Dorsten – Historic old town
Embedded in westwall – southwall – eastwall is the historical old town. The traditional center is the former "Hanseatic City of Dorsten", whose core area is characterized by the old market place, the St. Agatha Church and a recognizably medieval street pattern.
The "Old Town Hall" from the Renaissance period reminds of Dorsten's membership in the Hanseatic League and dominates the market place in the heart of the old town. Alleys and small streets lead to the market place and connect the main streets Recklinghäuser-, Essener- and Lippestraße (pedestrian zone). Parts of the old city wall and a fortification tower have been preserved.

Gastronomically, the old town and secondary centers are well equipped: Here, nationally known TV chefs – with and without stars – cook in first-class gastronomy, but home-style cooking, international and regional cuisine is also at home here. In addition, traditional restaurants, trendy pubs and beer gardens can be found throughout the city.

Fitness and sports at Maria Lindenhof (near the old town)
In the Maria Lindenhof leisure center – within walking distance of the old town between the river Lippe and the canal – tennis courts, sports and games facilities and a fitness park have been established. The Atlantis adventure and leisure pool with its giant slide, sauna landscape and real sea flair can also be found there. In winter, the ice sports hall is a good address for skaters.

Jewish Museum Westphalia
The unique Documentation Center for Jewish History and Religion is centrally located on the edge of the old town. Letters, documents and texts, but also everyday tools and cult objects have been integrated into this gathering and documentation center.

Shopping mall „MERCADEN“
MERCADEN Dorsten offers more than just shopping on two sales floors with around 30 stores and two parking levels in underground garages. Located between Dorsten's old town and the Wesel-Datteln canal, the shopping center makes you want to stroll, shop and enjoy. Centro Oberhausen
The Centro in Oberhausen, only 20 minutes away from Dorsten, is Europe's largest shopping and leisure center.
