It sketches a variety of Indonesia's Arabs—sadah and non-sadah alike— and their contributions to the shape of Indonesian Islam, Islamic cultures and Muslim politics. It also traces the roots of—and depicts the historical dynamics and changes—social relations and interactions between Arabs and local populations. The relations between Arabs and non-Arabs in the country have always been marked with conflict and tensions on the one hand, and peace and cooperation on the other. Some Muslims in the country "have admired" and built a strong relationship with the Arabs and "Indo-Arabs" while others have denounced them as the destroyers of Indonesia's local traditions, civic pluralism, social stability and interreligious tolerance. This article tries to portray this paradox, discuss factors contributing to the damaging image of Arabs in contemporary Indonesia, and explain the rationales behind it. -

PEMERTAHANAN TRADISI PERNIKAHAN PADA KELUARGA KETURUNAN ARAB DI CONDET JAKARTA TIMUR Ayu Triyana Mardiani Pembimbing : Dr. Apipudin, M.Hum Program Studi Arab, Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Budaya, Universitas Indonesia Depok 16424 – Indonesia [email protected] Abstrak Skripsi ini membahas pemertahanan tradisi pernikahan pada keluarga keturunan Arab di Condet Jakarta Timur. Skripsi ini membahas perbedaan dan persamaan tradisi pernikahan pada keluarga keturunan Arab dahulu dan sekarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu melalui wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pernikahan keturunan Arab di Condet mengacu pada ajaran dan tradisi Islam, juga salah satu bentuk dari asimilasi terhadap kebudayaan sekitar. Tradisi pernikahan yang dipertahankan yaitu perjodohan, malam pacar, akad nikah, resepsi pernikahan, dan ngunduh mantu. Hanya waktu, tempat dan prosesi pelaksanaannya saja yang membedakannya antara dahulu dan sekarang. BAB IV DIALOG ANTARA SOEKARNO DENGAN TOKOH ISLAM DI INDONESIA MENGENAI PEMIKIRAN SOEKARNO TENTANG ISLAM DI INDONESIA A. Soekarno Vs Ahmad Hassan Soekarno dan Ahmad Hassan merupakan dua orang yang memiliki hubungan murid dan guru serta teman yang sangat dekat. Berawal dari pertemuan mereka di Bandung yaitu ketika keduanya sama-sama bertemu di percetakan Drukerij Economy milik orang Cina. Ketika itu, Soekarnosedangmencetaksuratkabar propaganda politiknya dengan judul FikiranRakjat. Sementara itu, Ahmad Hassan seorang tokoh Persatuan Islam (PERSIS) sedang mencetakmajalah-majalahdanbuku-buku yang iacetak di sana. Dalam setiap pertemuan tersebut, antara keduanya sering terjadi dialog berbagai masalah mulai dari politik hingga agama. Dari percakapan ini, ada sebuah kesan bahwa Soekarno yang tadinya tidak banyak mengerti masalah agama Islam, kini dari percakapan itu Soekarno pemikirannya menjadi luas. Dalam keadaan inilah Ahmad Hassan melihat Soekarno tak ubahnya sebagai Mustafa Kamal yang menjadikan Turki sebagai negara sekuler dan menyia- nyiakan agama yang diyakini oleh penduduknya. Oleh karena itu, Ahmad Hassan dan muridnya yang bernama Moh. By JANE PERLEZ Published: August 17, 2006 JAKARTA, Indonesia, Aug. 14 — For more than two decades, the brutal military occupation of East Timor, a distant, impoverished territory, brought Indonesia little but disdain and dishonor on the world stage. Kemal Jufri/Imaji, for The New York Times Ali Alatas, a former Indonesian diplomat, has written an insider‟s account of the diplomacy related to East Timor‟s path to independence. Because Indonesia is part of the countries in Southeast Asia, it is reasonable if Indonesia contributes to creating peace in Cambodia. Therefore, this study tried to find out the beginning of the conflict in Cambodia, to know the role of Indonesia in realizing peace in Cambodia in 1979-1992, and to understand how the impact of Cambodia peace for Indonesia in particular and Southeast Asia in general. The conflict in Cambodia caused political uncertainty in Southeast Asia. Southeast Asia countries attempted either independently or within the framework of ASEAN to resolve the conflict. Indonesia’s extraordinary contribution assisted in the peace in Cambodia, both through ASEAN and the United Nations. Indonesia as the representative of ASEAN, has successfully held several important meetings as a solution to solving Cambodia's problems. Successive is Ho Chi Minh City Understanding (1987), and Jakarta Informal Meeting (JIM) I and II (1988-1989). In the United Nations Framework, the Indonesian Foreign Minister and the French Foreign Minister were appointed Chairman, at the 1989 Paris International Conference on Cambodia (PICC-Paris International Conference on Cambodia).
