This audit covered the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2017, except as otherwise indicated in the audit scope, objective, and methodology section of the report. The audit was conducted pursuant to Sections 402 and 403 of The Fiscal Code (72 P.S. §§ 402 and 403), and in accordance with the Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain sufficient, appropriate evidence to provide a reasonable basis for our findings and conclusions based on our audit objectives. We believe that the evidence obtained provides a reasonable basis for our findings and conclusions based on our audit objectives. Our audit found that the District complied, in all significant respects, with relevant requirements, except as detailed in our two findings noted in this audit report. A summary of the results is presented in the Executive Summary section of the audit report. We also evaluated the application of best practices in the area of school safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this issue and the need for the results of this review to be confidential, we did not include the results in this report.

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Laubach at 7:08 P.M. Board members present: Rachel Cardelle, Frederick Chandler, John Jakobsen, Eloise Laubach, Letitia Lladoc, Judith Magann, William White and Laurie Woods. Board member absent: Ray Williams. Also present: Dr. John A. Toleno, Superintendent; Stephen Brodmerkel, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel; Dr. William Riker, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction; Donovan Jennings, Business Manager; Jerome Chromey, Assistant Director of Special Education; Cathleen Crisafulli, Supervisor of Transportation; Wanda Lesoine, Assistant High School Principal; Michael Romano, Jr., Elementary Principal; Tricia Setar, Director of Special Education; Karen Thomson, Middle School Principal; Jeffrey Walters, Intermediate/ Elementary School Principal; Karen Widmer, Director of Humanities; and Daniel Corveleyn, Esquire, Solicitor. Stroudsburg, PA 18360 November 8, 2020 Summit Charter School Application - Founder Letter More about How and Why Summit School Started To Whom It May Concern: I write this letter to accompany the Summit Charter School Charter Application, not only as a letter of support, but also as a way to provide context. I am the original founding member of Summit School of the Poconos, the private school whose model the Summit Charter School is based on. I serve as the Board President of the Summit School of the Poconos and plan to serve as the Board President of the Summit Charter School. The Charter School Application asks about the founding coalition and asks for a representation of need. While facts and data can be included there, that information alone lacks a depth of something more meaningful and personal. I shared much of what I will write here with the Pocono Mountain School District during the hearing for the first charter application submitted by the school in November 2019. With the help of so many people over the past sixteen years this local boys and girls senior showcase has grown into a memorable community affair. This night is not just a basketball game for our senior All-Stars but also a night to remember all those in the community who have lost their battle with cancer and to encourage those who continue their fight. Cancer is the number one leading cause of death in Monroe County. The vision of this All-Star game was not only to give our senior All-Stars one last chance to play in front of their families and friends, but also to honor two Monroe County Basketball Legends who lost their lives to cancer. Proceeds from the event support both the “Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center” and the Jimmy V Foundation. The community can truly be proud of the support they provide to these worthy causes.
