1. AIIMS Delhi won first prize of 5 crores for maintaining high standards of sanitation and hygiene under Government's Kayakalp awards. North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences Shillong was second (3 crore) and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh received third Prize (1 crore). 2. Ahmedabad based Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) received International Mercury Awards (IMA) for 2016 - 17 for best overall presentation of its 2015 - 2016 annual report. 3. Chairman of Motherson Sumi systems, Vivek Chaand Sehgal has been named Indian Entrepreneur of year 2016 by consulting firm Ernst & Young. 4. Infosys cofounder Nandan Nilekani honored with lifetime achievement award for spearheading India’s Aadhaar project. 5. Corporation Bank won 2017 National MSME Excellence Award in New Delhi. 6. Dr P Raghu Ram, President of Association of Breast Surgeons of India has been honored by Dr B C Roy national award for outstanding service in field of socio - medical relief for 2016. It will be conferred on him by Prez Pranab Mukherjee on Doctors day observed annually on 1st July. 7. Indian Hockey Player Sandeep Singh honoured with Honorary Doctorate Degree by Desh Bhagat University, Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab). He is second Indian hockey player to receive this award after Dileep Tirkey. 8. Jawaharlal Nehru University won Visitor’s Award 2017 for best Central University in India. These awards were instituted in 2015. 9. Rajasthan and Telangana named Winners of Excellence under State category in e - Gov Awards 2017, Instituted by the Computer Society of India. 10. Renowned Hindi litterateur Surendra Verma selected for Vyas Samman 2016 for his novel Kaatna Shami Ka Vriksha : Padma Pankhuri Ki Dhar Se. Vyas Samman award is given by K.K. Birla Foundation for outstanding literary work in Hindi. The award carries monetary award of 2.5 lakh rupees, a citation and a plaque. 11. Singer Lata Mangeshkar honoured with Legendary Award 2017 by Brand Laureate (Malaysia). Brand Laureate Awards (including Legendary Award) recognise world class achievement in branding amongst individuals and companies. In 2012, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was honoured with Legendary Award.

1. 8th Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2016 (Northern and Eastern Region) Given to Anima Pookkunnyil and Shreya Ila Anasuya. 2. Govardhan Eco Village of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) at Wada taluka in Maharashtra received award in the “Best Water NGOWater Education” category instituted by Water Digest.  This village had earlier been conferred with UNWTO Award for Innovation in the category of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), during UNWTO Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Tourism held at Madrid in Spain. 3. 10. Indian Cricketer Kapil Dev and Bollywood Actor Aamir khan will receive 75th Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards. 11. Minister of State (IC) for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatreya awarded NSCI Safety Awards 2016 to 70 Organisations. 12. Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare selected Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura for Krishi Karman awards 2015-16 (Cash Award 5 Crores). Apart from these, Meghalaya would get commendation prize for total food grain production and would be given a cash award of Rs 1 crore. Tamil Nadu has been chosen in large category (production over 10 million tonnes), Himachal Pradesh in medium category (1 to 10 million tonnes) and Tripura in small category (less than 1 million tonnes). 13. Nobel Laureate and social activist Kailash Satyarthi has been honored by PC Chandra Puraskar for his work against child slavery and child labour. 14. President Pranab Mukherjee conferred National Geoscience Awards 2016 on 26 geoscientists in New Delhi. 16. S.P. Bala Subramanyam awarded with NTR National Film Award for 2012 and actress Hema Malini awarded with same award for year 2013. 17. Sanjay Pratihar (Tezpur University(Assam)) has been selected for Indian National Science Academy (INSA) medal for Young Scientist Award 2017, for his contribution to multi-metal complexes, theoretical understanding, selective sensing of Hq2+ions and applications in agriculture.

Immunologist Alexander Rudensky, Shimon Sakaguchi and Fred Ramsdell won 2017 Crafoord Prize, for their discoveries related to regulatory T cells and their role in the immune system.  Crafoord Prize is an annual science prize established in 1980 by Holger Crafoord, a Swedish industrialist and his wife AnnaGreta Crafoord. It is administered by Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (RSAS). 10. India's Darpan Basak won Young Travel Photographer award 2016. India's Ankit Kumar also won Young Travel Photographer award in Places and Experiences category. 11. Indian American Parag Havaldar named among 18 achievers announced by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar Academy) for its 2017 Scientific and Technical awards. Indian actress Priyanka Chopra won her second People’s Choice Award for Favourite Dramatic TV Actress for TV series Quantico. 13. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been given Venezuela’s first ever Hugo Chavez Prize for Peace and Sovereignty. 16. Tennis player Andy Murray (Britain) became Youngest ever to have conferred Knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II. 17. Three Indian origin persons honored by Order of Australia Australia’s highest civilian honour. Honored Persons are Purushottam Sawrikar, Makhan Singh Khangure and Vijay Kumar. 18. USA President Barack Obama selected 4 Indian American scientists among 102 researchers for Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) Pankaj Lal (Montclair State University), Kaushik Chowdhury (Northeastern University), Manish Arora (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai) and Aradhna Tripati (University of California). Vice President Joe Biden was honored by Presidential Medal of Freedom, highest USA civilian honour.

1. 2 Indian films won awards at 67th annual Berlin International Film Festival. Newton - CICAE Art Cinema Award. It is cowritten by Mayank Tiwari and directed by Amit V Masurkar. Short film Aaba - Special Prize of Generation KPlus International Jury for Best Short Film. It has been directed by Amar Kaushik. 2. 59th Annual Grammy Awards (Held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California) British singer Adele won the most awards in 5 different categories. Indian Scottish person Shand Panesar and Craig Nicholson awarded 2017 UK's Outstanding Bravery of Year Award in special award ceremony of Total Excellence in Policing Awards. 7. Indian Airline SpiceJet won 3 awards at Asia One Awards in Singapore Asia’s Greatest Brands 2016, Global Asian of the year 2016 and Asia’s Greatest CFO 2016. 8. Indo British sculptor Anish Kapoor won 2017 USD 1 Million Genesis Prize by Israel for his contribution for Jewish community across world. 9. Oscars 2017 (89th Academy Awards) La La Land won 6 Awards (nominated into 14 categories). March 1. 6 Indian Americans selected for Ellis Island Medal of Honour, highest civilian award in USA for immigrants Indra Nooyi, Fareed Zakaria, Dinesh Paliwal, Dr. Annapoorna, Yashvant Patel, Mohan H Patel. 2. Barbadian singer Rihanna won 2017 Harvard University's Humanitarian of the year Award, for her work in supporting education and health care in Caribbean and developing countries. 3. Bollywood Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won best actress award at International Film Festival and Awards of Australia (IFFAA) for her movie Sarbjit, Directed by Omung Kumar. 4. Britain's Indian Origin Cabinet Minister Priti Patel received Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) in London from Indian High Commission in United Kingdom. 5. British singer Ed Sheeran will be honoured with Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 2017 Hal David Starlight Award. Global ambassador award has been given to Pitbull. 6. Canadian teacher Maggie MacDonnell won $1million Global Teacher Prize. He teaches at a school in a flyin only village of Salluit in the Arctic region. 7. French mathematician Yves Meyer won 2017 Abel Prize for his role in development of mathematical theory of wavelets (small waves or ripples). 8. GMR’s Hyderabad International Airport ranked 1st in world in Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey in 515 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category in 2016. 9.
