    Lijst van gevallen en tussentijds vertrokken wethouders Over de periode 2002-2006, 2006-2010, 2010-2014, 2014-2018 Inleiding De lijst van gevallen en tussentijds vertrokken wethouders verschijnt op de website van De Collegetafel als bijlage bij het boek Valkuilen voor wethouders, uitgegeven door Boombestuurskunde Den Haag. De lijst geeft een overzicht van alle gevallen en tussentijds vertrokken wethouders in de periode 2002 tot en met 2018. Deze lijst van gevallen en tussentijds vertrokken wethouders betreft de wethouders die vanwege een politieke vertrouwensbreuk tijdelijk en/of definitief ten val kwamen tijdens de collegeperiode (vanaf het aantreden van de wethouders na de collegevorming tot het einde van de collegeperiode) en van wethouders die om andere redenen tussentijds vertrokken of voor wie het wethouderschap eindigde voor het einde van de reguliere collegeperiode. De valpartijen van wethouders zijn in deze lijst benoemd als gevolg van een tijdelijke of definitieve politieke vertrouwensbreuk, uitgaande van het vertrekpunt dat een wethouder na zijn benoeming of wethouders na hun benoeming als lid van een college het vertrouwen heeft/hebben om volwaardig als wethouder te functioneren totdat hij/zij dat vertrouwen verliest dan wel het vertrouwen verliezen van de hen ondersteunende coalitiepartij(en). Of wethouders al dan niet gebruik hebben gemaakt van wachtgeld is geen criterium voor het opnemen van ten val gekomen wethouders in de onderhavige lijst. Patronen De cijfermatige conclusies en de geanalyseerde patronen in Valkuilen voor wethouders zijn gebaseerd op deze lijst van politiek (tijdelijk of definitief) gevallen en tussentijds vertrokken wethouders. De reden van het ten val komen of vertrek is in de lijst toegevoegd zodat te zien is welke bijvoorbeeld politieke valpartijen zijn.

    Personalization of political newspaper coverage: a longitudinal study in the Dutch context since 1950 Ellis Aizenberg, Wouter van Atteveldt, Chantal van Son, Franz-Xaver Geiger VU University, Amsterdam This study analyses whether personalization in Dutch political newspaper coverage has increased since 1950. In spite of the assumption that personalization increased over time in The Netherlands, earlier studies on this phenomenon in the Dutch context led to a scattered image. Through automatic and manual content analyses and regression analyses this study shows that personalization did increase in The Netherlands during the last century, the changes toward that increase however, occurred earlier on than expected at first. This study also shows that the focus of reporting on politics is increasingly put on the politician as an individual, the coverage in which these politicians are mentioned however became more substantive and politically relevant. Keywords: Personalization, content analysis, political news coverage, individualization, privatization Introduction When personalization occurs a focus is put on politicians and party leaders as individuals. The context of the news coverage in which they are mentioned becomes more private as their love lives, upbringing, hobbies and characteristics of personal nature seem increasingly thoroughly discussed. An article published in 1984 in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf forms a good example here, where a horse race betting event, which is attended by several ministers accompanied by their wives and girlfriends is carefully discussed1. Nowadays personalization is a much-discussed phenomenon in the field of political communication. Introduction On 1 June 2005, 61.5% of the Dutch voters rejected the European Constitution by referendum. Turnout was unexpectedly high with 63.3%. It was the first na- tional referendum in the modern history of the Netherlands, made possible through a number of surprising political developments. This article looks at the history of the referendum, the legal design of the referendum, the campaign and it attempts to analyse the outcome. Events leading up to the referendum Until June 2005, the Kingdom of the Netherlands was the only European state which had never held a national referendum. Only during the time of its legal predecessor, the Batavian Republic, were some referendums held on the adoption of a Constitution. However, at the local level approximately 115 referendums have been held since 1912 on various topics. Also several referendums were held in the Dutch Antilles and Aruba (Carribean islands which belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands) on their status within the Kingdom and their constitutional future.
