The Dolphins will suit up for the first time next Thursday afternoon when they host a scrimmage against reigning City Section Open Division champion Birmingham. The teams last met in the first round of the City Division I playoffs when the Patriots prevailed, 26-21. Palisades’ first three games of the 2021 season are at Stadium by the Sea, starting with a Zero Week matchup Aug. 20 against Cleveland, which dealt the Dolphins their lone regular season loss, 28-25, in 2019. The nonleague slate also features games against San Fernando, Granada Hills, Reseda and Brentwood. Western League action begins October 1 at Venice, where the Dolphins were shut out by the Gondoliers 36-0 in April. Homecoming will be combined with Senior Night, as Oct. 22 is the Dolphins’ final regular season home contest. Palisades has been victorious in its last eight home games dating back to the 2018 season. In 2019 the Dolphins went undefeated in league play for the first time in 32 years. They won three of their four games in the spring, including two out of three league games. The playoffs were canceled because of COVID-19. Below is Palisades’ updated 2021 football schedule:

The Envirothon club participates in competitions. The club starts off by competing in the California State competition against other high schools on a variety of en- vironmental subjects such as forestry, aquatics, soils and wildlife. The winner of the State competition will then move on to compete in the North American competition against schools from the rest of the United States, Canada and China. The Pali High Envirothon club won State competition eight times, winning three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017. The 2016 team landed in third place out of 54 teams during the North American competition. The activities and competitions that Envirothon partic- ipates in have proved to be beneficial to students. “The competition opens up numerous pathways for college majors and careers,” Engelmann said. Engelmann added the only prerequisite needed before joining the club is “having the willingness to learn and try new things.” Envirothon is open to students in all grades.
