Agnelo and proved to be very productive, a number of events were agreed on and these will be in more detail in next week’s news-letter. There are however some items which can be started now, we ask for parishioners to sponsor the prize money for the grand draw and there are sheets on the entrance with amounts at the top for which we request sponsorship, please look and consider sponsoring the grand draw. We will also hold a bottle stall, which in previous years has been very popular, so look in your drinks cabinets and donate all those bottles of spirits which have been there for years. We are looking for sponsors to support our Grand Draw and we will put forms on the entrance for all interested to note the amounts they will donate. (b) St. Josephs will have a HARVEST FESTIVAL on Sunday 23rd September at the 10.45a.m. Mass. More details will be provided nearer to this date. (c) A Christmas Fayre/Party will be held on Friday 7th December; again more details will be provided nearer the time. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND AND SUPPORT OUR PARISH EVENTS. 1. HOUSE BLESSINGS: Fr. Agnelo will bless parishioners’ houses if requested. All requests should be made to Fergus Keogh, please make sure you give your correct details. His contact number is 07970157922 2. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS/LECTORS ROTAS: The new rotas, running from the beginning of July/end of September, will shortly be prepared. Please let Mary Edwards know as soon as possible if you expect to be away or unavailable at any time during this period. Please note that if I do not hear to the contrary I shall assume you are available throughout the period. Thank you, Mary 3. OUR FIRST HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE will be on Sunday 27th May at the 10.45a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. Agnelo and our Confirmation service will be on Sunday 3rd June at the 10.45a.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop Paul Hendricks. 4. TRAINING FOR CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES: Confirmation classes continue this Sunday after the 10.45 am mass. 5. FR AGNELO HAS DECIDED to hold a parish party on the 10th.June for both the young parishioners receiving their first Holy Communion and those being Confirmed can celebrate together. Celebrations can still take place after each event but on a lower note. 6. SIOLIM UNION (LONDON). Tony’s village in Goa is celebrating the feast of St. ANTHONY OF PADUA on the 17th. June at the Archbishop Lanfranc Academy, Mitcham Road, Croydon. Mass at 12 noon followed by Social. Tickets £15 includes snacks and a Goan meal. Children under 12 years free admission. Tickets available from Tony Fernandes 7. OUR LADY OF FATIMA. We have been advised that on June 9th our church will be honoured by a visit from the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima along with the relics of the children to whom Mother Mary appeared. This is marvelous news for St. Josephs and full details will be published as soon as we have them. 8. FUTURE EVENTS. Fr. Agnelo has arranged to say a KONKANI Mass on the 3rd. Sunday of each month beginning on Sunday 20th. May at 12.30 pm. On the second Sunday of each month there will be a procession within the church grounds after the 10.45a.m. Mass beginning on Ascension Sunday 13th May. We have also been informed that we will have an exposition of the DIVINE MERCY on 11th November, more details will be given as soon as we receive them. 9. THERE IS A BOX ON THE TABLE in front of Our Lady of Merton at the back of the church; we are asking parishioners to contribute to the cost of sending 2 parishioners to Liverpool for the ADOREMUS CONFERENCE for 3 days in September 2018. They will make a presentation to our parishioners on their return on the contents of the conference and how they believe St. Josephs will benefit from their attendance. 10. WE ARE CURRENTLY planting new shrubs and bedding plants to brighten up our church. All help will be gratefully accepted so if you can give any time on any day during the week. Please e-mail or telephone, on the numbers on the news- letter, your details with the day/s and times you can donate and we will contact you. We have a number of events planned for the rest of 2018 and have made changes to areas such as the shop and the entrance and more plants around the church. Let us know what you think. The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Gilligan, a member and supporter of our parish for many years will take place on 30th. May with requiem mass at 9.30a.m. followed by burial at London Road cemetery at 11a.m. EDDISON WHITE a local estate agent will sponsor our fun day if parishioners allow them to place their advertising board outside their properties. This is another easy way to generate funds. There are sheets on the entrance for those who will take part. It does not cost us anything but we receive funding in return. : .
