Regional Rail Museum, Howrah
The Rail Museum at Howrah, set up on the bank of river Hooghly, was inaugurated on April 7, 2006. Its 2 foundation stone was laid on September 1, 2005. 7 The Museum highlights the history and heritage of 5 Railway in the eastern part of the country. It displays the history of Eastern Railway, Howrah station and Railways in eastern India. Also put up are pictorial history of EIR, ER, ECR, ECoR, SER, NFR, CLW & Metro Railway, Kolkata. Century old drawings, forms, documents and fascinating collection of philately, 150 1 years old steam locos, carriages, salon cars, trains etc. are major crowd pullers. With a 2-bogie toy train chugging around, children with their parents can enjoy a ride for a nominal fare. For a gastronomic journey down memory lane old coaches have been converted 6 into restaurant and dining car. A part of the 4.5 acre of land has been beautified as a park with flower plants and well decorated fountains. The Museum lives a 1. Model of WAG-7 Class locomotive 5. ER introduced dedicated New Holiday Home of ER at Mumbai e-commerce parcel van inaugurated
Eastern Railway has entered into of e-commerce parcel van through ER e-commerce parcel business as a pilot route started on 20.2.2017 with the project for the first time in IR. Considering front SLR of 15959 Up Kamrup Express the large flow of e-commerce parcel for dedicated for e-commerce traffic. Assam and North-Eastern region and Ms. Arundhuti Ghosh, Chief Post Master in response to the demand from Postal General, W. B. Circle, Shri Soumitra Department, a dedicated parcel van with Biswas, CCM (FM), Shri Ranjan Srivastav, carrying capacity of one tonne has been ADRM, Howrah and other principal allotted in 15959 Up Howrah-Dibrugarh officers of Eastern Railway were present Kamrup Express. LHB coaches respectively in place of Introduction of modern type of LHB 64 & 48 passengers in one conventional rake will also increase the carrying AC 3-tier and AC 2-tier coaches.
