We offer them especially for the poor, the lonely and the unborn, that the Lord will see their needs and pour out His love and blessing upon them.” Lord hear us. St Boniface RC Primary school Nursery have extended their application deadline to 30th. April 2021 for September 2021 places. 1 Please see the school website or call the office. CONFIRMATION. Following discussions with the bishop’s secretary it has been agreed that our young parishioners will receive the sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday May 30th. 2021 during the 10.45am mass. Final details will be agreed nearer this date, and we will notify all concerned of the arrangement for the lessons to recommence. Safety procedures while attending St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. • Parishioners who wish to attend masses/services must register with the parish secretary, Fergus Keogh, on 07970157922 and by completing a form available at the entrance on your arrival, and renewed every 4 weeks, but please in the first instance, call the number and register the mass you will be attending. Always sanitise your hands before entering and leaving the church. • All over the aged 11 and all adults MUST wear face masks. • The number of parishioners permitted to attend services will be 22, this will vary as we apply allowances laid down by the government. • Parking will be restricted at weekends to disabled drivers, those who drive disabled parishioners and parents with very young children who have prebooked the services. • All toilet facilities will be closed, if you believe you have a valid reason why you should be allowed access speak to the parish priest or secretary, you will be expected to thoroughly clean the toilet after use. • Safety signs must be adhered to for the benefit of all attending St. Josephs. • The church adheres to TRACK and TRACE and expects its parishioners to also do so. • To avoid delays at the exit area please have your donations to the church collections ready and place them in the basket, delays in this area cause problems with social distancing. We have been informed, with great sadness, of the death of Guy Roberts, who with his wife Jacqueline were staunch supporters of our church and parish. Guys funeral service will be at St.Joseph’s on Tuesday 6th. April commencing at 12pm followed by burial at Garth Road cemetery at 2pm. After discussion with the family we will inform parishioners of the arrangements for attendance at the funeral. We will inform you of any further news in the meantime please pray for Guy, may he rest in peace and pray to Mother Mary that she will comfort Jacqueline and her family. PARISHIONERS HOSPITALISED. In these troubled times it is vitally important that we are informed of all parishioners who are admitted to hospital. Please remember to telephone or email us as soon as possible making sure that you give your name and contact details and the name of the person admitted, do not be too concerned if you are unable to remember the name of the ward, we can find that, again please do not delay tell us as soon as the parishioner is admitted. All numbers are in the news-letter make sure you take two, one for your wallet/ handbag and one for home to have next to the telephone. We visited an elderly parishioner this week to make sure they were alright only to be told by the husband that his wife was in hospital but was due to come home two days later. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WISH TO AVOID. Fr Agnelo is one of the priests who is on duty at various days and times at St. Georges so there cannot be any excuse why we were not informed.     God has bestowed a Golden Occasion upon the Diocesan Catechetical Centre Fr. Romeu Godinho The Diocesan Catechetical Centre is celebrating the 50th year of its birth. God has bestowed upon us a Golden Occasion. We thank God for all the beautiful work of faith formation done during these 50 years in our parishes and schools, and for all the blessings received from God. The formal inauguration of the jubilee year was done with the celebration of a solemn Eucharist on 3rd June, 2018, at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa. The inaugural was held at the Basilica because St. Francis Xavier is the Patron Saint of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Almir de Souza. Fr. Almir was one of the members of the first diocesan Catechetical Committee. The Diocesan Catechetical Centre was established by the then Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Goa, Daman and Diu, Msgr. Francisco Xavier da Piedade Rebello, who through a Decree dated 7th March, 1969, substituted it for the Secretariat of the Christian Doctrine which was established on 25th September, 1952. Christianity in Goa: Though the Christian faith was brought to India in the first century by the Apostle St. Thomas, and probably also by St. Bartholomeu,1 the glorious chapter of the expansion of the Catholic Church in the East can be said to have begun after the European discovery of the sea route to India in 1498. I greet, you most warmly in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, those here present and those who have not been able to come. I greet each of you with deep affection and gratitude. It pleases me that this meeting with the clergy of India is taking place in the Basilica of Bom Jesus where the remains of Saint Francis Xavier are venerated. For this great Jesuit missionary has left to all of us priests an inspiring example of personal holiness, an exceptional thirst for souls, and an ardent zeal to share our spiritual riches with the brothers and sisters among whom we live.     Pastoral Letter To the Priests, Religious, Lay Faithful and People of Good Will in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman (Approved English version of the Pastoral Letter No. CP-Past/229/2015 written originally in Konkani language) YEAR OF MERCY My Dear Sisters and Brothers, In this Jubilee Year dedicated to Mercy, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and address to you this special Pastoral Letter. 1. When the fullness of time had come, God’s only Son, Jesus Christ, took human form and was born of a woman (cf. Gal 4: 4), bringing to humankind God’s boundless love and immeasurable mercy. Jesus Christ entered his Paschal Mystery in the context of this unfathomable mercy, so that it may remain with us till the end of times. In reality, the Paschal Mystery comprises the entire life of Jesus, right from his birth till the descent of the Holy Spirit. This is the Christ-Event. During the Last Supper, Jesus commanded his Apostles to celebrate his Paschal Mystery, so that, by this celebration, God’s mercy could be always present to humankind, making us all its beneficiaries (cf. Lk 22: 14-20). Besides this Thanksgiving Sacrifice, the depth of God’s mercy can be experienced in the Sacrament of Reconciliation instituted by Jesus (cf. Jn 20: 21-22). The Church has always been making God’s Mercy present to the faithful through this Sacrament. The Holy Father calls us to reflect on this gracious Mercy of God, make it an integral part of our Christian life and witness to it wherever we go.
