Swear words can be found in the mass media communication, such as magazines and movies. Swear words can be regarded as positive or negative terms. People tend to use swear words to express their certain emotions. Thus, the researcher is interested in analyzing swear words which are uttered by the main characters in a movie. This study aims to analyze swear words used by the main characters in TED 2 movie. There are two questions formulated in this research. The research questions are 1) How do Ted and John use swear words in TED 2 movie? 2) What are the motives behind the swear words uttered by Ted and John in TED 2 movie? This research was a qualitative research. The researcher applied the discourse analysis. -

Abstract The 1960s was a period of change for the British cinema, as it was for so much else. The six feature films directed by John Schlesinger in that decade stand as an exemplar of what those changes were. They also demonstrate a fundamental change in the narrative form used by mainstream cinema. Through a close analysis of these films, A Kind of Loving, Billy Liar, Darling, Far From the Madding Crowd, Midnight Cowboy and Sunday Bloody Sunday, this thesis examines the changes as they took hold in mainstream cinema. In effect, the thesis establishes that the principal mode of narrative moved from one based on objective realism in the tradition of the documentary movement to one which took a subjective mode of narrative wherein the image on the screen, and the sounds attached, were not necessarily a record of the external world. The world of memory, the subjective world of the mind, became an integral part of the narrative. -

To prepare for such a venture, we will address various issues at work in the field of film adaptation from writers such as André Bazin, Linda Hutcheon and Thomas Leitch, in addition to some practical dimensions from Linda Segar’s manual. We will also consider the cinema’s own natural predisposition towards adaptation, debate the value of remaining faithful to the original literary text versus betraying it, updating it, or exploiting its power to spur the imagination in unexpected ways, and ultimately as practitioners to experiment with the process by which “the spirit” of a literary work can be adapted and perhaps rendered complete by cinematic embodiment. -

Last Name 1 Name Professor Class May 25, 2017 Ted 2 Delivers on its ‘R’ Rating Alone This paper explores a method of critical thinking by discussing Ted McFarlane’s Ted 2, starring Mark Wahlberg. A sequel to the original, it was likely an attempt to continue to capitalize on the first film, which ended up earning over $500 million worldwide. While Ted 2 did make about twice its nearly $60 million in costs, it did not perform nearly as well as its predecessor and, in general, was far less popular with movie reviewers and consumers. The following sections examine the movie, first, by developing a set of criteria by which to evaluate the movie, second, by justifying these, and third, by gauging whether the film held up to expectations. Included in this analysis are several prominent reviews. These note that Ted 2 may have suffered from displaying a lack of sensitivity, particularly with respect to civil rights issues at a time of racial strife in the United States. Also, the lack of high level comedic material and tendency to devolve into vulgar side-quests may have detracted from the overall comedic quality. The author also develops a personal view based on a screening of the movie. Given these and other considerations, the final section concludes. 1. Brief Synopsis Wahlberg plays a now-divorced character, ‘John,’ who attends Ted’s wedding. Soon afterward, Ted becomes convinced that his only means of saving an already troubled marriage is to have a baby. This will require artificial insemination. A scheme to carry out this plan is interrupted when a court declares Ted property, therefore also annulling his marriage. -
