When she goes to see her new school, Meio Academy, she meets a young man who is replanting a Tanpopo dandelion flower. At school the next day, Tanpopo is not only amazed by the modern facilities but also that she is in the same class as the young man she met the day before: Kugyou Kouki, the son of the owner of Meio. When she greets him, Kouki pretends not to know her and she is shocked that he would act so differently from their previous meeting. Meanwhile, the students at the school discover Tanpopo is a commoner from the country side and begin to bully her. This is actually a manga that I read the first two volumes of many years ago and then stopped because either there weren't any more at the time or because I couldn't find any more. When I found out there were more, I went out and found all the volumes so I could re-read the first two and move on to the rest. I really like this series. It's very cute. Tanpopo is not at all a complex or nuanced character. Other characters in the story are, and maybe Tanpopo will become so eventually, but not yet. Right now she's incredibly one dimensional. It's still a fun story that I like immensely, but she's not a multifaceted character. But Imadoki: v. 4: Nowadays story is very upbeat and nice.
