Erfolgreich von Beginn an. Live eine der höchst geschätzten Bands überhaupt – man denke nur an die Tour, die Dave Grohl mit gebrochenem Bein im Thron sitzend absolvierte. Immer unterwegs in neue Richtungen, immer offen für neue Wege wie bei der fantastischen HBO-Serie „Sonic Highways“, dieser Liebeserklärung an die Geschichte der amerikanischen Musik. Im vergangenen Jahr haben die Foo Fighters begonnen, ihre Archive zu öffnen und bringen seither in regelmäßigen Abständen EPs mit so schönen Titeln wie „01070725“ oder zuletzt „00959525“ heraus. Darauf versammeln sie unveröffentlichtes Material, Akustik-, Cover-, Live- und sonstige Aufnahmen. Es scheint, als wolle die Band nach all der Zeit mal ein bisschen aufräumen und ihren zahllosen Fans mit diesen kleinen Perlen die Tränen in die Augen treiben. Die Charts werden die Foo Fighters damit sicher nicht stürmen, aber das werden sie verkraften. Das haben sie ja mit ihren offiziellen Alben schon oft genug getan. Allein die letzte Platte „Concrete And Gold“ ging in 13 Ländern an die Spitze und die Anzahl der Gold- und Platinplatten in der langen Karriere lässt sich nur annähernd auf etliche Dutzend schätzen. Wie viele Grammys die Foo Fighters bislang eingesammelt haben? Zwölf Stück, und fünfmal den Brit Award und sechsmal den Kerrang! Award und fünfmal den NME Award und die Liste könnte man lange weiterführen. Die entscheidende Quizfrage ist: Wie viele Auszeichnungen kommen dazu, wenn die Jungs um Dave Grohl ihr zehntes Studioalbum veröffentlichen werden? Die Foo Fighters haben sich jedenfalls für ihr Jubiläumsjahr verdammt viel vorgenommen. Live und auf der ganzen Welt wollen sie wieder unterwegs sein. Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

THE HOOT Volume 2 November 2017 “All Hail Macbeth” By Maria Heim and Maggie Mccormick No witchcraft was applied to The Timberlane Players performance of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” on October 27-29. Several performances took place throughout those dates, as well as different casts! The impressive shows included Nick Valhouli, Justin Nimmo and Austin Townsend playing the lead of Macbeth, as well as Liz McGowan and Amber Malkin as Lady Macbeth. The play was enriched in passion, gore, and insanity. For most actors, it was hard to comprehend the plot with the complicated lan- guage used. “Interpreting Macbeth in a way that respected Wil- liam Shakespeare’s meaning, as well as putting my own touch into it was a challenge for myself,” said Valhouli. Many actors had to do some serious research to help them better understand their characters, as well as the entire show. MacBeth has been a long but great journey for the cast that resulted in an even better production. The plot revolves around a man named Macbeth, who runs into three witches. These witches tell him that he will one day become King of Scotland. Shortly after this, he secretly murders the king and takes the crown for himself. This secret leads him more into madness. Eventually, he sets out to murder his ally, Banquo. These murders don’t only affect Macbeth, but they also have a large effect on Lady Macbeth. She is driven insane as well as her husband. She eventually kills herself, not being able to bear the stress of keeping Macbeth’s secrets.

The minimalistic album art follows the tradition of the Foo Fighters rarely appearing on their own album covers. The only exception is 2011’s Wasting Light , which captured the band in an artistically altered portrait. Dave Grohl started writing Concrete and Gold as he recovered from his broken leg. Grohl broke his leg when he fell off stage during a show in Sweden in 2015 and continued to perform while seated on a “throne.” The frontman’s leg didn’t make it back to 100 percent, and the Foo Fighters went on hiatus as Grohl stepped away from music to physically heal.
