Bishop Paiute Tribal Council Update To help improve our communication to our Tribal Community the Bishop Pai- ute Tribal Council will begin publishing updates on current matters of interest in our monthly Tribal Newsletters. The Council will also pursue other avenues of communication such as our Radio Station 96.1 KBPT, Website, and scheduling more community meetings, starting with our next General Council Meeting scheduled for November 18th. To continue our efforts of informing our community of Tribal Business, we will be listing all Resolutions that are adopted the month prior. Law Enforcement - The Bishop Paiute Tribal Council has recently reinstated the Tribal Law Enforcement Com- mittee, which consists of: Bishop Paiute Tribal Council, Bishop Tribal Court, Inyo County Sheriffs Department, Bishop City Police Department, District Attorneys Office, Inyo County Board of Supervisors Rep, Probation, and California Highway Patrol. The meetings began in September and will be monthly or as needed. The group will focus on topics that include re-establishing the Bishop Paiute Tribal Police Department, and develop- ing MOU’s with local law enforcement agencies that will better improve the safety on the Bishop Paiute Tribe. The Bishop Paiute Tribe has also be appointed a Tribal Liaison by the ICSO, Lieutenant Juan Martinez. We will be contacting Lieutenant Martinez as needed. Toiyabe Update - On Monday October 9, 2017 the BPTC had a meeting with CIRHB CEO Mark LeBeau. Dur- ing this meeting Mr. LeBeau gave an update on how they will be assisting Toiyabe in rebuild- ing their Management team and making sure the requirements of the USDA Loan are being met. CIRHB has appointed a temporary management team of highly qualified candidates (Duel CEO’s Ernesto Padilla & Mathew Wagner, Duel COO’s Marilyn Pollard & Rosario Arreola- Pro, and will be implementing a CFO) to stabilize the functioning clinics until they can assist in filling permanent positions that fits Inside This Issue Toiyabe’ s needs. Meeting Upcoming Events P.16 Hand Games Pictures P.17 Continue on page 2 Boards & Committees P.18 Community Calendar P.19 Bishop Paiute Tribal Council Update ***Continued*** USDA Loan Guarantee- The USDA loan guarantee was put into place during the establishment of the USDA Loan Agreement. The Security Agreement originally stated that if Toiyabe was to fall into default, all Bishop Paiute Tribal Assets could be available to ensure the USDA Loan was paid off. The BPTC has been working with USDA to amend this agreement to secure a portion of Tribal Assists to use for future economic development and growth. USDA is at the table and will- ing to amend this agreement and we are doing so with legal counsel at this time. RAMAH Settlement Allocation ($669,091.71)- As stated during the September General Council Meeting, the Tribe is in the process of identifying areas of need for additional funding to support our tribal programs. Once we have a final spreadsheet of where these allocations had been determined are needed, we will be posing the list in an upcoming newsletter for community comments before it will be finalized and distributed. September, 15, 2017 9-4pm. I did a short overview of the ROSS Program along with handing out promotional items that I had purchased for this event. There were over 34 participants along with pre- senters, and providers, making this a wonderful and pleasant experience. Oriental Acupuncture These people were one of the providers at the Con- ference. This was quite an experience. After my ses- sion, I felt so relaxed and refreshed. If you missed the opportunity to experience this, there’s always next year!!
