Agents of Metal Pt. 3
Agents of Metal Part 3 Lasse Öörni 1 2 NaNoWriMo 2012. Edited later. Certain scenes in this novel will spoil the game Cave Story (Doukutsu Monogatari.) The detailed descrip- tions of developing a 3D internet platform may also be disturbing or triggering to some readers. Read at own risk. Thanks to Laura Thurlin for additional battle scene writing! 3 4 1. The bombs exploded with a flash of blinding light and a brief full-spectrum blast of white noise. Next the shrill, upper-mid boosted double kick drum sound assaulted Ian's ears, and the flash was replaced by the rapidly changing PAR lights. Despite the large ar- ray of Marshall cabinets on the stage – and not one of them was fake – it took him some time to recognize the song and the presence of an actual guitar tone, but at last he did. He raised his beer glass in approval. The first song was Rising Force. The God of Swedish shredding, Yngwie Malmsteen, had taken the stage, though he was not yet visible through the thick fog. The intro guitar riff gave way to the first verse, and the bassist began to sang (after Ripper Owens’ depar- ture there was no actual front man), belting out the lyrics like a banshee on crack. Ian sung along hoarsely, for this was a classic he knew inside-out. Meanwhile he tried to catch a glimpse of Jo, who had pushed through the crowd to the front to observe the Maestro better. So far he was not able to see her, but was sure she was doing all right. -

Méi-Ra St-Laurent: "It’s kind of in the middle": The ‘Mid-Fi’ Aesthetic: Toward a New Designation of Black Metal Aesthetic of Recording. The Case of the Québec Black Metal Scene Abstract The designation of the black metal sound as “lo-fi” by academics is problem- atic, since it doesn’t reflect the contemporary black metal production. Field- work in the Québec scene show that the members designate their sound as being “in the middle” – or mid-fi as I advocate it. In this paper, I first define “hi-fi”, “lo-fi”, “authenticity” and “mid-fi” in the context of black metal. Then, I present different black metal sound aesthetic using audio extracts, frequency analysis, spectrogram images and ethnographic data. This analysis allow better qualify black metal aesthetic production today using the Québec scene as an example. Introduction Between April 2015 and December 2017, I conducted nineteen ethnographic interviews with twenty-five members of the black metal scene in the prov- ince of Québec (Canada) as a part of my doctoral thesis in musicology1. -
Live 4 Metal - Reviews
Live 4 Metal - Reviews http://www.live4metal.com/reviews-602.htm Home | News | Tour News | Reviews | Live Reviews | Interviews | Black Metal | Contact Info | Cradle Of Fun | Site News Allerjen - No Guts No Glory (Psychophonic Records) Review by Marco Gaminara This UK trio harking from Manchester consists of John Dower on vocals and bass, Paul Wilkinson on guitar and vocals and drummer Paul Tarbuck. And they are damned heavy. Musically they are thrash with the occasional blast thrown in for good measure, but vocally there are coarse and guttural growls that are as low as the detuned bass guitar and then slightly higher pitched growls in the range of the guitar. Originally recorded for another label in 2006, but only after severing those ties and whatnot, did it get released now. Opener and title track "No Guts No Glory" is a statement that these guys are willing to put everything on the line to make this as heavy as possible and then they proceed to do so. A simple guitar riff over pounded drums starts "Courage Will Find You" 'til the guitars kick in with full force and step everything up a notch. A funky slap bass intro takes us to "Scorch" where the guitars assist on the tune, and dual vocals of growls and deeper growls bounce along to the staccato beat. Plodding along like a mammoth, "Anger Personified" carries itself in a way that the better Bolt Thrower tracks do, with long drawn out growls and smashed snares. Slow and melodic from the outset "The Heartbreaker" pounds into "Demise Of The Prophecy" which keeps a similar pace at first and then steps things up to a great headbanging beat. -
Emperor Announce Additional Performances
For Immediate Release August 9, 2006 EMPEROR ANNOUNCE ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES Notodden, Norway: After triumphantly headlining the annual Wacken Open Air Festival and completing recent capacity performances in America, Emperor today announce two additional performances for 2006. Scheduled Saturday, October 7 Emperor will headline the fifth annual Motstoy Festival in the band's hometown of Notodden. Formed in 2002 by local youth and supportive arts organizations, this year's festival will also include appearances by Red Harvest, Mortiis, She Said Destroy and Pagan's Mind, among others. ”The Motstoy festival is a non-profit organization situated in Notodden that my company Mnemosyne Productions has endorsed since its start in 2002," says vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn. "As it is a no-alcohol arrangement with no age limit, it is a great opportunity for Emperor to play a local show and at the same time give younger fans a chance to see us live.” Ticket and sponsorship information can be found at the festival's official site located at www.motstoy.com . Emperor additionally confirm their return to England for an exclusive engagement at the famed London Astoria. Scheduled Saturday, October 28 the show will feature supporting performances from Candlelight Recording artist To-Mera and Nocturnal Art Productions recording artist She Said Destroy. "It’s great to finally come back to England with Emperor," says Samoth. "England is where we first started out in the early 90’s; signing to Candlelight Records and heading out on our first real tour. We’ve always had a strong following in England, both press and fans, and we’ve built up a strong relationship throughout the years with the folks at Candlelight Records and Plastic Head, so it was a very obvious choice for us to return to the United Kingdom. -
