2021 EXCHANGE AND VISITING STUDENT PROGRAM GUIDE HONGIK UNIVERSITY ■ EXCHANGE STUDENT PROGRAM Requirement and exchange period Students from sister universities are able to be admitted to Hongik as exchange students. The exchange period is generally one semester. (Student can extend maximum 3 more semesters. 4 semester available in total) Applications and documents needed 1. Completed application form for exchange students 2. Cover letter (self-introduction and study plan) 3. Recommendation letter (from a faculty of the school presently attending) 4. Certified transcript 5. Portfolio (Fine Arts/Design/Architecture majors only, printable PDF format) 6. Copy of passport (the first two pages with personal information) ▶ Email : [email protected] The deadline of the application 1. The end of May (applicants for the Fall semester) 2. The end of November of the previous year (applicants for the Spring semester) *Semester Calendar Spring Semester: from beginning of March to mid-June Fall semester: from beginning of September to mid-December The tuition fee and to register for classes Accepted exchange students are exempted from paying tuition to Hongik University and are allowed to register for courses (up to 18 credit units per semester; contingent upon receiving instructors' permission). Accommodation 1. Dormitory on campus(exclusive of meals) Dorm: 1 room for 2 persons, bathroom in room: approx. KRW 1,400,000 / 16 weeks 2. Off Campus housing Student is responsible for obtaining off-campus housing on his/her own. Applicable department All colleges/departments in Hongik are available for exchange students from our sister institutes. However, we are afraid that only around 10% of the total classes at Hongik are in English. In case of Art department, workshop takes major part of each course so language might not be a big problem. KRW 3,450,000 per semester for the rest.
