TODAY IS THE END OF THE SEASON OF CHRISTMAS PRIEST’S CHRISTMAS OFFERING Fr. Agnelo extends his gratitude for the Christmas offerings donated by our parishioners, as always you responded to the call. 1 CONFIRMATION. The lessons for the youth of the parish who will receive confirmation this year have been suspended. As soon as we receive authorisation to continue, we will e mail all. The first session will be for a complete day. The training is being led by Deacon Carlos Lozano assisted by Anita and Maria from St. Josephs. Following numerous weeks of detailing the safety arrangements for services at St. Josephs we shall in future reduce the volume of such notices and instead make bullet points of relevant instructions; • Parishioners who wish to attend masses/services must register with the parish secretary, Fergus Keogh, on 07970157922 and by completing a form available at the entrance on your arrival, and renewed every 4 weeks, but please in the first instance, call the number and register the mass you will be attending. • All over the aged 11 and all adults MUST wear face masks. • The number of parishioners permitted to attend services will be 22, this will vary as we apply allowances laid down by the government. • Parking will be restricted at weekends to disabled drivers, those who drive disabled parishioners and parents with very young children who have prebooked the services. • All toilet facilities will be closed, if you believe you have a valid reason why you should be allowed access speak to the parish priest or secretary. • Safety signs must be adhered to for the benefit of all attending St. Josephs. • The church adheres to TRACK and TRACE and expects its parishioners to also do so. LETTER FROM ARCHBISHOP JOHN WILSON. We have been notified of some parishes within the diocese who have had to close temporarily because the priest or stewards who help to keep the church clean have had to self -isolate. We cannot rely on the same small number of volunteers to continue to keep the church clean and sanitized after each service. Please step forward and help after each service, a church our size will not take long to keep safe. WE NEED YOUR HELP. We will start to dismantle the Christmas decorations and trees commencing this Monday. If you have an hour to help, we are looking for ideas to put our “crib” to good use, any suggestions” contact Fergus Keogh./?y Please note the times for all our masses and services, we are reverting to our original times which will make life easier 2 3.

God has bestowed upon us a Golden Occasion. We thank God for all the beautiful work of faith formation done during these 50 years in our parishes and schools, and for all the blessings received from God. The formal inauguration of the jubilee year was done with the celebration of a solemn Eucharist on 3rd June, 2018, at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa. The inaugural was held at the Basilica because St. Francis Xavier is the Patron Saint of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Almir de Souza. Fr. Almir was one of the members of the first diocesan Catechetical Committee. The Diocesan Catechetical Centre was established by the then Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Goa, Daman and Diu, Msgr. Francisco Xavier da Piedade Rebello, who through a Decree dated 7th March, 1969, substituted it for the Secretariat of the Christian Doctrine which was established on 25th September, 1952.     Pastoral Letter To the Priests, Religious, Lay Faithful and People of Good Will in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman (Approved English version of the Pastoral Letter No. CP-Past/229/2015 written originally in Konkani language) YEAR OF MERCY My Dear Sisters and Brothers, In this Jubilee Year dedicated to Mercy, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and address to you this special Pastoral Letter. 1. When the fullness of time had come, God’s only Son, Jesus Christ, took human form and was born of a woman (cf. Gal 4: 4), bringing to humankind God’s boundless love and immeasurable mercy. Jesus Christ entered his Paschal Mystery in the context of this unfathomable mercy, so that it may remain with us till the end of times. In reality, the Paschal Mystery comprises the entire life of Jesus, right from his birth till the descent of the Holy Spirit. This is the Christ-Event. During the Last Supper, Jesus commanded his Apostles to celebrate his Paschal Mystery, so that, by this celebration, God’s mercy could be always present to humankind, making us all its beneficiaries (cf. Lk 22: 14-20). Besides this Thanksgiving Sacrifice, the depth of God’s mercy can be experienced in the Sacrament of Reconciliation instituted by Jesus (cf. Jn 20: 21-22). The Church has always been making God’s Mercy present to the faithful through this Sacrament. The Holy Father calls us to reflect on this gracious Mercy of God, make it an integral part of our Christian life and witness to it wherever we go.
