blocked at the barrier and not allowed to cross. In addition, dozens of cars and buses were also waiting at the barrier waiting to be allowed to pass through. Maʹan (November 21, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces broke into the house of Shadi Fawwaz Qarʹani from Thinaba village east of Tulkarem city and searched the contents of the houses and caused some damages to the Properties. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • Israeli soldiers manning Jubara checkpoint, south of Tulkarem, prohibited Palestinian men and women, ageing less than 35, from passing through the checkpoint, and demanded that they returned from where they came. Israeli soldiers also used dogs to search the bags and luggage of each of the citizens, and among the vehicles and cars, arousing fear and anger amongst the citizens. At the Zaʹtara checkpoint, south of Nablus, the Israeli army used the same procedures in their searching operations there. They also forced Palestinian young men and women to stand in two parallel lines, before thoroughly searching them, and their vehicles, scattering the luggage of the citizens. Maʹan (November 25, 2006). • In Tulkarm, the Israeli occupation forces broke into the village of ʹIllar, northeast of the city of Tulkarem, and occupied the house of a local Palestinian man, Makawi Tawfiq Shadid. The Israeli army turned his house into a military barracks, and erected a military checkpoint on the village crossroads, obstructing the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Gaza

• A number of Israeli tanks entered the area of the destroyed Gaza International Airport near the Rafah crossing in the southern Gaza Strip and took up position around it. Ma’an (November 1, 2006). • The Israeli forces have threatened to break into the area of the Philadelphi axis, near the airport claiming to uncover tunnels used by Palestinian and for smuggling arms from Egypt into the Gaza Strip. Ma’an (November 1, 2006). • The IOF staged into Beit Hanun town north of Gaza strip and razed more than 30 dunums of Palestinian agricultural lands planted with the Citrus trees. Lands are owned by Al Qarman family. The IOF also destroyed the infrastructure in the area and caused severe damages to Palestinian houses. Wafa(Nov1,2006). • During its incursion to Beit Hanoun city, the Israeli soldiers moved from house to house by breaking through connecting walls. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • The Israeli bulldozers surrounded Beit Hanoun hospital and demolished parts of its wall. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • The Israeli forces took over the houses of Saber Abu Odeh and Rafeeq Al Kafarneh in Al Borah area east of Beit Hanoun city. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • Israeli bulldozers demolished five Palestinian houses in Beit Hanoun city and caused damaged to the neighboring houses. Al Quds (November 2, 2006). • Israeli war planes shelled on Dughmish Store for selling Cars’ tires in the eastern area of Khan Younis city and partially demolished the store. Quds (November 2, 2006). • The Israeli Warplanes fired at Palestinian Houses in Al Shaga’iya Neighborhood east of and caused damages to the Palestinian Houses. Wafa (November 3, 2006). • The Occupation Forces completely destroyed the historic An‐Nasir mosque in Beit Hanoun City, north of the Gaza Strip. Not forgetting to mention that the Mosque was built in the year 637 according to the Islamic calendar, following the ʹUm An‐Nasrʹ battle between the armies of Sultan Mahmoud Qutob and the Crusadersʹ armies in the area between Gaza City and Asqalan (todayʹs Ashkelon). Wafa (November 7, 2006). • the Israeli army has, on Monday, targeted the headquarters of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) in the Gazan city of Beit Hanoun, destroying it completely. • Israeli warplanes shelled on one Palestinian house in Al Tuwam area north of the Gaza Strip and destroyed it completely and caused damages to the neighboring houses. Ma’an (November 10, 2006). • In a report issued by Beit Hanoun Municipality stated that the city’s loss due to the Israeli incursion is estimated at 10 million USD Between house demolition, razing of agricultural lands and destruction of roads and infrastructure. During the incursion, 25 houses were completely destroyed, 400 others partially destroyed. Al Quds (November 11, 2006). • Israeli Occupation Forces fires at Palestinian Farmers in Al Faraheen area east of Khan Younis city south of the Gaza Strip and prevented them from coming nearby by their lands or utilizing them. Wafa (November 12, 2006). • The Israeli Occupation army entered the area near the Sufa crossing in eastern Rafah governorate approximately 800 meters into Palestinian territory, amidst heavy shooting and damaged the farmland under their tracks, and caused significant damage to the agricultural greenhouses in the area. Maʹan (November 13, 2006). • Israeli fired a rocket at a blacksmiths in Basatin Street in the Asqoula neighborhood and caused huge damage to the shop. The Israeli army claimed that the workshop was used to store weapons. The store belongs to Hatto Family. Maʹan (November 14, 2006). • The IOF stages into al Shouka area in the east of Rafah city south of Gaza strip and took over the international Gaza Airport and transformed it into military point, and razed about 6 dunums of Palestinian Agricultural lands planted with Olive trees owned by Suleiman al Weqly and destroyed the Water network in the area . Quds(Nov 14,2006). • Israeli Occupation forces destroyed the water network in Al Shoukeh area northeast rafah city south of the Gaza Strip. It is worth mentioning that this water network is a supply to 700 Palestinian houses in the area. One house is located in Ash‐Shatiʹ (Beach) refugee camp in Gaza City and belongs to residents Aziz Sharafi; two houses in Tal Zaʹtar in Jabalyia in the north of the Strip belonging to Nihro Masʹoud (four storey house) and Rafat Salman; one house belonging to Issam Madhi in Shboura refugee camp in Rafah; and the fifth house belongs to Abdullah Mahmoud and is located in the Jabalyia area in the north of the Strip. IOF also took position on top of Sa’ed Ibn Abi Wiqas Mosque and Khuweiter Company and started shooting at residents randomly. Wafa (November 21, 2006). • The IOF threatened to demolish two Palestinian houses in al Zaitoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza city. Houses belong to Jamal Siam and Raʹfat Abu ʹIshi. Wafa(Nov 21,2006). • Israeli Occupation forces demolished one Palestinian house made of Asbestos which belongs to Abu Saber Hamoudeh and is built in an agricultural area in Qleibou hill in Beit Hanoun city north of the Gaza Strip. IOF also razed Plastic houses belonging to Farouq Al Riyati in the same area. Wafa (November 22, 2006). • IOF broke into the house of Jamela Al Shanti in ʹIzbit Abed Raboo east of Jabalyia city north of the Gaza Strip and caused damages to the properties after carrying out a thorough search inside the house. Wafa (November 22, 2006). • IO Planes shelled on Al Ruwad playground in Al Farahin Area east of Khan Younis City south of the Gaza Strip and caused sever damages to the playground. Wafa (November 23, 2006). • IO bulldozers razed vast areas of agricultural lands planted with fruitful trees and a destroyed a poultry farm in ʹIzbit Abed Raboo in Jabalyia city north of the Gaza Strip which belongs to Al Jamal family. • In a report Issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs showed that the number of Olive trees in the West Bank is 9 million with an annual product of 43000 Ton of Olive Oil; Out of the total, about one million Olive trees planted on 58,000 dunums of Lands will be segregated west of the Wall once the constructions are completed. Al Quds (November 1, 2006). • In a report issued by the Palestinian Diaspora and Refugee Centre (Shaml) showed that during the last four months a total of 10000 Immigration applications for Palestinians in the West Bank were approved by the different consulates due to the current situations while 45000 others are awaiting answers. Al Quds (November 1, 2006). • The Israeli Forces demolished a number of houses and barracks in the unrecognized village of Al Taweel in Beer Al Sabe’ (Beer Sheva’) under the pretext of being unlicensed. Al Quds (November 1, 2006). • The Hebrew daily newspaper, Maʹariv, has reported that Israeli settlers have established a new body called ʺthe olive patrolʺ, which sends patrols of volunteers to ʺmonitorʺ the Palestinian farmers while they harvest their olives. The body consists of 12 settlers from each settlement, and is attended by a lawyer. The new body aims ʺto protect the security and the rights of the Israeli settlers during the collecting of the olive product, and to prevent theft on governmental properties. Ma’an (November 3, 2006). • In a report issued by the Palestinian central burea of Statistics showed that the percentage of Palestinians who do not work, whether or not they are seeking a job or not, increased from 28.6 % in the second quarter to 30.3 % in the third quarter of 2006. In comparison, the level in the third quarter of 2000, just before the outbreak of the , was 20.2 %. and in the Gaza Strip, it increased from 34.0 % to 36.3 %. The Hebron governorate registered the highest unemployment rate in the West Bank at 24.2 % of the population. This was followed by Salfit governorate at 22.6%. Ma’an (November 7, 2006). • In a tour of Gush Etzion and Rachelʹs Tomb in the West Bank on Tuesday, Knesset members from the right pointed out that there seems to be a new phenomena brewing in the West Bank: Illegal outposts erected by Arabs who are settling west of the security fence in order to get Israeli citizenship when the day arrives. Ynetnews (November 16, 2006). • In an article published by Arabs48 website showed that Israeli outposts located north of Jerusalem Governorate and close to Ramallah Governorate are being expanded. The Israeli Outpost Giv’at ‘Asaf which was built in year 2001 witnessed lately an expansion which increased the number of caravans in the outpost to 20 in addition to a permanent residential building. 3 other caravans were added to Neve Brat outpost which was established in 2003, in addition to completion of constructing a permanent residential building in the settlement. Another permanent residential building has been added to Neve Erez outposts; not forgetting to mention that this outpost has been evacuated in 1999 but Israeli settlers rebuilt it in February 2001 and today it contains 15 caravans and is inhabited by 8 Jewish Families. Other expansionist activities have been taken place in three other outposts, Blaji Maim, Harasha and Zaiet Ra’nan. Arabs48 (November 16, 2006). • As of mid‐January 2006, it will be illegal for Palestinians from the West Bank and the Jordan Valley to travel in Israeli (yellow) number plates, unless the driver, and the passenger, has the correct permits. The head of the Israel forcesʹ central command, Major General Yair Naveh, has issued orders banning cars with Israeli (yellow) number plates from transporting Palestinians from the West Bank and the Jordan Valley unless the driver has a permit to do so.These instructions will come into force sixty days after their announcement, meaning that as of 19 January 2007, anyone who violates this rule will be legally prosecuted; meaning, Palestinian Arabs in Israel who wish to transport their direct relatives in their cars, and it excludes West Bank Palestinians with the correct permits to enter Israel. Wafa (November 23, 2006). • The ban, instituted by GOC Central Command Yair Naveh on allowing Palestinians to ride in Israeli cars in the West Bank will mainly be enforced near the border with Israel, and not throughout the West Bank. The ban is primarily to prevent illegal Palestinian entrants from being smuggled into Israel in Israeli cars, whose occupants are usually checked less carefully. Haaretz (November 26, 2006). • In a report issued by Deshe Institute (Hebrew acronym for ʺImage of the Landʺ) Institute for the Preservation of Open Spaces showed that the built‐ up areas in Israel have increased 17‐fold from 1948 to the 2000s, and are expected to double by 2020. In the area north of Beʹer Sheva, population density is expected to increase from 640 people per square kilometer today to 900 people in the same area in 2020. Without guiding development wisely and making efficient use of the land, large portions of the remaining open land reserves in Israel will be destroyed. Haaretz (November 27, 2006). • In a report issued by ‘Adala Center, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel showed that Israelʹs Negev development plan for 2015 that is supposed to develop the Negev (Naqab) area in the south of Israel, including raising the socio‐economic conditions for the local residents is just a continuation to the Israeli policy of oppression of the Arab citizens of the area. The Negev 2015 plan, which was approved by the Israeli government in November 2005, intends to assign NIS 17 billion (~ US$4 billion) to the area which is intended to develop the housing and settlement of the region. According to the plan, most of the housing will be assigned for Jews, and a hundred Jews‐only farms are planned to be developed. The plan will exclude the Bedouins, in spite of the fact that they number some 17,000 people who have lived in the area for decades but are not recognized by the Israeli government. Ma’an (November 28, 2006). • The government proposes to extend the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law (the Temporary Order known as the ʺCitizenship Lawʺ), by two years, until the end of 2008, despite the harsh criticism leveled at it by the High Court of Justice. The current Temporary Order is valid until January 16, 2007, and must either be extended or replaced before that date.
