  • INSULAR URBANITIES Foreword
VOL 2. READER INSULAR URBANITIES Foreword. In a research process, we come across the most influential texts sometimes by chance, led by diver- sions of curiosity, on the margins of our initial research. Understood together, these texts progressively converge and interlock to consti- tute a way of thinking, seeing and envisioning the transformations of contemporary cities. The follow- ing corpus brings together essays of philosophers, thinkers, and ar- chitects. Each of the following text sheds light on a different facet of the proliferating phenomenon of insular urbanities. They allow us to place the insularization of ports in a more global context of deteritorial- LOUIS B. DE SAINT AFFRIQUE ization of urban territories. TU DELFT D-ARCH FALL SEMESTER 2019 Foreword 2 CHAIR CROSS DOMAIN STUDIO CITY OF THE FUTURE TEAM: ALPER ALKAN, ROBERTO CAVALLO, MAURICE HARTEVELD MICHEL FOUCAULT Of Other Spaces: Utopias and Heterotopias As is well known, the great and obsessive dread of the nineteenth century was history, with its themes of development and stagnation, crisis and cycle, the accumulation of the past, the surplus of the dead and the world threatened by cooling. The nineteenth century found the quintessence of its mythological resources in the second law of thermodynamics. Our own era, on the other hand, seems to be that of space. We are in the age of the simultaneous, of juxtaposition, the near and the far, the side by side and the scattered. A period in which, in my view, the world is putting itself to the test, not so much as a great way of life destined to grow in time but as a net that links points together and creates its own muddle.

  • Imadamente Equivalente Al Suroeste De Asia

  • Istituto Nazionale Per Il Commercio Estero LE ZONE FRANCHE COMMERCIALI NEGLI E.A.U
Istituto nazionale per il Commercio Estero LE ZONE FRANCHE COMMERCIALI NEGLI E.A.U. ICE Dubai Maggio 2004 1 I. LE ZONE FRANCHE NEGLI E.A.U.
