  • The Human Aura
The Human Aura Manual compiled by Dr Gaynor du Perez Copyright © 2016 by Gaynor du Perez All Rights Reserved No part of this book may be reproduced or distributed in any form or by any means without the written permission of the author. INTRODUCTION Look beneath the surface of the world – the world that includes your clothes, skin, material possessions and everything you can see - and you will discover a universe of swirling and subtle energies. These are the energies that underlie physical reality – they form you and everything you see. Many scientific studies have been done on subtle energies, as well as the human subtle energy system, in an attempt to verify and understand how everything fits together. What is interesting to note is that even though the subtle energy systems on the earth have been verified scientifically as existing and even given names, scientists are only able to explain how some of them work. Even though we do not fully comprehend the enormity and absolute amazingness of these energies, they form an integral part of life as we know it. These various energy systems still exist regardless of whether you “believe in them” or not (unlike Santa Claus). You can liken them to micro-organisms that were unable to be seen before the invention of the microscope – they couldn’t be seen, but they killed people anyway. We, and everything in the universe, is made of energy, which can be defined most simply as “information that vibrates”. What’s more interesting is that everything vibrates at its own unique frequency / speed, for example, a brain cell vibrates differently than a hair cell, and similar organisms vibrate in similar ways, but retain a slightly different frequency than the other.

It causes me great angst and, on occasion, to hyperventilate. In fact, if my life were to flash before my eyes, many moments would include illegal U-turns, the sound of squealing brakes and me huffing and puffing into brown paper bags only to be catapulted Iforward, nonetheless, into varying degrees of discomfort and consequence. And, yet, I have survived each and every occurrence. Not always with grace, not always unscathed, or with the intended outcome; but always with growth, emerging shiny and new with a new-found purpose and vision: just like this year’s volume of The Undergraduate Review. Last fall, our review committee met to reassess the journal’s publication process. It was determined that the journal was in need of an overhaul.

  • The Healing Forest – the Entire African American Community As a Recovery Center (M.5)
Transcript: The Healing Forest – The Entire African American Community as a Recovery Center (M.5) Presenter: Mark Sanders Recorded on June 9th, 2020 MARK SANDERS: Hello everyone. I like to start these virtual sessions with recovery stories where they give us hope. In March of 1995, I was giving a speech in Downers Grove, Illinois. That's a suburb just west of Chicago. And there was a woman sitting in the front row-- African-American woman sitting in the front row center aisle seat who asked if I was the same Mark Sanders who worked at a detox center in 1985 a decade earlier. I said, yeah, that's me. She said, I was a patient on the detox unit. You were my counselor. I don't always remember names, but I remember stories and faces. So here's her story. She was addicted to cocaine and heroin, and she supported her drug habit through prostitution. In fact, she sold her body not too far from our detox facility. And some evenings, as I was driving home, I'd see her standing on the corner. She left detox and went back to selling her body. She looked really bad to me. You know how when a person stops-- starts using drugs, they stop eating, they lose a lot of weight. So I remember looking at her some evening and saying to myself as I was driving, well, she looks really bad. I don't think she'll ever recover. Am I the only one listening to the sound of my voice who's ever worked with a client that you thought would never recover? See, that's why I'm convinced that computers will never be able to do your job.
