The overall aim is to investigate and analyze what the term Manga means in a library and information science context. The concept of Manga has different meanings depending on whether we start from a Japanese or a Swedish context. Manga is integrated in the Japanese society while Manga often is associated with youth culture or a separate genre in Sweden. The first issue is to examine how the Manga literature lending statistics looks in Swedish public libraries in the years 2000-2011, which is illustrated through text and graphics. A dramatic increase in Manga literature lending statistics occurred 2004 which culminated in the year of 2009. From this statistics the study also investigates which genres are represented in the Swedish public libraries. This diversity of genres and subgenres in Manga literature is sharply reduced to a few genres in Swedish public libraries where romance, comedy, action, fantasy and adventure are dominant. The second question dealt with how to define and use the term Manga? I suggest that Manga can be sorted into the concepts of Manga Literature, Manga aesthetics and Manga culture with the intention of nuance and specify the subject areas content and discussion.The third issue in this examination is dealing with how Manga literature can conveniently be placed? What are the contextual components in Manga and how do they relate to each other? Studiens konstruerade modell av den moderna japanska visuella kulturens ekosystem. 4 Inledning Den här studien kommer att undersöka hur seriefenomenet manga hanteras i svenska folkbibliotek. De frågor som uppsatsen försöker besvara är: Hur skiljer sig klassificeringen av mangalitteratur i svenska folkbibliotek från japansk och internationell klassificering? Hur ser utlåningsstatistiken för mangan ut i svenska folkbibliotek? För att kunna svara på dessa frågor måste vi undersöka och förstå vad manga är för något. Hur ser mangans historia ut och vad har vi för relation till manga i Sverige? Serier från Sverige, övriga Europa samt USA har funnits tillgängliga i en större omfattning i Sverige sedan 1900-talets andra hälft men fanns även tidigare än så, både i handeln och i hemmet. I svenska folkbibliotek fick serier successivt en allt mer naturlig plats ju längre in på 1900-talet man kommer. Mellan 1950- och 1970-talen var serieupplagorna i Sverige som störst och kulmen nåddes år 1973. Under 1990-talet minskade serieutgivningen drastiskt i Sverige delvis på grund av konkurrens från kabel-TV och internet.1 Manga hör till den japanska serietraditionen, vilken i stort sett inte existerat i Sverige under 1900-talet. Mangalitteratur började tryckas i större upplagor vid millennieskiftets början vilket kan ha varit en bidragande faktor till att serieupplagorna i Sverige expanderade. Idag har mangalitteratur vanligtvis en egen fysisk hyllplacering i svenska folkbibliotek. I vår samtid finns hundratals olika mangor tillgängliga i svenska folkbibliotek och svenska

    XXIV SALÓ DEL MANGA DE BARCELONA El XXIV Saló del Manga de Barcelona es celebra aquest any de l'1 al 4 de novembre de 2018 als Pavellons 1, 2, 2.1, 3.1, 4, 5 i a la Plaça Univers de Fira Barcelona Montjuïc, on ocuparà aproximadament uns 75.000 metres quadrats. El certamen organitzat per FICOMIC oferirà nombroses activitats culturals, així com exposicions, conferències, signatures d'autors, tallers, a més de la participació de destacats autors de manga. Aquest any disposarem de més activitats participatives que mai. Volem que el Saló del Manga de Barcelona sigui no només la gran festa de la cultura japonesa, sinó també un gran festival en què la part principal sigui el públic. Un altre dels canvis d'aquesta edició estarà relacionat amb l'espai de gastronomia japonesa. Als matins tindrem classes de cuina japonesa obertes a la participació del públic i per la tarda els show cookings. Nous espais, noves activitats i molt més manga i cultura japonesa que mai. Pensant en els més petits i les seves famílies estrenem l'espai Manga Kids, un espai lúdic i familiar on es podrà aprendre tècniques de dibuix, guió i disseny, llegir mangas, j u g a r, fer el teu propi manga, entre d'altres divertides activitats per realitzar en família. Una edició en què tindrem grans convidats relacionats amb el manga, l'anime, la música i la cultura japones en general. Noms com el d’Akira Himekawa (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight princess), Daisuke Hagiwara (HORIMIYA), Eiki Eiki y Taishi Zaou (Love Stage!!), Elsa Brants (Sálvame, Pythie), Masaki Satô (Dragon Ball Z), Nagabe (El jefe es una onee), Paru Itagaki (Beastars), Tatsuo Unemi, Takashi Hatsushiba, Emika Kamieda, Nana Kitade, The Samurai Sword Artists Kamui,… participaran en el veterà certamen.
