I suggest you contact all of the tribes listed, and PARLIAMENTARI AN if they cannot supply information regarding the presence of cultural resources, they may Russell Attebe ry recommend others with specific knowledge. The list should provide a starting place to locate Karuk areas of potential adverse impact within the APE. By contacting all those on the list, your organization will better able to respond to claims of failure to consult, as consultation may be COMMISSIONER required under specific state Statutes. If a response from the tribe has not been received within Marshall McKay two weeks of notification, the Native American Heritage Commission (NAHC) requests that you Wintun follow up with a telephone call or email to ensure that the project information has been received. COMMISSIONER William Mungary The NAHC also recommends that the project proponents conduct a record search of the Paiute/White Mountain NAHC’s Sacred Lands File (SLF) and also of the appropriate regional archaeological Apache Information Center of the California Historic Resources Information System (CHRIS) to determine if any tribal cultural resources are located within the APE of the project.
