  • The Human Aura
The Human Aura Manual compiled by Dr Gaynor du Perez Copyright © 2016 by Gaynor du Perez All Rights Reserved No part of this book may be reproduced or distributed in any form or by any means without the written permission of the author. INTRODUCTION Look beneath the surface of the world – the world that includes your clothes, skin, material possessions and everything you can see - and you will discover a universe of swirling and subtle energies. These are the energies that underlie physical reality – they form you and everything you see. Many scientific studies have been done on subtle energies, as well as the human subtle energy system, in an attempt to verify and understand how everything fits together. What is interesting to note is that even though the subtle energy systems on the earth have been verified scientifically as existing and even given names, scientists are only able to explain how some of them work. Even though we do not fully comprehend the enormity and absolute amazingness of these energies, they form an integral part of life as we know it. These various energy systems still exist regardless of whether you “believe in them” or not (unlike Santa Claus). You can liken them to micro-organisms that were unable to be seen before the invention of the microscope – they couldn’t be seen, but they killed people anyway. We, and everything in the universe, is made of energy, which can be defined most simply as “information that vibrates”. What’s more interesting is that everything vibrates at its own unique frequency / speed, for example, a brain cell vibrates differently than a hair cell, and similar organisms vibrate in similar ways, but retain a slightly different frequency than the other.

It causes me great angst and, on occasion, to hyperventilate. In fact, if my life were to flash before my eyes, many moments would include illegal U-turns, the sound of squealing brakes and me huffing and puffing into brown paper bags only to be catapulted Iforward, nonetheless, into varying degrees of discomfort and consequence. And, yet, I have survived each and every occurrence. Not always with grace, not always unscathed, or with the intended outcome; but always with growth, emerging shiny and new with a new-found purpose and vision: just like this year’s volume of The Undergraduate Review. Last fall, our review committee met to reassess the journal’s publication process. It was determined that the journal was in need of an overhaul.

  • 3 COMMON TRAPS Four Talk Styles to Avoid
Foundation 3 COMMON TRAPS Four Talk Styles to Avoid There are countless ways to build a great talk. But first some essential safety tips. There are ugly talk styles out there, dangerous to both a speaker’s reputation and an audience’s well-being. Here are four to steer clear of at all costs. THE SALES PITCH Sometimes speakers get it exactly backwards. They plan to take, not give. Several years ago a famed author and business consultant came to TED. I was excited to hear his presentation on how to think outside the box. What happened instead horrified me. He began talking about a series of businesses that had apparently made a significant leap forward as a result of an action they took. And what was that action? They had all booked his consultancy services. After 5 minutes of this, the audience was getting antsy and I’d had enough. I stood up and began to interrupt. Every eye turned my way. I was sweating. My microphone was on. Everyone could hear everything. Me: I have a request here. Perhaps you could tell us about the actual type of thinking you recommend? We want to know how it actually works, so that we’ve got a takeaway. As is, it’s a bit too much of an ad. [Nervous applause. Awkward pause.] Speaker: It takes three days to go into it. In 15 minutes, there is no way I can tell you all about how to do it. My purpose is to tell you that these things can work and therefore motivate you to look further into them.
