NV Terres Secrètes product-pdf - Crémant de Bourgogne Brut - Enchanting Sparkling from Burgundy Why We're Drinking It Who’s feelin’ bubbly? We sure are. It’s Friday, nothing but blue skies and sunshine in all its beaming warmth and good vibe glory. And if these were normal times, well, we’d be playing hooky and hoofin’ it to the park or driving out to the beach, but alas, the backyard hammock with a glass of this spectacular Crémant and Julia Child’s book, “My Life in France," will have to do. If you haven’t yet been privy to the wonders of Crémant, we are here to show you the way. Typically crafted in the Méthode Traditionnelle as they do in Champagne, the wines are generally of superb quality, but just don’t garner the steep price point because the fruit isn’t sourced from the exclusive vineyards of Champagne. Instead, the term Crémant is affixed to sparkling wines made from vineyards in Burgundy, like today’s offer, or others sourced from Alsace, Loire Valley, etc. The result for you is Louis Vuitton taste on a Zara budget. A win for us all! This particular Crémant, an elegant sub-$20 steal, hails from a charming site near the village of Sologny in the Mâconnais where the 20+ year old vines are rooted in chalk and clay soils. The blend is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, yielding an enchanting wine with sublime notes of white and red cherries, white peach, lemon zest, freshly baked brioche, white pepper and honey.

  • Burgundy Is in a Class by Itself
PREVIEWONLY Introduction Previewing this book? Please check out our enhanced preview, which offers a deeper look at this guidebook. While all of France’s wine regions are special, Burgundy is in a class by itself. The wines are sublime, distinctive and evocative of place. However, as good as the wines are, developing an understanding the region’s complex wine landscape – derived from the extreme fragmentation of its classified vine- yard area into small geographic plots – can be quite a task. Explaining this landscape and what makes the wines from each area unique is what this guidebook was designed to do. This Approach Guide focuses on the five principal areas of Burgundy: Côte d’Or, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâconnais, Beaujolais and Yonne. What’s in this guidebook • Grape varieties. We describe Burgundy’s primary red and white grape varieties and where they reach their highest expressions. • Vintage ratings. We offer a straightforward vintage ratings table, which affords high-level insight into the best and most challenging years for wine production in Burgundy. • Appellation profiles. We provide detailed profiles of each of Burgundy’s appellations. For each appellation, this guide describes the prevailing terroir, the types of wine produced and what makes them distinctive. • Recommendations. We mark our favorite appellations with asterisks (*) — our selections have a record for providing quality, consistency and good values. • Information the way you like it. As with all of our guides, this book is optimized for intui- tive, quick navigation; information is organized into bullet points to make absorption easy; and links are provided to the best online resources.

This really shows wonderful depth and complexity on the nose with blueberries, fresh flowers and hints of stones. It’s full-bodied, with ultra-refined tannins and a long, long 40095 CANTEMERLE (Haut-Medoc) 2005 1.5 L $139.99 $109.99 finish. Gets better and better with age: gorgeous now but will improve for many years to come. Excellent. JS 93 Points The grand vin is the result of an increasingly strict selection process, with approximately 50% of the production going into the final wine and the balance used in the Croix de Beaucaillou. The 2009 may be the finest example of this LA CROIX DE BEAUCAILLOU cuvee I have yet tasted. • Climats” at the Heart of the BIVB's Communication
Press release Burgundy’s “Climats” at the heart of the BIVB's communication “In Burgundy, when you talk about “Climats”, you don’t lift your eyes to the sky, you lower them to the ground.” Bernard Pivot November 2010 In 2011, the Burgundy Wine Board (BIVB) decided to focus its communication on the “Climats” and “lieux-dits” of its vineyards. Burgundy is the only wine-growing region in the world to be able to legitimately claim the notions of “Climats” and “lieux-dits”, which are inseparable from its “Terroir”, a founding element of the reputation of its wines. “Climats” and “lieux-dits” are the very expression of the construction of the Burgundy vineyard and its appellations. They are the basis of its history, its landscapes, its economy and its expertise. It was time to return them to the key position that they deserve! This subject can be discovered all year long An exceptional photo exhibition and an exhibitor’s choice table dedicated to wines, each carrying the name of a “Climat” or a “lieu-dit” will be at the centre of the “Terroirs & Signatures de Bourgogne” tastings organised by the BIVB abroad, throughout the year. These events, destined for the trade (importers, wholesalers, wine shops, wine waiters, instructors, press, etc.) bring together the companies who travel from Burgundy to present their wines. The first meetings in 2011: London (UK): 20 January Stockholm (Sweden): 16 February New York (USA): 16 March Chicago (USA): 17 March Toronto (Canada): 22 March Montreal (Canada): 24 March Tokyo (Japan): 23 May The “Climats” and “lieux-dits” of Burgundy will again be honoured at the Burgundy pavilion during the 2011 edition of Vinexpo.
