01 Feb 4,,78,,670 Houses Sanctioned Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban) The approval was given in the 42 meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held here yesterday. The cumulative number of houses sanctioned under PMAY(U) now is 72,65,763. nd

A total of 940 projects with a project cost of Rs22,492 crore with central assistance of Rs7,180 crore has been approved. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an initiative by Government of India in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 20 million affordable houses by 31 March 2022. This scheme is converged with other schemes to ensure houses have a toilet, Saubhagya Yojana electricity connection, Ujjwala Yojana, LPG gas connection, access to drinking water and Jan Dhan banking facilities, etc.

02 Feb Budget 2019: Single window clearance mechanism for Indian film makers The single window clearance was earlier available only for foreign films. Considering the huge job creating potential of the film industry, Piyush Goyal extended the single window clearance for Indian films.

The move will help in cutting down the time required by film makers to seek permissions before the commencement of shooting. Goyal also announced that anti cam-cording provision will be introduced to the Cinematography Act to fight piracy. This means that the pre-production period for making films will reduce since the time spent on seeking permissions will come down.

02 Feb Interim Budget: Goyal declares pension of Rs 3,,000 for informal workers The scheme will cover all those unorganised sector workers like autorikshaw driver, whose income is up to Rs 15,000 per month.

The scheme will attract matching contribution of Rs 100 per month from government as well as from workers. He also announced hiking of tax free gratuity to Rs 30 lakh from existing Rs 20 lakh for employees having service of more than five years. The scheme will be called 'Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan'. The government will also provide a matching contribution of Rs 100 for every unorganised workers covered under the scheme, which is expected to benefit 10 crore workers in next five years.

02 Feb Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi launched to provide income support for

farmers Agriculture continues to be the main driver of the rural economy. Our hard-working farmers, supported by pro-farmer policies of our Government in the past four and half years, have produced agriculture commodities in record quantities.

Under this programme, vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land upto 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of Rs 6,000 per year. This income support will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers, in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. This programme will be funded by Government of India. Around 12 crore small and marginal farmer families are expected to benefit from this. The programme would be made effective from 1st December 2018 and the first installment for the period upto 31st March 2019 would be paid during this year itself.

04 Feb Visually impaired,, blind voters to get braille voter slips in Lok Sabha polls It is a tactile reading and writing system used by blind and visually impaired people who cannot access print material.

Braille is a script with raised dots that can be read with the fingers by people who are blind or who have low vision. As part of its strategy framework for 'accessible elections', the commission has told all chief electoral officers to issue accessible photo voter slips with braille to voters who are visually impaired or blind. The braille enabled slips were used in the recently held assembly elections also. Electronic voting machines already have the braille feature. The ballot paper pasted on the machine with name and symbol of candidates is braille enabled.

05 Feb PM Kisan scheme: Aadhaar optional for 1st installment,, compulsory from 2nd Agriculture Ministry prescribes rules to avail the recently-launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, where a beneficiary would get ₹6,000 per year in three installments.

States have been told to prepare a database of beneficiaries — small and marginal landholder farmer families in all villages — including whether they belong to SC/ST, bank account, mobile and Aadhaar details. States have also been told to update their land records, as that would serve as the basis for determination of landholding for beneficiaries. States would be given a maximum of 0.25% of funds transferred to beneficiaries in the first instalment to pay for their administrative expenses in the implementation of the scheme. That amount would drop to 0.125% for all further instalments.

05 Feb Pre-departure orientation programme launched for potential migrant workers Given the need to orient potential migrant workers with regard to language, culture, do’s and don’ts in the destination country, the emigration process and welfare measures, a Pre-Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) programme has been launched for gulf countries.

The National Skill Development Corporation is the implementing agency for this programme. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is conducting the PDOT programme under the Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PKVY).

05 Feb Upgradation and digitalisation of school under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan The Central Government has launched an Integrated Scheme for school education - Samagra Shiksha, which subsumes the three erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) , Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Teacher Education, from the year 2018-19.

National Repository of O pen Educational Resources (NRO ER) - The National Repository of Open Educational Resources (NROER) is an initiative to bring together all digital and digitisable resources across all stages of school education and teacher education. SWAYAM:- The ‘Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds’ (SWAYAM) is an integrated platform for online courses, using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and covering school (9th to 12th) to Post Graduate Level.
