While at Lane, she achieved a 3.919 GPA. ETHAN SMALLWOOD Smallwood was born in Durban, South Africa. After completing his studies at LCC, he plans to major in biological engineering at Oregon State University. He has achieved a 3.85 GPA at LCC. 5 SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES ALUMNI KEYNOTE AND DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD RECIPIENT, PATRICIA M. SCOTT, PRESIDENT, SOUTHWESTERN OREGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE Scott grew up in Wallowa and moved to Eugene to study at LCC. She holds a doctorate of education from Oregon State University and joined SWOCC in 1993, where she held increasingly responsible positions until becoming SWOCC’s sixth president in 2008. In 2019, Oregon Community College Association named her community college administrator of the year, and she is one of only two college presidents in the nation to serve on the two-year panel for the National College Athletic Association (NCAA). ASLCC PRESIDENT, AVA YUEN LEN EVERETT Ava Yuen Len Everett (pronouns She/Her) is the outgoing and openly trans LCC Student Body President who returned to college in 2018 after 10 years in the workforce. She graduates with three associate degrees culminating studies in biochemistry, pre- medicine and general studies and plans to pursue both a Ph.D. and Doctor of Medicine for a career in biomedical engineering and organ transplant theory. An active student leader, she served as staff director for Associated Students of Lane Community College Student Government (ASLCCSG), Oregon Students Equal Rights Alliance board member, and a proud member of the Asian Pacific Islander Student Union and the Gender Sexuality Alliance. Ava also took on the role as a Lane Student Advocate and member on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Students Association. FACULTY REPRESENTATIVE, LORI TAPAHONSO Lori Tapahonso is the Native American Student Program Coordinator at LCC and full-time faculty. She manages the development and implementation of programming for LCC’s Native American students. She teaches Native American leadership college courses and produces a summer youth college-readiness program for Native American high school students in Lane County. She is also the Steward of the LCC Longhouse. She comes to LCC with a strong background in administration and as faculty at several Tribal Colleges and Universities, including Diné College, Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute and Haskell Indian Nations University. 6 Congratulations, 2020 Graduates!
