    ‘Hari ini suatu pengkhianatan, perubahan dalam masa terdekat’ Malaysiakini 23 Februari 2020 Presiden PKR Anwar Ibrahim menyifatkan perkembangan politik tanah air hari ini sebagai satu “pengkhianatan”. “Dan kita juga dikejutkan hari ini dengan perkembangan yang bagi kita satu pengkhianatan kerana sudah janji dan sebagainya, maka menyebabkan ada perubahan. “Dan saya jangka akan berlaku dalam masa terdekat, mungkin esok,” kata Anwar kepada penyokongnya di rumahnya di Kuala Lumpur. Anwar berkata, walaupun tidak ada pengumuman malam ini, daripada maklumat yang beliau terima memang ada usaha sedemikian. Terdahulu, Malaysiakini melaporkan beberapa kem politik bermesyuarat pada hari ini mencetuskan spekulasi berlakunya pensejajaran semula kekuasaan negara. Ketika mesyuarat Majlis Presiden PH pada Jumaat lalu, pemimpin tertingginya terbahagi kepada dua pendapat. Satu pihak mahu Dr Mahathir Mohamad menghabiskan penggal perkhidmatannya sebagai perdana menteri, sementara yang lain mahu beliau menetapkan tarikh persaraan. Pada akhirnya, mesyuarat PH itu memutuskan tarikh peralihan kuasa "terpulang kepada Mahathir." Bagaimanapun, sekitar tengah hari tadi, para anggota parlimen yang setia kepada Timbalan Presiden PKR Mohamed Azmin Ali disahkan berkumpul di Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya, manakala Majlis Tertinggi Bersatu mengadakan mesyuarat di ibu pejabat parti mereka, yang tidak jauh dari hotel itu. Selepas Bersatu bermesyuarat selama empat jam, Dr Mahathir keluar tanpa menjawab soalan pemberita, dan sekadar melambaikan tangan sahaja. Para pemimpin dan MP Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) pula bertemu petang ini di Ritz Carlton, Kuala Lumpur. Majlis Tertinggi Umno juga mengadakan pertemuan di ibu pejabat parti itu, hari ini. Kemudian, pada sebelah petang, sumber yang dekat dengan istana mengesahkan kepada Malaysiakini bahawa enam parti berada di Istana Negara iaitu Bersatu, Umno, PKR (kem Azmin), GPS, PAS dan Warisan.
