SECOND SECTION WEDNESDAY, MAY 19,1976 Page Seventeen They're horses even if they are two feet high !r

BY FRANK RICHARDS Princess Margaret has one. Caroline Kennedy has one. Oliv- ia Newton John has one. Now, there are two miniature horses on Mayne Island, with the promise of more to come. These are horses, just as much as the winner of the Kentucky Derby or the draught horse of a century back. Because a horse stands 20 inches high it doesn't make him any less a real horse. The only difference is that the big horse may go for a hundred bucks at the next sale, while the minia- ture horse may fetch $3,000 or he may be sold for $50.000. Ask Brian Delisle. He should know, because he is breeding miniature horses. The two on Mayne Island are his. There are about 350 miniature horses in the world today. Delisle terms them a genetic masterpiece. They have been developed in the past 100 years. that the miniature horse is not he told Driftwood, "and they make Two pictures are shown of the 32 inches high and is the North likely to prove useful.
