Further to self-assessment and analysis 8 grants of up to £4000 will be available to successful participants. Further information and access to full guidance and application documents can be found here. Deadline for applications to the programme 05 July 2021. Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND) The MEND grants scheme is an open-access capital fund targeted at non-national Accredited museums and local authorities based in England. Details of How to Apply are available on the ACE website. Closing date for applications: 05 July. As outlined in the ‘roadmap’ for England to move out of lockdown, museums are now able to open. The government has published the ‘COVID-19 Response - Spring 2021’ document, which outlines the plan in more detail. The move out of lockdown is reliant on four conditions which must be met before moving on a step – so these dates should be used as guides for the time being. Government has recently announced the Restart Grant scheme which supports businesses in the non-essential retail, hospitality, leisure, personal care and accommodation sectors with a one-off grant, to reopen safely as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. The grants are available now through your local authorities and consist of either up to £6,000 in the non-essential retail sector (likely to reopen on 12th April) or up to £18,000 in the hospitality, museums, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym sectors.

  • V&A Innovative Leadership 2015/16 Programme
V&A Innovative Leadership 2015/16 Programme 14th October 2015 - 20th July 2016 What participants say: “The innovative course is an excellent opportunity to take time out from usual hectic schedules to take stock and focus on vital leadership and management self-development. It also provides tools and material that have immediate value in terms of supporting solutions for organisational challenges, and long term sustainability.” “The programme provided the opportunity I had been looking for – time away from the day job to think hard about my practice as a museum professional, and in turn for my teams. I have come away from the programme inspired.” "In just a year I feel I have come a long way which is what I had hoped when I started the course. The course helped build my confidence and has made me realise my potential. It gave me the confidence to go for a promotion which I have since got." "This programme is refreshingly different from other offers in the UK in going beyond bite-sized management information: management and leadership are explored through inspirational lectures by leaders who provide an authentic insight into their work; several real-life assignments at the V&A and other culture institutions gave my fellow participants and me ample opportunity to practice and gain experience. I have met extraordinary people from institutions across the country, and formed strong links. The action learning sets have been one of the key ingredients in my opinion. My action learning set continues to meet: we learn from each other, and grow together." “It has improved my confidence which has in turn improved my effectiveness in dealing with challenging situations.

@LondonMusDev E-update for London’s Museums – 19 April 2021 The Government have updated regulations around the information that re- opened organisations must collect for Test and Trace. Venues which have re- opened must now ask every customer and visitor (over the age of 16) for their information for Test and Trace, unless those individuals have checked in using the NHS Covid-19 app. You can find the information you should collect on the gov.uk website under ‘Information to collect’. You can find more information on these changes on the MA’s website. As outlined in the ‘roadmap’ for England to move out of lockdown, museums will be able to reopen no earlier than the 17 May. The government has published the ‘COVID-19 Response - Spring 2021’ document, which outlines the plan in more detail. Edward Gleed (1916–1990) was photographed by Toni Frissell (1907–1988), an American photographer, known for her fashion photography and war imagery. In this 1945 photograph, Gleed is wearing his uniform and equipment of a Second World War fighter pilot, posing in front of a P–51D Mustang airplane. During the Second World War, Gleed was educated at Tuskegee University (formerly Tuskegee Institute), located near Tuskegee, Alabama; hence, the moniker Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first African–American military aviators and aircrew in the United States Army Air Forces.
