Resumo: O Skate é utilizado nas ruas como forma de lazer e estilo de vida, mas a realidade encontrada na escola é a sua utilização como meio de transporte e muitas vezes o mesmo fica guardado em um canto até o sinal de pegá-lo e voltar para casa. Assim o presente projeto pretende desmistificar os preconceitos ainda existentes em relação aos Esportes Radicais, em especial à modalidade Skate nas aulas de Educação Física no 8º ano período vespertino, dando ênfase aos aspectos contemporâneos que a modalidade enquanto fenômeno esportivo, cultural e social abrange na comunidade local, desta forma articulando a sua prática com as abordagens pedagógicas nas aulas, propiciando uma formação global dos alunos e que constitui num processo digno de formação humana. Caracteriza-se como pesquisa ação, qualitativa e de cunho social. Com a difusão do Skate, é necessário o aprimoramento do conhecimento de suas técnicas de ensino, mais seguras e eficientes, a fim de ampliar as formulações teóricas a este respeito. Acreditamos que o Skate pode ser inserido no contexto escolar, oferecendo aos alunos a possibilidade de vivenciar novas práticas esportivas. Tendo nos conteúdos uma abordagem complexa e crescente, porque em cada um dos níveis de ensino os alunos trazem consigo múltiplas experiências relativas ao conhecimento sistematizado, que devem ser consideradas no processo de ensino e de aprendizagem. Si la pratique du BMX freestyle n’est pas nouvelle en soi, force est de constater qu’elle a changé de braquet depuis plus de trois ans. Conscientes de l’attrait qu’opère le freestyle chez les plus jeunes, l’UCI puis le Comité International Olympique lui ont respectivement ouvert une voie royale en organisant les premiers championnats du Monde de la discipline en 2017 puis en choisissant de l’intégrer au programme des Jeux Olympiques de Tokyo. C’est une révolution et une juste récompense pour une pratique jusqu’ici organisée en marge de toute réglementation et de tout organisme officiel. Cette reconnaissance du freestyle en tant que pratique de haut-niveau lui donnera un écho supplémentaire et participera à son développement. Notre fédération a rapidement pris la mesure de ce mouvement à travers la création, dès 2017, d’un circuit de Coupe de France et d’un premier collectif France. Nous sommes désormais lancés dans un sprint passionnant et plein de défis. Pour la FFC, notre challenge passe par la structuration de la filière et donc la formation d’entraîneurs, la densification du calendrier de compétitions, la mise en place d’un plan de détection à l’échelle nationale et bien sûr la création d’équipements dédiés à cette pratique. C’est le cœur et le socle de toute cette stratégie.

Construction & Design: • A licensed and insured contractor specializing in planning, design, and construction of skateboard parks should be used. Good contractor policies and procedures should be established. Contractors should have their own project specific insurance policy that meets specified limits of liability. Certificates of insurance coverage should be obtained and verified. • Fire Planning - Even an all-concrete indoor park should need fire detection systems and fire protection/a sprinkler system. Check with local authorities to determine what precautions are necessary. • Emergency Egress - Emergency access to all areas, even the bottoms of concrete bowls, should be provided to facilitate extrication of injured participants. • Handicapped Access - In keeping with the Americans with Disabilities Act, access to the facility, parking, restrooms, and viewing areas should be fully accessible. • General Access - The site should be fenced. There should be a minimum of six (6) feet to control access and the facility should be locked after hours. Ample parking should be provided. Provide safe areas for spectators to assemble, so that they are screened from activity. • If the facility is to be operated at night, the facility should be well lit. • Building – There should be high ceilings, no poles, and a smooth but “sticky” surface. Concrete surface should not be “brushed”. • Segregation - Set up separate areas for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skaters.

The purpose of the thesis was to thoroughly research and describe the setup, planning, design, and construction of an efficient concrete skatepark by fo- cusing on the execution of the building process and the engineering aspects and requirements. One aim was to provide better understanding on the whole concept behind building a skatepark and point out and analyze different challenges in its construction. Another aim was to show the importance of skateboarding and of having such a facility in any municipality for the well-being of the young commu- nity and of youth in general.     REVERSING THE ISOLATION AND INADEQUACIES OF SKATEPARKS: DESIGNING TO SUCCESSFULLY INTEGRATE SKATEBOARDING INTO DOWNTOWN LURAY, VIRGINIA by DANIEL BENJAMIN PENDER (Under the Direction of Bruce K. Ferguson) ABSTRACT Skateboarding has become the fastest rising social sport in America. Historically, this sport tends to attract a stereotyped grungy, nomadic, “pack-oriented” crowd that thrives off of the buzz of performing tricks in urban spaces. Unfortunately, this self- expressive crowd, as well as the destructive nature of the sport, has caused much of the general public to form negative opinions of skateboarding. Because of this, in combination with recent trends to “green up” cities and to accommodate for the sport’s increasing popularity, skateboarding (both physically and socially) is being forced to the outskirts of communities where poorly-built, less accessible, and environmentally insensitive skateparks are taking the place of socially rich urban skating environments. This thesis investigates the social/environmental issues associated with isolated and inadequate skateparks and the implications they may have on the future of the sport. Insight gained is applied to a skatepark design for my hometown of Luray, Virginia. The initial approach was to pass an ordinance restricting this activity and then work with the business community and the police department to effectively enforce the ordinance. While this seems like a straightforward and sensible approach which would remedy the problem for the concerned business community, it turned out to be the action that inspired the skaters to seek a permanent place they could call their own. As you might expect, the police had a problem with this approach. They were required to enforce the ordinance, but had no good answer when they were asked, “If we can’t skate in the downtown, then where can we skate?” The eventual answer to this question came from an effort by the skating community to organize and lobby for a place they could use to practice and participate in their sport.
