NAGAP Graduate Student Enrollment Management Grant

The Graduate Student Enrollment Management Research Grant is designed to encourage emerging knowledge and understanding of the complexities of graduate enrollment management including all aspects of admissions and recruitment, enrollment, retention, student affairs and success, graduation, and related areas.

Award Recipients Receive • $2,500 award, issued directly to the individual researcher. NAGAP will not pay institutional overhead or indirect costs. • One year of NAGAP membership with full privileges. • Travel and registration to the NAGAP annual conference during the year of the award. • Recognition at the NAGAP annual conference.

Eligibility and Guidelines The NAGAP Graduate Student Enrollment Management Research Grant is open to all individuals who are enrolled in and desire to conduct research in any aspect of Graduate Enrollment Management* activities and programs.

Group applications are not accepted. However, applicants are encouraged to collaborate with a research team or an academic committee.

Prior recipients of the NAGAP Graduate Student Enrollment Management Research Grant are not eligible. Members of the NAGAP Governing Board, chairs of standing committees, and members of the Research and Global Issues Committee are not eligible.

*Graduate enrollment management (GEM) is a comprehensive approach to the methods by which an institution recruits, admits, supports, retains, and graduates post‐baccalaureate students in their respective degree programs. This dynamic paradigm includes codependent functions working congruently to strategically manage overall enrollment levels and the student experience. Elements of the student experience include enrollment planning, marketing, recruitment and admissions, academic advising, financial aid, student services, retention, and alumni relations. Guidelines: • Applicants must demonstrate a record and knowledge of research experience relevant to . • The proposed project must be research‐based and contribute to the knowledge and understanding of the complexities of graduate enrollment management in higher education. • The project proposal must demonstrate a strong research design. • Applicants will be expected to conduct their research in an ethical and responsible manner following the research protocols of their academic institution. • The proposal must be a project that can be completed within one year. • Research must be original work of the investigator. • Applications will be judged on the quality of the proposed project, uniqueness of the research, as well as the confidence of the selection committee in the ability of the applicant to complete such a project. Research Grant Application Packet Requirements: • Intent to Submit (online submission by Jan. 18) • Application • Abstract of proposed research project • CV or resume • List of graduate coursework • Personal statement addressing interest in research topic and future career goals • Letter of support from major professor • Letter of support from a graduate enrollment management office at your institution • Proposal (There is no set length. Previous proposals have varied from 5‐20 pages.) • Timeline with completion date no later than March 15 of the following year • Any other supporting material deemed appropriate by the applicant

Expectations Research Grant recipients are expected to present their research projects at the NAGAP annual conference in the year of the award. The Research and Global Issues Committee will work with award recipients to submit a conference proposal.

NAGAP reserves the right to publish an abstract of the research and announce the recipients on the website, and to publish the full research papers in digital and print publications made available to NAGAP members.

Deadlines Complete applications for the NAGAP Graduate Student Enrollment Management Research Grant must be received by the NAGAP Executive Office by January 31. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Research Grant recipients will be selected prior to the NAGAP national conference, and notified no later than May. All applicants will be notified of the results. The research grant award will be disbursed by July 1.
